Just took delivery of my 5/19 build with 25k miles. Cracks on both sides.

I noticed mine had the crack a while ago but was trying to avoid having another major repair to interior of my 50k truck as there were no noticeable leaks (I already had my headliner and sunroof ripped out last year for “sunroof seals being installed backwards”). Took it through the car wash today and had very noticeable water leaking in. Guess I’ll be joining the club.

I saw someone post the STAR publication a few posts back (Thank you!), is there also a TSB I should be pointing my service advisor to? Should I be making sure they use the new part number a few folks have referenced? Hoping I can get them to fix this right the first time. Don’t want my rear seats tore out more then once if possible.

So this has window surround plastic crack issue exactly as pictured in STAR bulletin has been documented with 2 dealerships (at my own hardship as neither provided rental coverage). The first dealership recognized the known condition but "rejected cost assistance" measures as I no longer have basic warranty coverage. The second dealership performed official water leak test and documented a failure. My Ram customer care representative told me that the service bulletin is not related to my vehicle and that it could not be determined whether the issue resulted from an outside influence or a manufacturer defect (even though looks exactly as pictured in STAR bulletin).

So I'll be resolving this myself with silicone.

I'm curious if there are any lawyers on this forum and our next steps to present a civil case against FCA. What do you think?

My Dad has a 2019 Rebel and I asked him about if he had those cracks & he said no. Well, I stopped over there and took a look myself. He has 2 vertical cracks on both sides of the window frame. Now, that he is taking notice, there are water droplets and its leaking. He took it to the dealer today & showed them the Star bulletin and pics of the water leak. Service manager says he has only seen one other truck with this issue. Service manager is contacting Ram about next step. The 2019 is still under warranty with 6,500 miles. I'm not sure my Dad has ever opened that window. I think it is more about flex in the cab vs. the window bumping stops.

Hopefully, the 2021 Rebel that I am about to order has these water leaks squared away...although, after reading the history here, I am not so convinced.

Thanks for all the great info here!

How long has it been taking to get the windows to the dealerships? Mine was ordered last week but they still haven't received it, so I'll be pushing my visit out another week since their glass guy only works on Thursdays.

Mine is taking over a month to get. Hopefully because it's the updated model

just talked to the Dealer window and frame due to arrive march 25th, thats correct march 25th, advised him thats almost 2months, also advised them the rear window in the 2021 loaner is leaking also, taking the nice guy approach so far, i got 4 new tires in my basement im going to ask them to mount for the inconvience tmrw my serv advisor wasnt there today...tryin to keep calm..

It is only a STAR Case that I know of (STAR Case number S2023000024). That is what mine was replaced under.

Don't delay to have it fixed. Once your basic warranty runs out you will be stuck with it.

The FCA extended warranty does not cover this item so I doubt a 3rd party will either (if you have an extended warranty).

I just got a call back from my dealership. Glass will not be available until March 29th. :-( Hopefully a PM to Ram Cares will help expedite things for me.

I guess it's time to put the blue painter's tape across the top seam of the window to reduce the leaks during the spring storms. Gonna look pretty ugly. Perhaps they should modify the STAR case to provide instructions on how the dealerships can provide a temporary fix while we wait for the supply chain to catch up with demand?

Glad the STAR helped you.
I wouldn't wait to get it fixed either. Warranty is made for things like this, and I know it sucks to have your new truck in the shop to get extensive work done, but you don't want water getting in and making a lousy situation even worse (ie mold). Just my 2 cents.

Wow that’s weird. I went to my dealership today, they approved the repair and said the part will be here in 5-7 days.

I've waited 4 weeks already and have another 3ish before they get the new window

Yeah, I was supposed to take mine in the following Thursday to get my window replaced as well, but on a hunch I called before taking the truck back to them Thursday and it was a good thing I did because it would have been a wasted trip. Then it took over a week for them to call me back to tell me it would be the end of the month before they had a window to install. This is a dealership I have had good luck with in the past, so I can only assume they were getting conflicting information from the parts system.

I put a poll on Facebook about a week ago. It was a shockingly low percentage of people with leaks. Granted, a very non-scientific poll...buy it was something like 150 no to 13 leaks. 8 additional had leaks that were successfully fixed. Here's the poll if anyone is curious.

13 leaks to 150 no leaks is not good when talking water intrusion. I would bet the 150 may vote differently in 6 months to a year.

Have an appointment for this Friday. Will circle back on estimated wait time. For those that have already had the repair, do they replace the whole window? Or just the trim? Trying to figure out if I need to get them to also retint it.

Looked just now and mine has the cracks as well. Never noticed any leaking but will be taking mine in the next few days.

I sure hope this is recalled some day, leaving thousand dollar repair bills in the hands of truck owners out of warranty for an obviously defective part isn’t a nice way to keep them coming back.

Whole assembly (glass and frame)...68426398AC/D/E..E version being the latest and greatest...it comes as "factory" tint...but if you had shop apply film tint, some are getting it covered, others are not...

I wonder if beefing up the structure around the window would help, and then "floating" the window in the opening?

Of course, the cost for that would be far more than a new window. Guess FCA will just keep swapping glass...

Mine is leaking, no cracks visible anywhere. Waiting for window to come in - 2 weeks now. I have the truck and can't garage it. If it starts getting worse I'm going back to dealer for some help on how to keep it under cover.
