Lowered 5th gens?

I have the Belltech 2/4 kit 1060SP

I had some issues with install but it all worked out eventually. Rides like factory still and only bottoms out occasionally when you hit a sharp edge bump.

Bottoming out in the front or rear?

You might try cutting the bump stops in half, if you haven’t already. I tried that and it didn’t work for me. I removed the factory bump stops and cut off the retainer cups as well. Then installed Belltech bump stops on the plates by installing rivet nuts on the plate the retainer cups were welded to. I haven’t bottomed out since. Instructions can be found in my build thread.

I did cut the cups off and installed the BT stops that came with the kit.

When I say bottoming out, I do not mean bone jarring frame smashing hits. I mean the axle comes up and hits the bump stops hard enough to know it was a sharp bump. Something it did not do prior to lowering. I think the BT shocks could use a tiny bit more compression damping to soften those hits. On a rough road it does not bottom out at all. Just sharp edged bumps which there is not much you can do about that.

Being a sportsbike guy I tend to pay way too much attention to what my suspension is doing.

That’s why I added bags. I keep them
At 8psi when un loaded. It doesn’t raise the truck and I don’t bottom out.

I’m waiting for some one else to buy belltechs adjustable coil overs before I dump the money for them.

Gotcha. I guess since my setup is different in the rear, the results are different. Might need adjustable shocks. Maybe QA1’s with adjustable rebound and compression. I’ve been considering giving them a call myself to see what they have for my setup. I get the sport bike thing, proper suspension setup is very important.

I actually purchased the same bags you have based on your posts and results. Mine are sitting at 5psi for now until I get the air pump setup.

Bumping this up as I was curious, for those of you with the MaxTrac 2/4 kit, did you opt for the front upper control arms for the extra $400 or not and what is your experience?

I will probably set the front struts to 1.5-2" setting, so not sure if the upper control arms are really needed or just nice to have? The truck does under 10k miles a year so tire wear isn't a huge concern, anything close to in-spec for the alignment would work. Thanks

My plan is the MaxTrac 2/4, Spohn panhard bar (as I already have the Hellwig), replace the MaxTrac rear shocks with Bilstein 5100s and since I am a "Built to Serve" with the offroad package I need to get some stock front springs. Let me know if I am missing something. On the fence with the helper bags as I don't tow but might be better to just do them while in there.

I always see threads about leveling and lifting but very rarely do I see any lowered threads. I had a 11 Bighorn that I leveled but I brought the rear down to meet the front so it was about 2 inches. I love the look of lowered 4th gens but I havent seen many 5th gens. I have a 21 BTS that has the ORP which sits slighly higher than normal but it's got me thinking about going low instead of high. If you have any pictures of your LOWERED 5th gen can you post some pictures with a description of your mods? Thank
I’m currently looking for a way to lower my 21 Ram limited with the air ride which there’s nothing really but cutting the bump stops or replace with some bell tech which are shorter, then there’s 2.5” lowering or raising links and that’s about all. If you have any 5th gen without the air ride there’s IHC lowering kit 3/5 or belltech 3/4. I’m gonna keep looking to find a way to keep my air suspension

Yes. Get the UCAs they weren’t out when I did my kit and my alignment isn’t perfect.
