Is it possible to add Blind Spot?

** after multiple failed attempts, I got the bsm working with my ram 1500** (still have a slight issue)

Thank you to everyone who helped the community and me figure out how to add this feature by the way!

Almost all is good with my install with the exception of no sound when switching lanes and vehicle is in sight of another vehicle with the bsm mirror indicator on. Checked my radio settings and displays lights and sound but not getting sounds. Anything in alfaobd that can fix this?

Hi everyone, I have a new to me 2024 RAM 1500 Rebel Crew truck that came with the big tow mirrors with power, heat, turn signal, puddle, but they are manual fold. I am switching them to the sport model mirrors with (supposedly power folding), heat, turn signal puddle, and blind spot.

Here is what I bought to replace the manual fold tow mirrors with power folding sport mirrors:

Left mirror - 68610315AA which is supposedly power folding, heated, turn signal, puddle, memory.
Right, mirror - 68610314AA which is supposedly power folding, heated, turn signal, puddle, memory.
Drivers door window switch with power fold button - 68590582AA
Drivers door module - 68517697AB
Passenger door module - 68517696AB

I also bought Bluetooth OBD Link MX+ with bypass cable and used Jscan to inable the powered mirror activate functions. The new mirrors and door switch are installed, and the door modules were already installed in the truck from the factory. I have installed the mirrors and door switch, the mirrors appear to be working like they should, but I cannot get the power folding sport mirrors to power fold?

As best I cannot tell, these are both power folding mirrors, the door modules support power folding, and the door switch is supposed to be the right one for my truck. All the parts are new oem parts. Could maybe someone with better knowledge, or resources than me, please check my numbers and confirm I have the right parts? Is there something I am missing, or not thought of? Any help is very much appreciated.

Got around to putting the AE module in and still getting the same “blind spot alert unavailable. See dealer” error code. Turns out the one of two AE modules I bought wasn’t the same as the listed part number and it was an AC. Looking for another AE in the meantime.

I tried to activate just the left sensor to see if it would work with the AE module and it came up with the same error.

Do both modules need to be activated and be the same in order to have this work? I’m getting to be at the end of my rope here trying to get this to work.

I'm pretty sure both modules need to be activated to work. I saw a video a while back on YouTube of someone diagnosing the error you mentioned and they had one good one and one bad sensor and they had the error. I will say that I just completed my install a few days ago after trying to get this mod a few times unsuccessfully. I was getting the same error you got but my problem was that the harness I made was made incorrectly. After I traced the wires back saw that I had to swap the cables on my harness in my orientation on the white box under the dash from the top to the bottom and it resolved my issue. Keep in mind that this mod will not take until some time passed probably about an hour with the fob away from the vehicle. At first I felt lost and was ready to give up after I fixed the wires and I went to eat dinner. Came back to the truck to go to the store and it started working.. Only thing I have an issue is I can't get the sound beep working but lights on the mirrors are working.

Appreciate the input and glad you got it working after all! Hopefully I’ll have the same results after I find another module.

AE modules in and same error pops up. Letting it sit for a couple errors. Going to re-check the wiring although I’m certain it’s all following the instructions. My last resort is to jump all the grounds and see if that Hail Mary works. Saw a video on YouTube where the one ground was setting off the errors. It’s always when I turn on the left blind spot sensor regardless of what’s in the right.

Checked the wiring and it’s exactly how the instructions are laid out. Swapped sensors between left and right. Still not working. Still same “Blind Spot Alert Unavailable Service Required” and code popping up. Any other ideas?

Called the dealer. They said the modules need to be initialized, code sent to higher and a pin to be sent back before the module will work. Anyone else have to do this step? I really don’t know what’s missing at this point. All grounds are working. Followed the instructions. Have canbus power all the way to the module from under the dash.

When you programmed your truck did you also turn on the mirror indicators? Did you install mirrors with the indicators? I did the tail light swap and wiring and programmed everything with the intent of adding mirrors later and had the same error. I turned off the mirror indicators and ran with sound only and it worked fine until I was able to add the mirrors

How did you turn just the sound on?

I have aftermarket tow mirrors with the blind spot light. I think I tried both on and off but at this point I can’t remember. I might just install everything again and activate everything except the mirror light, leave it overnight and hope for the best. I really doubt the dealer knows how to add this if it didn’t come from the factory but they’ll gladly charge $125 an hour to attempt it.

Are you sure you have the LED's in the mirror? I bought aftermarket mirrors stating blind spot but there is only the triangle in the glass but no LED behind it.

They do have the LED in the correct spot. As soon as I got the mirrors I tested all the features, turn signal, running light and the blind spot triangle lit up before I installed them. One of the bonuses of buying the tow mirrors was being able to add this down the road until all these speed bumps lol.

Reinstalled everything. Turned the mirror blind spot light off and still comes up with the same error. Going to let it sit overnight and hopefully it just needed some time to boot up. I might remake my harness for the CANBUS at this point. Used a wire kit from Amazon so maybe because it’s a sliver wire on the inside instead of copper it’s losing signal? Getting 2.4v at the module from the CANBUS wires though. It’s supposed to be 2.4(ish)v instead of 12v right?

So I let it sit for almost 24 hours. Still not working. Re-verified I have voltage all the way from the CANBUS lines to the module but it’s still coming up with the same error. All the pins for the module are fully inserted as well. Not sure what else to try at this point. Only happens when activating the left module.
