I am incredibly sorry to hear that this happened, @Tom@seal beach. This is not at all what we expect for our customers.

If you are addressing this with your Ram dealership, please be sure to follow up with us via private message. I would like to ensure that this is documented, as well as escalate your daughter's situation to a Case Manager which will provide the dealership and yourself with an individual who will review your concern, then assist you and the dealership in exhausting all available resources to have the concern addressed and resolved.

Thank you for reaching out Mark. Hopefully this will turn out OK. My daughter is very spooked about the vehicle and it's qualify control during manufacturing and asking what else could happen? This is her primary vehicle and she has a 3 year old so she's a normal Mom that wants to make sure she doesn't have any issues with her daughter in the truck. I will follow up with you as she moves forward. The vehicle will be inspected by the Dealership today or tomorrow. Thanks again!

HAHA! That is true, but I'd have a hard time getting my daughter to cry, she's a tough cookie. Yesterday the dealership said they may give her a new vehicle. That is my hope. But the dealership needs to inspect the truck. Keeping my finger crossed for her.
Oh ya, saw a post that said you were interested in the ecodiesel, Currently have 16k on mine and its still running good, the low end torque is very nice for towing and 22-29mpg + 33 gallon tank is very nice on long drives.

Oh, I noticed you said you reused those. I am pretty sure those are one time use. I know you put on the loctite but you are breaking the rules!!!!!

I'm going to assume he didn't remove the nut and just added wicking loctite (the point of wicking loctite is to secure things that have already been torqued).

I did break the original torque set at the factory when I did a lift/level top hat spacer and reinstalled the original nut. IF this nut is a TTY/prevailing nut, they are supposed to be a one time use and throw it away and get new. I've never seen one that had nylon lock insert on it though. They are usually all-metal type lock nut. I did add wicking (by capillary action) medium strength Loctite 290 to it anyway.
From Loctite...Because of its low viscosity and capillary action, the product wicks between engaged threads and eliminates the need for disassembly prior to application. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage due to shock and vibration

Yes...that is my goal truck. Gload you enjoy the Ecodiesel. I'm hoping to get the Ecodiesel & Rambox (design brilliance!). I really was impressed with my daughters truck! So many nice touches. She got the Hemi with the Hybrid system and says the acceleration from stop lights is surprising. I kept saying get the EcoDiesel but there were none in stock. Unfortunately I had an accident two years ago and needed a truck so got an F150, nice truck, but the Ram with small diesel had been my goal for the last four to five years, but there were issues with the Gen 1 Eco Diesel emissions...so I held off hoping they'd get it fixed, but with the government involved with the whole emissions scandals and it seemed to drag on. Then my accident. I leased knowing that I could pass some time then get what I really wanted. Looks like the new engine is pretty good.

Ya only time is gunna tell with the new 3rd gen ecodiesel. And I have the ram boxes on mine too lol. They honestly awesome. Don’t think I’ll get another truck without them. I fill them u and keep my cab and bed clean. The ecodiesel does have a noticeable lag off the lines. Like 1 - 1.5 second lag. It’s not nearly as quick as a hemi. But I think the trade offs are worth it.

I'm a little surprised RAM hasn't added the hybrid system to the EcoDiesel. My daughter and son-in-law say the system on the Hemi is phenomenal. Maybe they will add it. I don't care about the acceleration that much. if I did I'd get a 2500 with the Cummins or the Hemi/Hybrid. I knew the small diesel would be a homerun when I heard about it. My gut says the 3rd gen EcoDiesel will be a much better engine. The Chevy Silverado inline 6 is interesting. But it's a first gen engine and you can't get the RamBox or the new Barn Door tailgate.

Hi Mark,
THIS HAS TURNED INTO A JOKE AND NIGHTMARE! The wheel came off Tuesday night in Cypress CA, my daughter called RAM ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, they came immediately, but for some reason they took the truck to Los Angeles, then locked it up and were supposed to deliver it to the dealership on Wednesday morning, didn't happen, then it became Thursday, then Friday. Then my daughter threw a fit with the tow company and they said Oh so sorry we'll get it delivered to the dealer on Saturday morning! Well now it's Sunday STILL NO TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP, so she called the tow company AGAIN and she was told the tow company won't deliver the truck unless she pays an additional fee, SHE SAID NO WAY SHE'S PAYING A TOWING FEE, because they took it to Los Angeles about 35 miles away. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR A TRUCK WITH LESS THAN 1,000 MILES ON IT TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER THAT IS ONLY 6 MILES AWAY IN HUNTINGTON BEACH. WHY THE HELL DID TOW COMPANY TAKE IT 35 MILES AWAY TO A STORAGE YARD!!! SO NOW SHE'S IN A PISSING MATCH WITH THE TOW COMPANY BECAUSE THEY SAY THE TRUCK CAN'T BE DELIVERED TO THE DEALER UNLESS SHE PAYS AN ADDITIONAL FEE???????????????????????????? IF THIS IS HOW RAM IS GOING TO TREAT HER ON JUST THE TOWING PORTION, WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO TO HER ON THE REST OF THE CLAIM???

Wow, towed into LA from Cypress and they want you to pay for the side track, nice Ram.

Ram should pay for the week its taking to get to the dealer which may not be able to fix a complicated suspension issue anyway (yes, sarcasm).

Pay the fee to get the truck fixed and follow message # 41's advice.

Well... I've been on this forum for two years and this is the first I've heard of this happening. Scary, yes, but I think it's safe to say this is a one-off thankfully.

Or maybe the others died in a giant fireball after going off the road at 80 mph after the wheel fell off? Police report: “driver error.”

Did Ram corporate direct the towing company to take the truck there? If not your beef is with the towing company (many are shady AF) and not Ram.

The truck finally showed up at the dealership late yesterday after 5 days!!!....now we'll see what the dealership does.

Thank you for taking the time to keep us informed of your situation, @Tom@seal beach. I sincerely apologize for the frustration that you and your daughter have had to endure. As you are actively working with the dealer at this time, I would be more than happy to get this entire experience formally documented and a case escalated on to a specialist for further support as you work with your dealer. Our team is just a private message away to get this process started, hope to hear from you soon!

They don't have their own towing company do they? They just contract with some local towing company.
Yes...most probably...and even more probably they wanted to be paid immediately instead of having to file a voucher with Ram and wait to get compensated for the tow bill. If they in fact did this and were holding it like it was for ransom trying to get paid up front then they are real scumbags. I'd still document it and rat them out to Ram/Chrysler (hopefully the OP has records/texts) so maybe they would be removed off their authorized tow list.
