How big have you towed? w/Pics no tricks!

Lol daughter bought a pallet of close out tile. I knew it would be heavy and unfortunately had no access to a trailer. 2,208 pounds. Cab height loaded tight to cab on 6.4 bed with axle to frame bags at 30 psi and tires aired to 44 psi no issues. I'm sure it was over max drive axle at about an 8k GVW. Even strap down you wouldn't want to slalom or stop hard but with aware & cautious driving it did fine to get home.

Sticker says 1050, I normally pull a fishing boat and don’t ever load out a truckbed like this as all the gear rides in the boat and trailer ...but I figured it was close enough and what’s the worst that can happen right? Lol don’t answer that...

65 bags @ +\- 20lb bags is 1300lb

Does the payload sticker factor a full tank of gas?

had about 5 gallons of gas in it and 33 gal of gas weighs about 210. So net savings from gas would be 180...

so my non math degree math is 1300-180 = 1020?

Either way it was either right around the number or a tad over and it’s really 3.6 miles to the house per gps and I babied it home at 35mph making a few enemies on the way home. They think I’m #1.

def not something to do on the reg or again but def a good test for the truck I was pleased.

will be borrowing cousins landscape trailer next time haha

Not my camper but took the opportunity to take it down the street to the state park to dump the tanks. Maybe 10miles total. Seemed like a bit much for the truck to me. Seemed pretty level with the WDH. 5.7etorqure, 3.92, no bags (obviously). '27 boat (whole thing is about '31) and trailer weigh around 7k lbs. I'll know for sure when I go back over the Cat scale tomorrow without the boat.

Towed 270 miles and 98 degree heat across various terrain of WA and Idaho. I would say the Hemi did ok, there were definitely some areas where I wish I had some more power and had to go 55mph or so while it was screaming along at 4200-4800 rpms. It did it's job though.

It rode and tracked very well, not much of any sway, even in some cross winds.

Coolant temp remained about 210 the whole time, transmission temp never got above 204, oil temps reached 250 on long sustained grades.

Averaged 10.7mpg. Truck kinda looks like a toy.

Just got back from a trip to the Smokey Mountains ~700 mile each way trip towing my new 2020 Coachman 29' Travel Trailer. It was my 3rd trip towing it with my 2020 Bighorn 1500 5.7 etorque 3.21 (longest trip by far though).

Trailer is ~6400 empty ~7600 loaded (probably wasnt anywhere near fully loaded). Tongue weight is ~740 . Vin on truck is rated for ~8300, payload ~1550. Nothing of note in the truck except for passengers and dogs. Biggest thing I've ever towed.

7.9 miles to to the gallon on the way there (mostly uphill), 8.5 on the way back (mostly downhill)

I was very impressed with the truck's performance. No struggles on any of the hills, great response, and a very smooth ride (outside of 1 really bumpy area).

Even though it did a great job, this is pretty much maxing out my truck. Already starting some research on a bigger truck and trailer. I'll probably wait a year before that though.

I have the exact truck, and was looking at 29ft trailers this weekend. My question is: Is yours a 29ft box or 29ft total length bumper to tongue? The one the wife and I liked was a 29ft box and I was concerned it would be too long given a 34ft total length, the weigh was fine, however the length makes me nervous. Set up looks good btw!

One way trip for my son.

Did not do a cat scale and overloaded on advertised tongue weight, 1,325 lbs, per manufacturer.

Tape measure, Timber Grove Air Bags at 14 lbs and Snugged/Compressed the Andersen Red Spring until I measured 1/4" from unloaded.

Travel Trailer was level, tested brakes on lot, off I went.

Two fingers steering at 55 and four at 65.

Lots of traffic for mid day on the highway, drove between 55 and 63.

Luckily the winds were 5to 10 mph, ever once and awhile you could feel the gust.

Operating Temperature normal/same as towing my 5k, 22ft long TT. 10mpg per lie o-meter.

Certainly would not transport or tow a 38ft camper but you do things for your kids.

Grey Wolf 26dbh. 6100lb dry, 7500 gross, actual 6600lbs.

We bought it about two years ago and towed it for the last two years with my Gladiator. The Gladiator had a 7000lb tow capacity and 1290lb payload. I regeared it to 4:88s for a little more torque. My family drove separately and I was a weight weenie with what I would let the family put in the trailer.

It surprisingly towed quite well. It did scream heading up hills and the trans temps would get up to 220 climbing. I’m sure if I kept it up, I would have worn out some drivetrain parts. I loved the Gladiator and didn’t want to get rid of it. But, we kept needing an extra seat, with having two daughters that wanted to bring friends places. So the 1500, with an extra seat and more GVWR made sense.

Ok, so not the biggest or baddest tow but it gets me from home to the happy hunting grounds and back each fall. It also does the chores around the property.
