Let’s see your Dogs!

My dad passed away Monday night, F* Cancer. We adopted his dog Shasta. She's a Samoyed.

This was when she finally started to settle down and relax. I know it will take her at least a few weeks to get used to the insanity going on at our house with 2 adults, 3 kids, 2 other dogs.

Sorry for your loss. Good on you for adopting Shasta. It could take up to a few moths for her to fully adapt the her new home/environment. Just be patient. A few kids and dogs definitely add an entirely different dynamic.

Sorry for your loss

We had to put our dog down Tuesday morning. Emergency vet thinks it was brain swelling from a tumor or something. He went from being a perfectly normal dog not even a month ago, to acting like he was in pain. Initial vet visit we all thought he had hurt himself running and barking at other dogs in back yard. Pain meds and muscle relaxer didn't help. Stopped giving him the muscle relaxers and codeine, he got a little better. Then Monday night he had a seizure. Then was back to acting like he did before seizure. Was going to take to vet Tuesday morning to get checked out, but overnight he got bad fast. Was howling and unable to stand up. I've never heard this dog howl before. And it was constant. Told the wife to wake up her son and have him go with because I was pretty sure it was going to be a one way trip for the dog. And it was.

Sorry to hear that, man.

Sorry as hell to hear that. My biggest fear is something happening to either of our two girls.

Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.

If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die, I want to go where they went.

Don't know who originally said those things, but they sum it up pretty good.

Shasta (8yo) has now been with us since May and has fully adjusted to her new home. She likes to play with my boxer who is also happy to have a dog that will play with him since he is a high energy dog. Kids are enjoying her too. Unfortunately, she also likes to get dirty by digging in the back yard. Hard to be mad when she comes in covered in dirt/mud, but looks very happy. Last week she had a mud party in the living room. While my wife was chasing her, she managed to get mud on two couches, the rug, and floor.

Wife works from home a few days per week and the dogs always try to get a good spot in the office. Although she was snoring at the time, this doesn't look very comfortable with her head wedged between a trash can and desk leg.
