Help - Larger Tires sizes that fit on Stock Setups 285/60or65/R20's. without Rubbing?? Would love some advice and info

I came on to do research on the biggest tire for a stock ORP truck and I have so many numbers running around my head. I think im trying to over think this lol.

Went through this battle... here you go.

285/65R20 will fit stock air suspension but tight. I downgraded to 275/65R20 and they run nice. I do have the off road group but my riding partners all run 275/65R20 on air ride 19 1500.

So building almost the same truck and want to add bigger tires w/o new rims, lift, leveling kit, etc. Would the 275/65R20 you went with work on the factory 20" wheels w/o rubbing (in all AR suspension settings)? Would likely want a slightly less aggressive tread if you have a recommendation.

Webbd30.....thanks for sharing your experiences......very helpful but I will ask for a little more info.

I am switching from 22" wheels to factory 20" wheels on my 4x4 Limited (after bending 2 wheels in 10k miles). Looking at 275/65r20 Terra Grapplers (non LT tire) ....based on your experience do you think this will work with factory wheels.....not leveled(yet) . I would value your input.

That I do not know I know the +1 offset really helps run that large of a tire size.

good luck.

I am unsure, I know when I was looking for the best tire size, the +1 offset is what really allows that tire to fill up the wheel well.

the stock offset sticks out much much less and that may create issues.

good luck.

with a +1 offset you can fit largest 285/65R20

I went with the 275/65 because they were about $300 cheaper for a minimum difference.

thanks for your reply......I feel the same ….unsure. Hoping that sticking w/ 275 and not going wider would allow the 34" tire to fit. I may play it safe and go 275/60/20. At least there is a better selection of non-LT tires in that size.

Thank you can mud flaps be used with either setup?

Yes they will, I use to run them but moved away from them because they can damage the truck. As dirt and dust build up it can damage paint under the flap.

I don't even have my truck yet and watched the installation of the OEM splash guards. The first thing I said to myself was that's going to scratch the paint. I was recently looking at WeatherTech splash guards it looks like they would be better with that.

First post! I did 33x12.50 20 on a 0 offset wheel tire guy says the offset is the difference no lift or level

OK to extend this a little further I plan to run my stock wheels on my 19 Big Horn I currently have 2.5 leveling spacers but I intend to take them back out, don’t care for the angles on the CV shafts or the upper control arms. My question is this can I run a 295/60R20 or a 305/55R20 with flares, molded flaps, without rubbing without a leveling kit?

Hey guys this is my 1st truck ever, I feel like the tires are too small, I would like to get some advice on sizing
20–Inch x 9–Inch Cast Aluminum Black Wheels
275/55R20 OWL All Season Tires
Stock suspension/no air lift

Tiresize.com Enter your setup and you get a list of trucks with same/similar tire size and lifts.

Webbd30, thanks for the continuing information on this matter. Through this thread, with all of the replies, you,all have helped me immensely. I have been searching through to find the right tires for the OEM wheels. What I am finding is that the largest tire that will fin my 2019 Limited, air suspension, 4x4, off-road package is the 285/65R20 BUT you all seem to be recommending that I change out the wheels as well to go from the stock +19mm offset to one that has a +1mm offset to fit “just right”. I like the recommendations of the Nittro Ridge Grapplers as well. Everything I am reading is that this is an awesome all around tire.

Two weird questions, if you do not mind, as I am new to the truck scene. First, can you achieve the shift from +19mm offset to +1mm offset on the OEM wheels? Or do you need new wheels to change the offset? Second, and this one is “out of the box” a little, do you know what the largest diameter wheel that will fit in the spare tire well? Will the 285/65R20 set nicely in pace of the stock the 275/55R20 “hole” for the spare tire under the bed?

I really appreciate the advise and thoughts.

Just ordered Nitto Ridge Grapplers 285/60/r20s to put on my stock Longhorn wheels. Discount tire gave me $75.00 credit per tire for my OEM Bridgestones with 7,474 miles on them. I thought a $300.00 discount was a fair deal. Total out the door price was $1,228.50. Have an appointment Tuesday morning to get them mounted. I’ll post a few pics when they’re on the truck.

Go to customwheeloffset.com enter your truck, lift, wheel and tire size you want and it will return a database of other trucks with that set up and tell you if it rubs.

Just had the Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/60/r20s installed. Liking them so far. A slight rub against a piece of plastic wheel liner in the front, but only in reverse and when doing a full lock turn. Not a big deal. A few pics.
