Mishimoto R&D: RAM 1500 5.7L V8 Catch Can Kit

Hey everybody,

Most everybody should have received their catch cans by now. I'm looking forward to hearing more of what you think about it and the install process (especially you @Cmerkert ;))!

Thank you all for your patience!

Of course. Just shoot me a PM so I’m sure to see it. Thanks Steve.

Hey @Patsy1099,

@RBRK is going to take this can, and I believe the other kit I can sell is reserved for @Charger68 since he had to cancel his order due to the original backorder issue. So unfortunately, we are truly sold out now. If you want to place an order, you'd just be added to a backorder list and your order will be filled when we have stock again.

Thanks,
-Steve

All Good, and already placed under the Hood! Can came in on Friday. Installed on Saturday. Thanks for the blow up ball and air freshener. My son liked it.

Steve from mishimoto reached out and resolved the situation favorable. I reordered the kit and look forward to installing on my ram. Good customer service without a doubt. Probably install the ebay can on my staight piped 3/4 ton. Thanks again

My only minor complaint with the install is that I wish shorter clamps were provided, especially the one for the return line on the engine. It’s awfully hard to tighten without the extra length of the clamp not resting on the sensor.

@Jwpark1975 ...I had the same issue and contacted Steve. He confirmed that what we were shipped were the wrong size clamps. I just went to my local hardware store and bought smaller clamps since I wasn't happy either...no biggie. He stated that the wrong parts were placed in the bags and was going to ensure that all future shipments were corrected.

agree. The whole thing took me 45 minutes to do but putting on the damn plastic Hemi cover top of the engine took another 20 minutes till I finally realized it was the clamp that was preventing the back left corner from getting the two pegs to see inside the rubber o openings. I couldn't get that damn cover back on for the life of me. The clamps could have been much smaller I thought about going into my sprinkler hose clip collection in the basement. Lol other than that it was super easy and looks great

Hey guys,

I confirmed with the engineer that we did update the clamp size for future orders. The clamps that you received are within their clamping range and will seal, they just leave a long tail like you saw. If you'd like smaller clamps, 16-25mm (5/8" to 1") would be the ideal size. We have some in stock here, so if you're having issues with install because of the clamps, just give our customer service a call and they can get the smaller size sent out.

Thanks!
-Steve

I just cut the tails off. Not a big deal

Did this a week ago, added a ball valve and tubing for easy draining. I intend to drain it tomorrow so I have an idea of the volume generated.

Looks nice @Nick54 but you don't even need the hose attached to the valve. You can simply place a cup right under the valve and let it drain right into a cup without issue since it is so easily accessible.

So true, I just like using an empty 5qt oil jug and then bring that and other waste oil to my local Autozone for disposal.

Nick which ball valve did you use? I think that's the route I am going to go when I finally put mine on Tuesday (assuming I don't get called in again)

After reading this thread I just ordered the catch can. I really appreciate Steve's candid response, and efforts to correct each customer's issue. (y)

Sorry it took a while to respond. Purchased the valve at Ace Hardware https://www.acehardware.com/departments/plumbing/valves/ball-valves/40556
Not sure the valve link is 3/8" FM but that's what I used. Hope that helps.

Any update on when this will be back in stock and shipping? I'm estimating 30 days until my Ram arrives at my dealer.
