I had changed out the bulbs in my 3rd brake light and cargo lights in the top rear of the cab last night. I noticed last night that the key would not work in my pocket anymore and I had to have the key almost next to the ignition. This morning I tried it a couple of more places and had the same problems there as well so I ruled out the environment. I took out the new LEDs and put back in the original bulbs and all the issues went away and the key works great again in my pocket.

I'm not saying that all LEDs will have a problem but the ones I had definitely did.

These are the ones I used, you might want to stay away from them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EJKIUP8/

I hope this helps out someone else who might be having an issue.

Yep, known issue with the cheap Chicom LEDs.

Just use Diode Dynamics. Top-notch usa-made which will not interfere with your fob.

Thanks. Wish I had known it. I read through a ton of threads and never saw it. Probably just an oversight. I appreciate the recommendation.

I replaced all of my bulbs with Lasfit LED and have not had this problem.

How was the install? Do you like the LED’s? Anything you don’t like about them?

Wow, I just put in LEDs and started having this same issue and was getting pissed. Guess I'll order different bulbs.

ANTLINE work fine for my cargo lights, but not in the brake light. Yorkim and AMAZENAR also do not work for my brake light. Lasfit does work for my brake light.

I have the lasfit and am having the issue. So in the am im going to Shang the third break bulb and hope it fixes this.

Out of INSANE CURIOSITY...

Why would cargo/3rd brake LED's, interfere with keyfob being detected?

I get this sometimes - but my fob is in a pocket with a large knife and other metal objects - when I jiggle it clear (still in the pocket), it starts.

Weirdness...

Not sure if I went DD for these lights - the purchase isn't in my order history. Think I did "Super Bright LED's" for this one - though I've used DD stuff for almost a decade. Great service, quick warranty service.

Not cargo, but third brake light. Since you have to press the brake pedal to start, once you do, it energizes the light which causes electromagnetic interference. This usually happens with the lower quality chinese lights.

I’ve bought mine from Diode Dynamics, which are made here in America (Missouri), and never had issues.
Awesome people to deal with.

Cheers,

Those off brands always suck. Go with Beamtech or JDMastar. Reliable brands that stand by their lights! I'm about to order the BeamTech LED headlights for my Ram (halogen reflectors)

Are they fully seated?

I have LASFIT LEDs in the CHSML and throughout my cab with no problems.

Heads up if you are about to do this very common CHSML upgrade.

I also had a long term problem with inexpensive LED replacement lamps (JDM AStars) for the third brake light. About one in four starts would require me to press the start button with the key fob.

After advice on this forum, I switched out that one lamp with a Diode Dynamics replacement and the problem immediately disappeared. Full month of "keys stay in my pocket" starts confirms the inexpensive LED was the problem.

Glad to hear.
Yeah, DD LEDs are legendary. Never had an issue with them.

Jdm Astar is one of the best in the industry...very surprised you had trouble with them. I've used theirs for everything and never had a problem. Diode dynamics is just an over priced version of JDM.

DD is an American company and even make some products in the U.S. You get also get real customer service, not some moron on a translator. Beamteach and JDM are hardly what I would consider namebrand, and I'd be hesitant to use either for a headlight. I put a Beamtech in for projector foglights in my wife's Pacifica, and the output is mediocre... but it's just a foglight, so I don't care. Mostly for looks.
