I had a dealer try something similar with me back in 2022 when I was casually starting to look at Rams. I found one that was a 1 owner Laramie, CPO, and ticked almost all the boxes on the features. It was one of those "if I can get a good deal, i'll sacrifice a couple options" moments. Got there, looked it over and noticed some poorly applied touch up paint on the front bumper, but did the test drive anyways. Went in to talk numbers, and they hit me with all kinds of add-ons, including an aftermarket GPS tracker (not lojack, but I can't remember the name of what it was). I told them I wasn't interested in that and to take it off. They said "we can't do that". I said, sure you can. It's aftermarket, installed by you, so you can take it off. They insisted they couldn't, so I said fine, show me what you're willing to give me on my F150, and they came in $5k UNDER the LOW end of KBB. I told them they weren't even close to low value on KBB let alone fair value, and pulled out a copy of the KBB value I had printed that morning before heading there. They then tried the "well, we use NADA, not KBB." I said, Ok fine, here's the NADA print out as well. Their last line of defense was "well, if we're going to pay top dollar for yours, you're going to pay top dollar for ours". My final response was "no, no i'm not. Now give me back the keys to my truck." They tried stalling by "oh we're trying to find the guy who was inspecting it, I don't think he's done with it". It took me pointing out that I could see my truck parked in the exact same front row spot I had left it in and getting loud enough for the entire dealership to look over at us for them to hand over my keys.
The kicker was the salesman called me the next day and said "have you had a chance to re-think your situation?" Simply hanging up on the guy I think got my point across. If you're in the Charlotte area, stay away from Keffer CDJR in Matthews. Bunch of crooks and you'll find many reviews among the inflated 5 star ones that tell the same thing.
