Gas mileage

Picked up from Mark Dodge Tuesday. 1394 miles, 19.7 MPG hand calculated. Dash said 18.5. Most of the trip was 70-75 on freeways. 1 1/2 hours of stop and go once I hit the Michigan line, due to accidents, and detours. Very happy to be that high with an engine that isn't broken in yet.

If you use top tier fuel, it shouldn't matter what octane you use, as part of the qualifications to get the top tier rating is the additive packages
I generally go top tier, whenever possible, but I have seen stations that have signs that their premium has better additives.

I think that's more marketing than anything. I know Shell is one of those who claims better additives in premium.

We have that marketing BS here too designed to make people think premium is better - all top tiers have enough additives. I'm still amazed at the number of people who believe premium 91+ works better in their cars that are tuned to run on 87. They claim all sorts of subjective crap like starts easier, runs smoother, better mileage, cleans better. Same goes for the additives at stores like upper cyl cleaner, valve cleaner, engine cleaner, fuel system cleaner, etc. Most of them are nothing more than an alcohol-based cleaner and they don't do anything except lighten your wallet.

I'm at a little over 3000 on my '23, getting a hand calculated 19.7mpg after a couple of freeway road trips and hunting trips in the last month. Happy with that, and it will likely improve over time, if my previous truck and anecdotes read here are any indication.

I was disappointed when I found out you can't get a 8' bed with a 1500, but the 6'4" is big enough, and the 5'7" bed is to small.

Especially Shell, they use the v-power nitro+,
Marketing BS - they don't use anything special - it's just a marketing name to sound more "awesome" than the other guys. And putting 93 premium in for an engine that runs fine on 87 or 89 is a waste of money as it doesn't work any better. Even if you were to take your truck to the drag strip, Shell's top fuel probably wouldn't make any difference to your 1/4 mile times over 89. If it did, it wasn't due to their "magical formula" - it would be from the no-ethanol mix.
I add Lucas fil, seafoam, or MMO at every fill up.
Total waste of money - they don't do anything more than top tier fuel does already for normal fuel systems under average driving conditions. If you have a problem, they might help. But if your truck is running properly, save your money.

That's very subjective. You don't like it, but others like myself do. I can't imagine having an extra 2+ feet hanging out the back - note I don't use my truck for work. My 5'7" bed is fine for my needs. I wanted the truck and V8 for towing, not hauling.
I would love an extra 2 feet, but Ram doesn't put Ramboxes on the 6'4 because they suck.
I wouldn't of gotten a "full size pickup" if I was concerned about length.
The additional length of the 6"4 bed also helps wtih towing.

Technically, 91-93 octane on an 89 tune will have less power because of the delay to ignition advance. What these non car people feel as smoother running is actually the less "rowdy", less than fully capable, power reduction.

I agree. 5-7 hauls everything I need to haul.; With gate down, it hauls 8 ft. If I need to haul anything longer, I have a trailer. Longer beds make it impossible to park.

Yep. Folks who don't need more than the small bed like them just fine. I "downgraded" to a Bighorn with the 6'4" bed and it's been WAY better for me in day to day use. It can fit a water trough without having to tie it down, it fits all my desert off road trip gear without tiedowns, my feet hang off the end of the tailgate when I sleep in the back still, but at least it goes to below my knees instead of above, and sheets of wood fit in it. I'd have preferred the 8 foot also, but not enough to buy the 25-3500.

Ya, a lot of owners like them, its just my opinion.

I've owned only 8' beds till my 2020 1500. from shortest to longest. 94 reg cab 2500 360, 2004.5 QC 2500 CTD, 07 3500 QC C&C CTD, (C&C's are a little longer) then my last HD truck, 2019 CC 3500 SRW HO, they just keep getting longer. Its nicer when parking in tight quarters, but being used to longer trucks over the years I'd have no issue with a 1500 8' bed.

How do you get a 2' difference between 5'7" and 6'4"?

There isn't.
The person I quoted said they didn't want an extra 2' behind them, and 6'4 is the biggest 1500 bed, but didn't have Ramboxes so i took the 5'7".
I would of taken an 8' bed on a 1500 in a heartbeat, I like driving boats.

I do the additives to help it stay clean and free of carbon build up and lubricate the fuel system, makes me Have peace of mind whether it works or not lol. I’m not worried about cost, juts don’t want my hemi ticking. I Also change oil every 5k with amsoil signature series and right around 500 miles before oil change I add seafoam to crankcase to clean sludge if there’s any sludge or any type of build up, so far at my limited is at 90k and running strong and healthy.

I'm not sure I understand. In one post you say they don't put Ramboxes on the 6'4" and in another you say they do.
Yeah that was a big o fat typo.

Ram puts Ramboxes on the 6'4" bed, but only on 2500s.
In 1500s it's only on the 5'7"
And the 8' bed on the 2500 also doesn't get Ramboxes.

2 differnet things getting mixed together
* I would of gotten an 6'4" bed in an 1500 with Ramboxes if it was offered.
* I also would of taken an 8' bed if it was offered on a 1500 with Ramboxes, ie the 2 extra feet.

Unrelated
I also would of gotten an 2500 with an 6.4 hemi if they offered the HUD on any trim or option as I could of gotten Ramboxes on the 6'4" bed.
