Mopar LED Bed Lights Install?

I crawled under my truck and noted the part number for the right tail lamp jumper as 68523846AA. Mopar Parts Surplus designates this as “[Pickup Box]”, which is consistent with my 2022 Bighorn without bed lights.

Mopar Parts Surplus designates part 68523847AA as “[Pickup Box], [Pick-Up Box Lighting]”.

Sure enough part 68523848AA is designated as “[RamBox Cargo Management System], [Pick-Up Box Lighting]”.

Mopar.com shows fitment for all of these jumpers fitting only the 2022 Ram models.

All other part numbers discussed earlier in this thread appear unchanged. To confirm, I checked the left jumper on my truck as well with the part numbers discussed earlier.

While others have confirmed the original right harness noted earlier in this thread has worked for this mod in the 2022 Rams, I think for the right jumper I’m going with part 68523847AA.

I’ll need a few weeks to order and install to confirm if it works.

The attached images are my original part numbers without the bed lights for my 2022 Bighorn.

Be very interested too hear how it goes, just wasn’t sure of the same jumper wiring for right tail light

Yes, it is a little nerve racking. But some clues suggest this should work, like the description includes bed lighting. Worth the risk I think. Last thing I want to do is run new wire to front of truck. And if it doesn’t work I can still go with old harness part number.

Update-lead time and delivery plus hand surgery, could be March before I can get this installed. Unless parts get here really, really fast.

Ok...stupid question #3...is there a good video/website tutorial on how to set up and run everything (OBD...AlfaOBD...etc). Last thing I need is to screw something up. My wife would make me a drive a Yugo if that happened.
Hi, I also would be interested in your tutorial because I installed the bed lights in my 2019 and I can't activate them with my AlfaOBD and KAOdTECH bypass. Thanks

Can I use these harness for my 2019 Ram Bighorn. I brought and installed the Mopar bedlights ran the wires to the cab but can't activate them with AlfaOBD

Here is exactly what I ordered for my 2022 Ram Bighorn Level 1. I have NOT confirmed these work yet, and I will require at least two to three weeks to confirm due to hand surgery. I ordered all parts from BAM Wholesale Parts.

Why did you decide to risk ordering the alternate part number (68523847AA) for the right-side jumper when the other number (68488862AA) has been confirmed to work?

I want to add the lights to mine and I'm just curious as to your reasoning.

Thanks.

I wasn't sure how to connect them. I have a 2019 Longhorn, If you know of a video on how to or if you know how I would appreciate the link. I have the items I need to pin them so I figured I would try.
Thanks

You will need the complete kit from Mopar. The extra wiring isn't there for 2019/2020 to use the jumper wires.

Hi all,

See post #103 below update. All the parts I ordered for my ‘22 Bighorn work perfectly.

I ordered the parts for my year Ram model, in which both left and right harnesses are described as "[Pickup Box], [Pick-Up Box Lighting]". The parts’ description helped confirm options that exist and those I wish to add. In this case, I want to add "Pickup Box Lighting". Other harnesses for my year have different descriptions (like Ramboxes, which I do not have), and from my earlier post, the descriptions for my existing harnesses do not include "Pickup Box Lighting". So, the harnesses I ordered should be the ones I need to add "Pickup Box Lighting". See this link:

Also, since the kit that works for all years has not changed (still re-pin same spot), I didn’t want to potentially mess up something else by getting the wrong harnesses.

Installing the drivers side was super easy. The passenger side took longer, but was not hard. I saved time by not trying too hard to save the clips on the old harnesses. Once installed inside the box, the lights’ wires drop down and are easy to reach. Everything else is also easy to get to and all the clips are in very logical places. One thing I did was trace, or hold the new harnesses side by side to the old harness while it was still installed to get an idea how the new harness would install. I also disconnected the negative battery terminal. I also printed the instructions (below). This was somewhat helpful for installing the lights inside the box.

I included a few pictures from the passenger side harness install (I lowered the spare to run the new harness).

I didn't know the tailgate switch would activate the bed lights! Cool, I've already got my switch and harness in.

Question, why did you opt for a right-side harness different from the one others have used with success on 2022 models?

See also post 94 above.

Others in the related “tailgate ajar” thread say the bed lights come on with the right tail gate switch. But also, the switch allows me to activate the tailgate ajar warning. I have a bed cover, and that seems useful.

I just completed this install and activated using AlfaOBD. Everything appears to be working. I followed the chart listed above for my year and trim.

2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn
Equipment Group Level 1
Tow package
w/o RamBox

Parts:

68311431AD left wiring harness
68352421AD right wiring harness
68352421AB Left Cargo Lamp
68312566AB Right Cargo Lamp

The factory install methods is far less complicated than running wire and using zip ties. You need a 10mm socket and pry tool for the clips (or not, seeing as you wont be reusing them).
Just drop the spare tire, push it aside, remove the old harnesses and attach the new ones. The lights came with wiring that drops into the hole for easy connection once you're done.

What/where are the AlfaOBD settings you had to enable?

Okay, just to be clear. On my 2022 1500 Laramie, (w/o Ram box) I can just buy the two lights + two wire harnesses, and use my OBD JScan app to activate these bed lights, correct?

The factory kit which runs wires up to the cab is a totally different option, correct? (Which I am not interested in from the videos I've seen.) Thanks!
