Greetings, I own a 2019 ram 1500 limited and took it in today for the rear window leaking from a cracked frame. I was told by my dealership (Kolosso dodge/ram-Appleton) that neither my certified preowned warranty or my platinum extended warranty I purchased covered fixing the cracks and quoted me for $2100! Judging by this forum and other forums, it’s an extremely common problem that shouldn’t happen to a truck that’s 2 years old! Can someone please help me resolve this issue?

miles? Ramcares? 3/36 should cover it, covering mine not due to ship till the 25th of march

I purchased it last year as a certified pre owned with around 50k miles, currently has 68k miles. Purchased the extended 5 yr bumper to bumper platinum warranty.

Watch out on those warranties, they usually have some sort of exclusion, usually related to body work, glass and water intrusion. However, maybe Ram Cares guy can help since this is an ongoing issue that should cover for some good will.

But, you got other options should they not cover it, such as using sealant over the crack.

Great. I just discovered the same cracks in my rear frame, after my son pointed out a lovely water stain all along the head liner, and I'm just over 40k. Suppose I'll still take it in and have the dealer look & see what happens. If they're not going to stand behind the quality of their product, and what is obviously a manufacturing defect, at least they'll have yet another case on record. Maybe someone up the chain will start paying attention & step up.

Man that sucks. My daughter set up an appointment for her 2019 Rebel to diagnose the leak she has in that truck. At this point it's tough to tell if it's the window frame or the 3rd brake light, but since there are visible cracks in the plastic I'd say it's the window frame. Her warranty expires in early August so I've been bugging her to have it looked at before then. I hope your dealership is able to work with you on getting it fixed, and hopefully @RamCares can help too.

Very frustrating. Could also be shark fin. I just narrowed mine down to the shark fin, which depending on how its parked will leak on the left or right side of the window. Looking at the headliner it appears the water is following the countours. It never leaks while driving, my theory is the water gets wicked away from the fin while in motion. When it sits, water puddles around the fin and creeps in through the gap in the gasket, which I assume is to let water out

Could be the sharc fin of course. And it's definitely worth considering if I'm ever troubleshooting it myself. Although I haven't read about many people having problems with that leaking. By far the vast majority of problems have been traced to the 3rd brake light or the rear window frame.

Well, mine is leaking (again). I bought my truck in October, 2018 and it made it until February, 2020 (16 months) before it started leaking. Dealer replaced the rear window on February 13th… well it started leaking again yesterday (16 months later). Truck has 33,500 miles on it.. it goes in Tuesday for eval. Really getting sick off this $hit. As much as I really like my truck, I have had a lot of issues with it. I am seriously considering getting rid of it. My original plan was to keep it for 100k miles.. not so sure any more. Very frustrated.8370304C-653E-4FE0-9E93-39A03D7CC889.jpeg0E7FC8F1-C6F7-4C49-A449-9D30ADC15168.jpeg

I'm going to pay close attention to mine. When I went through the car wash I noticed some water droplets on the rear seat and window. It wasn't too bad, but I feel like this is the beginning to what's going to be a leaky rear window.

Wow. I cannot believe this is still happening. I had 3rd brake light leak on my 2015. It got so bad that I couldn't use auto car wash. I would literally have a stream of water coming down from the roof above my driver's side passenger seat. I traded it recently with the issue and the dealer can fix it (or not) for the next guy. I ran my '19 through an auto wash the other day and didn't see anything, but I will definitely be keeping a very close eye or hand washing whenever I have the time.

I check mine every time it rains. It’s been fine since they replaced the rear window.. until yesterday. It was pouring out and I noticed one drop when I got in my truck after work. By the time I got home it was dripping down the glass and on to my seats.

Just to expand on this a bit, does any of the extended warranties offered by Mopar cover the rear window frame?

I had my back window replaced yesterday for a water leak (not cracked) under factory warranty. The glass company failed to tighten a seat belt bolt. It was only a few threads in!!!!! The dealership also had the glass company clean the stained headliner which is still stained. They are going to try to clean it again or they will have to order a new headliner (which requires removal of the windshield).

If they were smart they would have tried to clean the headliner first and verify it can be cleaned before replacing the rear window.

You might try cleaning the headliner yourself to avoid the windshield replacement. Some people have seen good results using a rag dampened with hydrogen peroxide (not dripping with it). Just blot the stained areas with the cloth and it should remove the stains according to them. There is a thread here that talks about it. I realize it would be covered under warranty, but I know I'd prefer not having someone perform unnecessary surgery on my truck if I could take care of something myself for next to nothing.
