Price negotiated from MSRP

Damn, that's hard to beat. I'm getting between 5-6% off invoice. Anyone know of a dealership offering 7% or more off invoice on the west coast?

You gotta weigh your options.
5-6% off invoice might be better depending on dealer fees etc.

2021 National Retail Consumer Cash $1500
Retail Bonus Cash $2500
Chrysler Capital Bonus Cash $500
and Mid-Atlantic Chrysler Capital Bons $750

so $5250 in incentives
If your dealer is aggressive, he should be coming to the table with another $5k+/- in dealer discount.
 
I do apologize ahead of time for asking so many questions, but as I have never had a vehicle built in two and a half decades of driving, and have only purchased one new - I'll have to ask you to bare with me... and please correct anything I'm mistaken on

So as I understand things (combining what I've garnered here and from other threads):

I'll use Mastabob's as an example since it's above this post for easy access:
2021 Ram 1500 BH 4x4, eTorque Hemi, Night Edition, Premium Lighting, Lvl 2 (I priced Crew Cab with 5'7" box) gives me an

MSRP: $47,020 (per Ramtrucks.com)

So now that I have my MSRP in hand, a quick search shows I'm not employed by an affiliate (local government), so I join access fund or tread lightly.
Mass email local dealers with my specs and await their pricing.
Do the legwork to verify what rebates, incentives I may be entitled to
Once build cost has been determined and agreed upon, get everything in writing - realistic aim should be 16-19% below MSRP
Now discuss trade in value for current vehicle - if they're being transparent, this should have nothing to do with the above mentioned
Place hold amount on vehicle (recommended with credit card)
Await delivery and trade in vehicle at that time.


What have I missed, or misunderstood?
What I learned was that, if you are ordering, 14% off MSRP is about all you will get at the time you place the order. You don't get to 16-19% or beyond until you add any rebates available upon delivery. You can certainly get there, but they won't be an explicit part of your deal. What will be a part of your deal is the agreement that, in addition to the dealer discount, they'll ALSO let you add rebates available when it arrives. This is what those of us who've had discussions or followed through with Aaron at Mark Dodge were offered.

Secondly, you may not get anything more than 15-16% if you ALSO take 0% financing, if it's available. But rest assured, compared to a 3.5% loan, 0% is worth about $5000 on a $60K purchase.

Affiliate Rewards gets you to 1% below factory invoice. On a Limited, factory invoice was about 8% below MSRP. A dealer going 7% or more below invoice doesn't care about Affiliate Rewards, even if you are eligible. So don't worry that you don't qualify.

Good advice. Everyone should be calculating percentage off MSRP or Invoice after all non-government taxes or fees have been added.

This is true. I'm still getting calls about trading in my wife's vehicle that we unloaded over a year ago. Even got one from the sales manager of a local dealership and I stood in his office and told him what we wanted and what it was going to take to retain my business (NOTHING like the below MSRP numbers I'm reading here) and he laughed me off the lot so I went to another dealership and had no problem.

Really good information, thank you! I typically draw my loan out as I generally keep a vehicles for 6 to 7 years anyway, so making a constant low car payment doesn't really bother me. As such I haven't seen any 0% offers, even with excellent credit. Closest I ever saw was 72 months for 1.99%.

I *JUST* signed for a 0% / 60 months rate with Chrysler Capital, and pick up my truck tomorrow. This rate is good through the end of the month. Chrysler Capital will be offering 0% again this year, you can count on it. They had it in the fall as well.

Did a build at local dealer on a 2021 Limited & MSRP is $68,305. They offered only 8.3% off, no exact trade amount & no guarantee of incentives at order. Talking to another dealer now who says the 16-18% off MSRP some here have reported must be on vehicles in stock for too long as markup on new orders just doesn't allow it??????????

Mine was a new arrival and had only been on the lot for a week. This was Christmas Eve that I purchased at 18%. Not sure what January incentives/discounts are available.

Don't forget that you can get quotes from the high volume dealerships list from the post in my signature.

For me, once I have my best offer I will contact General Managers to see if they can beat it.

I like that e-mail. It's very smooth. Takes all the emotion out of it and let's the businesses know this is a sale they could miss out on and that most of the sales techniques (4-square, focusing on that one accessory you "can't do without out".)

Edit: and probably rules out my new least favorite question when car shopping (if financing): "How much are you looking to pay a month?"

If no email listed, or just one of those blank "contact" us forms - I would probably call and request the sales manager. Explain you're sending over a build for a vehicle and you'll need their email to get their bid (essentially) on it. If they say you'll have to come in or other such BS, I'd say I'm not comfortable doing that with the current pandemic and request their email again. If you get it, include SB's formatted email and if you don't get it, then that dealership is clearly not comfortable sending you numbers for whatever reason and I would probably advise against dealing with them.

If no email is available use the "contact" form and ask for Fleet Managers, Internet Managers, or Sales Managers email.

In the rare instance there is no contact form or you want it quicker most people who answer the phone can give you one of these emails.

Remember dont give out your phone number or provide a fake if the form requires one or you will get many, many sales calls.
 
The problem when ordering a new Ram, at least what I was told is, the discounts cannot be determined until you've ordered it & the truck delivers.
This is exactly what Aaron at Mark Dodge told me and I'm fine with that. The price he gave he can go down depending on what incentives are there at time of delivery.

If you are looking for direct contact to an internet sales manager, or any general sales manager at a dealership. Search LinkedIn, put dealership name and the title of the contact you are looking for.

Silent Bob, Any idea what the 5-8% off factory invoice you quoted relates to as far as percentage off MSRP?
