After contacting FCA I was told the tsb does not apply to my truck and to book it in to have it diagnosed.

Dropped the truck off this morning and the dealer told me that along with the “tailgate ajar warning lamp” you have to have other options aswell?? Like WTF?? So even tho it is listed on my build sheet I don’t have a tailgate ajar warning? Makes no sense, calling fca now to get another opinion.

Sounds like a class action waiting to happen....

Not quite sure how you can pay for a listed feature and FCA says "oops".

Got an answer, not what I was expecting. I need to call them and figure out why.

Dealer said they took apart the tailgate and said I don’t have the correct “option” to get a tailgate ajar warning. If my build sheet lists “tailgate ajar warning lamp” it better have whatever sensor or module required for it to function. It would be like have the electronic locking rear differential but not the button to lock it...

Oh, I forgot to mention that my truck came with a little bag of stuff for when you remove your tailgate so it doesn’t warn you constantly that it is open..

So the star case post earlier in this thread has the same case number as one they left in my truck basically saying it won’t work unless I have multi function tailgate or lane keep assist. Neither of those have “tailgate ajar” as part of their option list. Also my build date is 02/20 so that tsb should not apply.

It’s pretty sad that you can enable it with 3rd party equipment but the engineers at ram haven’t gotten it to work for some reason. An option you pay for should be enable by default, not disabled.

Customer care has informed me that there is no eta when this option will be reenabled and to keep bugging my dealer until it is.

For now I have filed a complaint with CAMVAP which is a free arbitration process available in Canada to resolve disputes with dealers/manufacturers. It’s a lengthy process but it will at least show them that owners would like the options they pay for to be enabled on their $80k trucks.

I have a 2020 Bighorn level 2, night edition. No special safety upgrades. If mine is "ajar" in the display it will beep and show a picture of the truck with a tailgate ajar icon. Standard tailgate.

I laughed when the dealer told me you had to have the multi function tailgate or parking assist feature to have the tailgate ajar warning. There is no reason that I know of why it shouldn’t work and owners are having to purchase 3rd party software and equipment to enable it because the engineers at FCA won’t do their jobs and turn it on.

My Big Horn has the tailgate ajar warning but no warning light for low washer fluid? Weird.

My laramie does not have lane departure. It has blind spot monitoring. I have tailgate ajar option listed on my build. It DID work at one time I saw it. Then it STOPPED working after the dealer did a software update. This is unacceptable. We paid for an option. Not sure what we do from here though.

My rebel definitely has a ajar warning when it is open the 60/40 way. I’ll have to see about down normal.

Is XH5 (Parallel and Per Park Assist w/Stop) the same as lane keep assist? Is there a way to see my sales codes to configured options?

I have lane keep assist, but I don't see "Parallel and Per Park Assist w/Stop" on my equipment sheet. When I pull a Limited vin that's for sale at a local dealer, they have a specific item that matches the code text listed in the star case. Looking back at my trip to the dealer for this, they said you must have the 360 camera. This would exclude all Rebels with the normal tailagte

My guess is that 50$ for AlfaODB is cheaper than a suing... anyone know if the tazer DT also functions as a secuirty bypass for AlfaODB. If I can solve this in 5 min and $50, I may just do it and stop stressing.

I just got off the phone with RAM and they told me to see if my dealer can fix this. Even after I told them the dealer said that the case number for the above isn’t for my truck. There response was try another dealer. Cool but the next closest dealer is 6.5 hours away. I asked them to create and elevate my case to the Ext higher level. I paid for something and I didn’t get it, something needs to be done. Especially since we can use a 3rd party program to enable this function.

i wonder if we can report this as a safety issue and force it to be recalled, if someone is driving down the highway not knowing their tailgate is open and something falls out it could cause an accident. There’s been recalls for less of an issue that this.

Edit: filed a complaint with transport Canada. I lost a cooler at low speeds due to someone not closing the tailgate, with no warning on the trucks display I was unaware. This could easily cause an accident.

What documentation if any did you provide?

No documentation. I just typed up my experience of losing stuff out of the back of my truck as I drove down the street without knowing the tailgate was open. As well as that I took it to the shop and was told that my safety feature is purposely disabled despite being listed on my build sheet.

I have the feature listed under "standard" on window sticker - but no indicator in truck :(
