New Sequential Turn Signals For Our Mirrors(Sorry Tow Mirror Guys, Not You..lol)

I can't figure how to get the glass off.

I got the lights and I incorrectly bought an 8 inch vacuum suction cup.

Now I have a 5 inch one and I don't think I can fully tighten it as it feels like something is cracking inside (but the glass isn't breaking so no idea)

When I pull kind of gently I don't feel like anything is letting go.

I looked for more videos and its just a bunch of people breaking their very expensive glass and or not showing the actual removal.
My truck has been in the sun for a lot of the day and it's around 40 degrees outside to not that cold.

Should I be trying to turn the middle in a circle pattern while pulling on it? I don't want to be our $350+ buying new side view mirror glass.

Pops straight out. I have only used the screwdriver to pry from back side. Haven't used a suction cup. But it's going to take quite a bit of force trying to pull with a suction cup. Heat shouldn't matter.

Did you adjust the power mirror to face all the way down first and stick a screwdriver in the top?
I only say the temp because plastic can get brittle when it's really cold and make snapping stuff off harder without breaking it. It was -10 last weekend.

Yes, have to be careful where you place the screwdriver.

I just stuck my suction cup to the center of the mirror and pulled firmly until it popped right out.

I just tried it again.

At first I was going for the wrong clips and then I realized it was was closer to the glass.

The problem is the clips are so rigid they don't bend\flex.

I even tried using 2 screw drivers 1 stuck on the flap that stays in to help twist\pry it forward while the other one attempts to lift the plastic claw.

Unfortunately I can't get the plastic claw to bend\lift, and I can't physically get my screwdriver at an angle to attempt to put it underneath, I can only get it from the top, and near the corners not the middle because there is some extra plastic in the top middle.
I tried 3 differnet clips and none of them move in the slightest, it's very hard plastic that i'm 100% would break (and likely the thin glass also) if I just used the suction cup because the grip would get stronger the more I pull.

I went to the passenger side for a quick look, and it's even tighter there for some reason (where you would put your screw driver in).

What do dealerships do? I wonder if there is a special Mopar tool they use. Maybe an angled flat head or something really weird? Or maybe they just use a suction cup shatter it and then charge the customer or warranty for a replacement. It's probably not a common item to remove if the glass isn't broken already.

These are what I used. The yellow one can only get to 2 of the 4 top clips, the black one gets to them but can't lift them.

I had a thinner shaft screwdriver about the length of yours with black handle. The "clips" aren't right in the center of mirror. The screwdriver needs to be directly on the back of mirror, just outside the clip. Mine popped off pretty easy, but it was a 55 degree day the last set I did. Kind of come in from the top outside corner with mirror tilted all the way down.

It is 50 degrees today.
I will try to take a picture but it was kind of hard. Even holding a flashlight at an angle and being able to see it kind of hard (had to close my right eye LOL)

Yeah, when I get home from work, I can try and get a video

Just gave up again.
On the top right of the mirror I can get 1 clip to lift off, but without keeping it bent out it goes in, the 7 other clips are so tight that I still can't ease it out with a suction cup in my other hand.

I think this picture shows it better (driver side mirror). I can get it up and see it separate a little when I pull the cup, but I can't get the other nearby clip to budge, and I can't to the other side without adjusting the power mirror

I tried giving both mirrors a good yank with the 5 inch suction cup but nada.

I called the dealership and the replacement glass for my truck is $350 a side ouch.
He said he used a suction cup before, but he asked his foreman and the instructions they have are to "turn the mirror all the way inwards to the truck, place thumbs on the backside of the plastic and pull outward" He explained it was turning the mirror all the way in and pulling it out by hand, on the side not the top.

So funky.

I just got out the driver side doing a combination of suction cup and bending the outside of the mirror in (with it facing normal but inwards to the truck)
I don't even want to install the blinkers anymore, I feel successful removing the glass without shattering it.

Personally, I wouldn't try prying in the mirror line that as you stand greater risk of flexing it and cracking glass. It's not very thick glass.

You still have screwdriver in wrong position for popping mirror off.

Ive no idea how else the screwdriver could get in there. Maybe its because the thickness of the shaft, but there is no other way to get it in.

The only other problem I had was my driver side's mirror has the wrong memory preset for some reason. The passenger side was fine but the driver side goes to some weird all the way left, but I can get it back in the right spot using the adjuster so not sure what happened on that side vs the left.
I also got the light that had the 2 pin cable coming out as I thought the extra space would be better then just the outlet, but I didn't realize the OEM just had the outlet and not an external plug anyways.
Mine look just like OP.
I wish it was a little brighter, and the beams were wider to match my existing headlights but it serves it's purpose of being blacked out. Not bad for $60.

I have the screwdriver turned a little so you can see it, but you want it flat against the mirror. Then just pry out. You can see the size I use. You do t put it on the clip itself.PXL_20230210_233634992.jpgPXL_20230210_233911372.jpg

I just put the suction cup in the center of the mirror and kept pulling with more and more force straight til they popped right out. Easy peasy. I was scared to crack it but said what the hell and pulled right in the center til they popped right out. No screw drivers used at all

Yep, suction cup works perfectly.
