Recall of High Pressure Fuel Pump

Dealer also did not have the parking sensor harness in stock that my truck needs, all of the rear sensors are offline or shorted to ground or power.

And my clunking noise is the front drivers side caliper mount the figure, which is 2+ weeks out.

Headed back north with the paperwork from the dealer, hopefully the closest dealer up there will order the parts and do the repair without multiple trips.

My Rear Parking Sensors went out before there is a Star Case about the Software update.
Star case # for it 102062370

But I did spend 10 hours waiting in the service area because the updates were not talking to the BCM right.

I'm interested in what you find out on this CEL / HPFP correlation. I would have thought it is simply a mechanical replacement. I had my HPFP replaced on Monday last and so far all has been exactly as it was when I took it in. I have a 2020 ecodiesel limited with approx 46K miles. No previous fuel pump issues or symptoms either.

I will post what they say they found after they take a look at it on Monday. Had I known I could look at the part they replaced... I would have asked to. I'm hoping there are no metal shavings in the fuel system. I don't see on the paperwork where they checked.

There recall isn't to check for metal unless the truck doesn't run.

If you drive the truck in, you get a pump and lines.
 
I really don't get the various posts that imply in one way or another that the dealer might "do" this repair but not actually replace the HPFP or replace it with the wrong part.

A dealer would have to be complete fools to do something like that. If the FP breaks later and the truck goes to another RAM repair shop, they are going to see that it's the wrong fuel pump and the dealer that claimed to have done the work is going to get f@#!ed!
 
My dealer (the service manager) has told me that the HPFP recall requires two visits: one to see what parts are needed and the second to install said parts (once they arrive, obviously).

It seems odd. Maybe they're checking for metal in the filter???

Go read the recall, it's simple. Did the truck drive to dealer, yes then replace HPFP. No verify no start is caused by failed pump and replace all parts listed in recall.
 
Update 12/20

I was scheduled to take in the truck this past Monday for the engine light coming on after the HPFP was replaced, but the engine light turned off on it's own on the Saturday before. I scheduled a fuel filter replacement and that was completed today. There was nothing on the paperwork to indicate that there was a problem with the old filter, so I guess everything is fine.
If the engine light comes back on I will post that here. It cost $189 to replace the fuel filter so that wasn't to bad. Thanks for the comments.
 
I took mine in last Friday for what they said was the necessary inspection before the HPFP replacement. Maybe that's not what the recall letter says but that's what my dealership does. If I thought they would listen to me, a non-mechanic and non-CDJR dealer, I would have asked to just have the pump replaced right there. But not wanting to get sideways with the surgeons operating on my truck I decided to just let it go. Inspection went fine and the pump is on order and they'll call me...

Once again I ask @RamCares to wade in here!

I wonder if the thing with dealer's requiring 2 visits is for the real purpose of limiting the repairs they do for out-of-towners? I.e. limiting things to doing the repairs more for their local clientele?

I mean, if the dealer can only get a limited supply of the replacement parts, it seems like they'd rather use them to do the repairs for people local to them. Getting locals in as customers has the potential benefit of getting them back when they are ready to buy a new car.

Parts being hard to get means I can imagine people calling around to dealers further away, that they would not normally go to. If those people can make one appointment, go there, hang out for a day while the repair is done, then go home, they are probably not increasing the chance they'll come back to that dealer later to buy a new car. But, if those people know they have to make two trips to the dealer just to get the repair done, then they are proably less likely to do it.

On reflection, I'm somewhat okay with the dealer requiring two visits. Especially if that gets me done sooner, as I am waiting for my dealer to call and let me know they have parts and are ready for me.

Went to pick up my truck at the dealer after I called and they said it was ready. They pull it into the garage and it's loud...

I get in the truck and it has the engine light on. Really??

She puts the code tester on.... So she says oh....yes it should be ok to drive. These are two codes but they are unrelated to the recall issue.

Really?? Unrelated you say. The truck sounds terrible.

I told her.. I'm not driving this truck away. It needs fixed and fixed right. No codes running smoothly
After all of this... I'm concerned about their competency to even work on my truck .

I will need to talk to the manager of the dealership and see about getting a truck until they can get this thing fixed. I'm work part time and
need to transport tools and materials for woodworking.

Any thoughts why these new codes are coming up . Supposedly they got some chemicals and flushed the system or something to that effect.
She couldn't give me the paperwork. She said she was waiting for Mopar top send her paperwork. That sounded fishy.

Had to squish things in the car.

The truck itself seems a tad sluggish.
I'm thinking I should have waited to get the recall done. The thought of it dying on the spot was not a pleasant though either.

Called my dealer out here in Oregon a couple weeks ago and got on the wait list (number 26). Told me the same 1 kit every 7-days that's been mentioned in here. Doing the mental math, that puts me at least 6 months out for parts availability, but the service rep felt it'd probably happen around February. So I don't know if the the kit every 7-days is a hard limit or if every so often they receive more than 1 kit each week. Either-way, patiently waiting and following this thread in the meantime.

P.S. I figured I'd put a fresh fuel filter on at the same time (probably DIY to save $$$ and so I can inspect the old one).

Check the MAF sensor may not be plugged in.
 
Is anyone able to post a picture of the owners manual addendum and tip card the dealer is supposed to include with the recall? I got my truck back yesterday and didn’t receive anything other than the work order.
