intermittent humming noise and vibration

I bought my 2019 1500 Christmas Eve 2018. I had this issue twice in the first month. I pulled over both times and restarted. Seemed to take care of it. Then...I start putting loads in the bed and right around 1400 RPM, didn’t matter what speed, the noise was overwhelming. Almost cancelled a couple camping trips because I didn’t think I was going to make the 150+ mile trip. I asked the dealer about it on the first recall. They had no idea. I’m scheduling another dealer appointment for the ORC recall and will ask again. They won’t find anything though. I’m going to have to load my truck and see if comes back then run to the dealer to go for a road test. I might just disconnect the #3 mic as suggested and see how that goes. Good luck with your truck.
TSB 08-033-19 this TSB will fix it. I had the EXACT same thing and that did. Trust me on this one.

Has anyone either tried or thought about just taping over the microphone perforated square tabs on the headliner?? Would that possibly work?

what I just posted WILL FIX your issue!!!

Gotcha....had it happen on my trip to a vacation rental (of course). I am making appt my with my original dealer ( I know I can use any dealer but I'd rather go where I bought truck...established a good relationship there and the service manager is great) but won't be able to get in there for a few weeks since I'm away from home.

It stopped for now (even before I opened windows....the next day I tested it and no noise inside cabin) - I was wondering if taping over the mike holes would work but guess I'll just open windows if it happens again and until tsb can be done.

I did not believe it would work when I fount the TSB but it Did! best of luck man! I've mention this many times on this forum but somehow or another people miss it and are wondering how to fix this.

when yours gets fixed help me out and let people know what fixed it. I try to keep up with this issue but there seems to be way to many people with this problem

Yep....and btw, I always planned on taking it up with the dealer (was just looking for a temp/easy to reverse fix since it will be almost 3 weeks until I can get it in there) - To each his own but, IMO it's not the best choice to go disconnecting wires, pins, pulling down headliner etc. on a new, under warranty truck where they could deny any further warranty coverage if they somehow found it was messed with or it screwed something else up. Let them bear the brunt of any fix and/or issues caused by attempted fixes done under warranty.

I talked to my original dealer service manager today.....he said he wasn't familiar with it and first thought I was referring to a wind noise issue from the rear (a TSB he knew about) but then he pulled up the current TSB list for the 19 Rams and found the one listed above for this (BIG THANKS for the TSB number !) and has me scheduled to come in as soon as I get back.

Thanks!

I purchased my 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 Tradesman 2 weeks ago and this humming noise is horrible. I am taking it in the dealer tomorrow. Does anyone have an idea of what to tell them? I will mention the ANC and hope that it the problem.

Just advise them of the issue and the TSB stated above

Hi Lydia, I also just experienced this tonight on my 2019 ram 1500. It’s a very concerning sound that is more pronounced as the truck shifts up or down. I would call it more of a “roar” or a pulsating hum than anything else. More pulsating than steady. This is the first I heard this since purchasing the truck in September. It almost feels like it’s pullimg back against the acceleration.
I just started experiencing this today. 2019 ram big horn... not impressed at all

It's been well documented here....it has to do with the headliner internal microphones and the noise cancellation system. There is a TSB out addressing it as stated above....call dealer and schedule an appt. to do the TSB. A workaround until it can be addressed is to open a window and it will stop the humming/growling noise. Some here are making this more than it needs to be....is it inconvenient?...yes, but at least they know of it and have come up with a fix for it.

ALL vehicles wind up having some kind of recall/TSB issue.....If you want a vehicle that's never going to have something like this needing to be addressed then buy a bicycle.

You can buy a bunch of Bicycles for what a new truck cost and at that expense one would expect no annoying hums!

Just bought my 2019 Bighorn, the humming started at just over 1200 miles as I was 2 hours into a 3000 mile road trip. The noise is also an intermittent humming that changes tone with the RPM/Gear shift and starts at any speed and disappears above 80mph. Regardless of whether Eco drive is on or not. The vibration can be felt through the floor and the steering wheel and made for a miserable road trip when the family were trying to sleep.
Had I heard of this I’d never have purchased it given that there doesn’t seem to be any clues as to what is causing it.

I’m no mechanic, however I know several. They believe that if the tone changes with RPM and gear shifts then the red flags point to transmission. I’m religiously loyal to Ram trucks but this has me wondering. Clearly there’s something wrong given how many are posting and I wonder how many haven’t posted.

I had the same issue with my 2019 1500 Big Horn. Took it back to dealer day after purchasing and said it was definitely a deal breaker. Of course we were unable to recreate the sound when the service manager rode in the truck. I finally recorded the sound and sent it to the service Manager along several threads regarding this issue. Dealership picked up my vehicle from my home (41 miles away) took it to the shop and guaranteed me they would fix it. My truck was in the shop for 2 days, they replaced the amplifier tsb# 08-033-19, put in new brake kit and noise persisted. Informed me they were keeping my truck another day. Next day latest updates to the ANC, PCM AND TCM were completed. Dealership delivered my truck to me, It has been a week now and the sound is gone (such a relief) my truck also seems to ride much smoother, quieter and actually seems to get better gas mileage. If anything should change, I will update my post. Good Luck

I took my truck to my dealer for this same problem, dealer couldn't get it to make the drone noise so they refused to do the tsb, embarrassing to even have people ride with me, 5400 miles, I've email Ram and that haven't even responded

I have a 2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn 5.7 Liter Hemi (3k mileage) and I too am experiencing the same humming/vibrating noise as some of the other folks are experiencing in this thread. I notice the humming when I have more than 2 people in the car, I notice the noise in all driving instances (i.e. when I am accelerating, when I break, when I am coasting with out touching the gas or break). I agree with some of the other posts that it seems like the truck is not shifting properly or there is a problem with the transmission. Has anyone found a resolution to this problem?

Along with this humming noise, does anyone else have issues when backing out of your driveway when you first drive the car for the day, with your rear axle squeaking (it sounds like an old truck with some rust on it backing out)?

Anyhow this truck is a brand new truck the humming noise has been happening since I bought it, I was just recently on a trip and the noise was unbearable and concerned my friends in truck. Hopefully a solution exists. I am taking it to the dealership on Friday, I would like to provide some thought to them, if they have not experienced this issue with anyone else yet.
I also have experienced at times a humming noise with a vibration. The first time I noticed it I was driving down the freeway and the humming was a very low rumble to medium high pitch. I can only describe it as whales talking to each other... There was also a noticeable vibration and it didn't seem to mater what speed I was going. I thought it was coming from the stereo but when I turned it off it was still there. My frustration is that it comes and goes, so I know if I take it in to the dealer they won't find anything. I'm about to turn 10K on my Bighorn Lonestar with the 5.7 Hemi. I hope they can get it sorted before the warranty is up!

Just bought new 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn. There is now 3800 miles and I have the exact same issue! Put dealer service representative on the UConnect so he could hear the noise. He did hear it. Ran through some scenarios and he had no idea what it could be and said to bring it in. Ok.....today, no noise of course.

The loud noise and vibration is felt primarily on the driver side front. It also just started after hooking up my boat with Ebreak on. I thought it was related possibly to that.

Ran in Tow/Haul mode and without. Tried gear limit. Removed boat. Flipped Ebreak on and off multiple times...no luck.

I don’t think it’s a transmission issue as I only hear the noise in an isolated area behind the wheel. I also don’t think it’s pertaining to a particular speed but rather RPMs. Mine occurs between 1500-1800 RPMs. So, yes people who say the issue goes away over that, mine is the same.

So, who knows. Makes little sense to take it in until the noise/vibration returns ad no one seems to know what it is. I am very disappointed. Love the truck otherwise. Help!!!

Tried it, it does work a little bit but not very well. I covered them with a small square of 1/8" thick rubber. you either disconnect the mic wires at the ANC module or have them replace the ANC module.
