Rambox bed divider/extender, officially no longer an extender

I know on my build, Non Ram Box, I paid 445.00 for the bed utility group. At the time they didn't share that Non Ram Box does not get the bed Divider just the rails and tie down hooks. The Bed rails and hooks can be purchased as a OEM Kit for 226.00. Now the web site shows this in the details of the Bed Utility Group "Truck Bed Cargo Divider (Unavailable with some configurations)" and the Trailer Tow Group details now shows "Surround-View Camera (N/A w/Trailer-Tow Mirrors)" as well as it didn't before. I guess they caught on folks are pissed over them not disclosing this and getting ripped off

My dealer told me this as well. I still got the pins and installed them. The new regulation is viewing from an angle. The extender ( which is considered part of the vehicle ) that's different from something in the bed... Will block the view of taillights when looked at on an angle. The regulation states they must both be visible. At least thats the story my dealer gave me!
I'm guessing there are certain angles in play. This would explain the shape of the accessory extender.

The angle view consideration is plausible, however i cant see many vehicles front turn signal from an angle either (say, at a 4-way stop, if they are on my left and turning left)

Also, the extender comes out from the truck at an angle. Aftermarket typically come out straight then curve, so i see no difference there.

Both are accessories, the fact that a temporary bed extender from the OEM may partially block one of the taillights from an angle is a poor reason to regulate it away, when there are still 2 clearly viable brake lights when you include the 3rd brake like on the cab.

Just confirmed with a friend at work who traded his DS RamBox for a DT RamBox, you are indeed able to swap the DS hardware to the DT no problem and use the bed extender.

Anyone have necessary Mopar PN's for the hardware ? Might as well get them before they sell out of their stock.

Damn
I needed a bed extender literally just today!

the one on my last rebel was installed too tight and didn't fit.
Never got to use it on either rebel I've had.
Love the trucks but that one irked me

Does anyone have a part number for the lock or pins? (Not sure what to call them?)

Just 2 each, but you'll also need whatever bolts/hardware that hold them in place.

2 each and they come with the bolts. Just pop out the plastic plugs and screw them in with a Torx bit.

Be aware, this new configuration change over the "Extender" (literally just the Divider panel, flipped over and attached to the extender lugs) is causing some delivery issues that buyers of which buyers should be wary.

At least some trucks (e.g. mine) where the BUG was ordered with a price that included the Bed Divider panel (from the parts department, I obtained the "Dealer CONNECT" documentation for my VIN that proves it) are being delivered without the pegs or even the panel itself - although the BUG package price went up $100 (from $350 to $450) while I was waiting on delivery. I can accept that we are subject to a pricing change during the order process. But I don't accept to lose something I understood to be included in that price.

If you get caught in the same position as me, be sure to self-advocate and get what you originally agreed was included in the price of the package. My dealer did eventually agree to make good my original expectation. They ordered me the part, and are fighting FCA themselves for the money. By the way, the MOPAR aftermarket MSRP for the bed divider/extender panel is.....wait for it.....$1,010 (um, seriously?).....https://www.moparpartsinc.com/a/Ram...7574668/Ram-Box-DividerExtender/i2386734.html

That above link also appears to include all the Extender pegs if someone wants to look into sourcing them themselves.

WOW. I picked up my 4th gen divider/extender used for $100 i think, and saw others at the time for $150.

Hard to tell what all you need for the extender pegs/lock, but looks like only $16

I've been trying to order. Many sites show out of stock or discontinued. I got one order in, but got a response back that the parts are backordered and indefinite delivery.

Somebody with a CNC mill could make some side money. Just sayin.....

My guess is that the extender is not illegal in terms of, if you use one or not. Only in terms that the manufacturer has rules and regulations THEY must go by for producing and selling a car. The new regs mist have been implemented for this model year.

There should be nothing stopping you from ordering a part like any other part and installing it. If DOT were to inspect your vehicle, as in commercial types, then MaYBE theyd order you take it off. But state by state, I am quite positive it would never be an issue.

Manufacturers are simply not allowed to sell them as a factory on an OEM vehicle.

As far as them "taking it back", I also highly doubt they are confiscating them, unless someone had one taken away by a dealer (in which case the dealer was probably wrong). I suspect more likely they will dismantle it, consider their job done, and you leave with all parts in the bed.

You put it on at home.

Its like vehicle heights, and other things that people mod, but would not pass oroginal DOT muster for a sold car. Headlights, etc.
