Not so good trip to SC

The wife and I drove to Murrells Inlet, SC for a week and were a little unhappy about two things with the truck. First, the brakes started squealing and continue to do so at this point. Second, and most disappointing was, upon starting our return trip back to NJ, the volume to the navigation and radio/stereo would only come on at the highest volume. I was used to the Navi starting at volume level 14 but I just adjusted it lower when it started. This issue is a whole different animal all together. The radio and Navi go right to the highest volume setting, probably damaging the speakers, even if set to level one. I called the service rep and he had never heard of this before, so off to the dealer the truck goes tomorrow morning. A little disappointing to say the least, considering the vehicle has less then 4000 miles at this point. Not to mention I could not use the Navi OR radio for the 12 hour trip!!!
On the plus side, my MPG lie o meter listed my average trip fuel economy as 20.0 (with factory size BF KO2's) so I got that going for me, which is nice. The vehicle is also very comfortable on long trips.

That's horrible, for me that may be one of the worse things that can happen on a long road trip. I feel your pain, that would mean I have to hear the wife talk for 12 hours.

Ugh. Hope it’s just a flash fix. The squealing needs to be addressed now by Ram and a fix should be sent to everyone who bought new trucks.

Squeaky brakes, no prob. Crap software glitches on an expensive truck, unacceptable.

Maybe add your trucks specs and options in your sig, so other members can compare notes.

Okay, truck sat overnight and I just tried radio/navi and back to normal. No clue what that was about but still taking truck in for brakes and to have them run a test on truck to see if something pops up.
I also noticed that the sound to park sensor only sounds sometimes, which is strange too.

I think there is a way to hard reset the infotainment center on the fly. I *believe* you hold down the volume and tune knobs at the same time.

I believe it is the phone and voice recognition buttons now. I know you could reset the older units that way but I saw someone post on here that the phone and VR button works. I told a few people to hold the tune and volume buttons originally but was told that didn't work.

Is there a case created on the Customer Care side to formally document what you experienced? Send me a direct message if an additional layer of assistance is needed. Very sorry for the inconvenience caused.

The below reset procedure has NOT been confirmed to work yet, but it was provided to another owner (@tdwilli1 ) by Ram so worth a shot. Let us know if the soft reset works, and/or helps.

Hold VR and Phone buttons on steering wheel for 30 seconds with vehicle in ACC. Then turn vehicle off, open driver door for 30 seconds.

Can someone confirm this is the correct soft-reset procedure?

A little bit ticked right now. I madea 9:30 am apt online, show up at 9 to drop it off. I call at 2 pm and ask for the status. I am then told that they could not get to it today and were not sure when they would. Why the heck did I make an online service apt if they had no intention of getting to it today!!? To top it off they gave me a Camry as a loaner car.
Yes, we did have great food while down there.
RamCares, where do I get this customer care request number?

Shoot them a PM with your VIN and it's probably a good idea to let them know what dealer it is at as well.

I sent you a message and received no response. I went to pick up the truck today and of course they told me there was nothing wrong with the brakes (could not replicate the sound), did an upgrade for the sensors, did an upgrade on the radio. After a few choice words, I told them I would videotape the brakes squealing and the radio if it acted up again.
To top off my day, when we started pulling away, the truck made a totally new sound like it was bogging down. So needless to say, I left it there after taking a ride with a mechanic and he heard the sound right away. To say we are frustrated would be an understatement, but I would appreciate a response to my messages I sent to RamCare.

I learned using the “at” symbol in front of RamCares (like -> @RamCares ) notifies them of a post and helps them find these comments... good to help the small (but appreciated!) customer assustance crew.
