A bad ground. There is no part number, they fixed the ground.@bfcollins, can you post a PDF of your dealer invoice that shows the part number?
I had wondered if something like that could happen. There must be some kind of sensor, that tells if the truck is moving, to prevent it, but if that sensor is bad...... All vehicles seem to be going to electronic shifters. ( Except the HDs. They still use column shift.)My 2019 Dodge Ram Limited started malfunctioning, causing me to wreck when the shifter unexpectedly went into park while I was driving. The brakes locked up, making the truck slide, and by the time it switched back, I was already sliding off the road. (It had just rained and the roads were wet.)
I contacted the dealership about the issue four times prior to the accident. The body shop repaired the truck, but the shifter problem persists. The dealership claims the issue stemmed from the wreck, despite my explanation that it caused the wreck. They are currently attempting to fix it, but they still haven't identified the root cause.
I switched dealerships because the first one seemed incompetent. I'm hopeful that the current dealership's technicians will be able to solve the problem. Fingers crossed.

Ram gassers are 8 speeds, Cummins will get 8 speeds next yearExcept the HDs. They still use column shift.
Is that the reason for the column? Will they be dial? Some people don't like the dial, but I love it.Ram gassers are 8 speeds, Cummins will get 8 speeds next year
Column shift is due to the trans type and new 8 speeds will be electronic shift, I assume dial.Is that the reason for the column? Will they be dial? Some people don't like the dial, but I love it.
Not sure if this is the same issue you guys are having but I had a similar issue with my 2017 Cherokee. Prindle would randomly light up and say service shifter. I would have to pull over and put the car into park shut it off to cycle it and then turn it back on. That worked until it didn’t and I took it in to the dealer to fix it, I was still within my 36000 mile warranty so it was fixed with no charge. This was awhile go but if I remember correctly they replaced the transfer case wiring harness and I never had the issue again.Anyone figure out how to fix this yourself? I figured it was a bad electrical connection. Mine is getting worse. It used to be every few weeks. Now it is every time I drive.
Same issues on my 2019 BigHorn- parksense unavailable has been occurring forever it feels like but service shifter more recent (last 2 years). I'm at my end, most likely trading in soon. The issue is definitely heat sensitive, as mine just went 8 months without dinging through Michigan fall, winter, and spring. Once summer weather rolled around it's been nonstop again (occured previous summer). Occasionally it will go into limp mode although rare. It did happen to us in the middle of bumper-to-bumper traffic in Atlanta and my wife was ready to give it away right then.Hi guys. I am new to this. Have a 2019 1500 and I have the park sense issues myself. If I back up the brakes lock up and at random times the front sensors turn off. I literally just got the service shifter warning 10 minutes ago. I did notice that it doesn’t do it in the morning when it’s 90 degrees outside. But in the middle of the day when it’s blazing hot 115 degrees it does this
I had almost identical issue, got so bad this week that truck (2019 Rebel, 5. 7) would put itself in park. Anyway, I opened up plastic on driver side wall under dash and reseated Park Sense Module wires and both problems are fixed. Idea came from this thread, pg2 with Ground wire issue, apparently just loosened up. Next step, sell and never buy another Chrysler product! This isn't only issue I've had, center monitor will shut off randomly, truck has shut off while driving 2x when monitor went out, of course the dealer never found any codes so those undertrained wastes had no idea how to addressI speak for a growing number of 2019 and up 5th Gen RAM 1500 owners. We are having serious electrical issues with the "PARK SENSE & SERVICE SHIFTER" systems. The Park Sense shuts off without warning, then turns back on along with a SERVICE SHIFTER message (and check engine light) appearing on the Dashboard Message Screen. There are no codes being held in memory, but yet our trucks continue daily to have these issues. They continue to shut off the PARK SENSE and or lock the truck into PARK...........WE NEED RAM TO GET AN AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRICAL DETECTIVE, NOW!!!!!!!....................So far I've have had to deal with the INADEQUATE, IMPROPERLY TRAINED employees, that cant find their butts with a map and both hands!...All RAM knows how to do is BREAK YOUR BANK ACCOUNT by throwing unneeded parts at your vehicle....I have spoken with numerous 5th Gen Ram 1500 owners recently, that are having this same ongoing electrical system issue, and the only thing any of us are getting out of RAM, is "WE DON'T KNOW WHATS WRONG, BUT KEEP GIVING US YOUR MONEY!"
I see you're recent, I just posted this morning the fix that worked for me: I had almost identical issue, got so bad this week that truck (2019 Rebel, 5. 7) would put itself in park. Anyway, I opened up plastic on driver side wall under dash and reseated Park Sense Module wires and both problems are fixed. Idea came from this thread, pg2 with Ground wire issue, apparently just loosened up. Take our your floor mat, pull the plastic wall under dash towards you to pop out 2 clips, Monitor is box mounted to wall, pull those wire plugs and reseat, or maybe start with just pushing plugs in, good luckSame issues on my 2019 BigHorn- parksense unavailable has been occurring forever it feels like but service shifter more recent (last 2 years). Today it dinged "service shifter" 20+ times as I slowly rolled through dealership lots looking at possible replacements. Being so annoying and consistent I swung through the RAM service and had them quickly connect a reader. All that showed up was "lost communication with parking assist control module." Could be a bad wire? ground? connection? harness? I have no idea where to even start and am not going to have them attempt random part replacements. I'm open for any ideas to narrow down cause and try to fix, but can't handle the errors anymore. Please Help!!

Any luck on what was causing itSounds like the problem I'm having as well. Only seems to occur when it's hot out (around 90F). Starts and drives fine, then Park Sense error pops up, immediately followed by Service Airbag System, then Stop/Start Unavailable Service Stop/Start System. The latter two have their own icons light up in the cluster as well. Bringing it in at the end of the month (first appointment I could get with a technician). Fingers crossed they figure out where the gremlin is. My fear is there's no 'memory' of the error in the computer, and if they don't see it themselves, they'll say there's nothing they can do. I have photos of the errors, and will be showing them links to this forum. Hoping that's enough evidence to dig deeper.
checked today for my vin no recall for this issue, 2019 ram 5.7 Longhorn. I bought it used over a year ago no issues until this showed up a month or so ago and has progressively gotten worse, I have reseated the big harness to the front parksensors but no luck gonna try resetting the parksense wires mentioned here a little further in the thread.Hello all I’ve been dealing with this service shifter/Park sense sensor/Auto start disable! Light issue for months. I just recently discovered that ram Chrysler Jeep Dodge has issued a recall on the power control module (PCM). If you contact the dealer and give them your VIN they will conduct a software update on your vehicle. Please see the link provided Look for Vehicle Recalls | Official Mopar® Site
