Front Air Dam Removal

These are pictures of what the shop broke, but sure exactly where it goes, maybe sandwiched in-between of stuff.

It's clearly not single use and they just either have no idea wtf they are doing or broke it on purpose to save T&M time. Broke 5 plastic heavy duty clips, I broke one off myself just now to see how strong they are, and they didn't break getting removed he cut them himself they are really strong.

They also tried to charge me $343 for pre and post scans of my ECM to clear codes that they might of generated, and actually took my truck for a 9 mile drive (even though it was just a bumper paint job). They tried to tell me they needed to calibrate\test my blind spot monitoring (which is in my side view mirrors LOL). I even told him it's just fog lights and parking sensors which don't require the truck being moved even if they wanted to test something which they shouldn't of been.

I wonder how many people get scammed a year who don't know every single thing there is to know about the high tech cars\trucks it's insane.

The guy was arguing with me until he was red in the face saying "well you aren't getting your truck back unless you pay the electoral diag fees" while I had a fat stack of cash in my hand for him. I even pointed out the document they have that approves or denies some random diag fee for I guess people who get into accidents to approve or deny which I was never asked to sign.
I put the cash on the counter and said he can take me to small claims court if he wishes.

I hope that is the final time I need to have work done on my truck from someone besides me.

I don't know what that piece even is. I never removed a part that looked like that when I removed air dams (active and stationary) on three different 5th gens. Those trucks were a 2020 Laramie, a 2020 Limited, and a 2021 Limited. I wonder if they changed the stationary air dam on 2022+ models?

I have both air dams on my 22.
Stationary and active.
They claimed the active was not needed to be touched.
They removed the bumper (to paint) so maybe it's attached to that in a slightly differnet spot?

I think it's actually above the bumper, so the person who called me didn't even say the correct part... LOL

Edit: it's 100% on top of the bumper, you can see the clips if you go under the truck all lined up facing out.
I was told it was a "lower valance" and that's incorrect.
 
Well, my truck doesn't even have an active airdamn. I read this thread and didn't even know these trucks have active airdamns. Just checked my truck and nothing, only the stationary. But I do think my truck is a bit of a unicorn. Its a 19' limited and it does not have auto folding mirrors or auto shutoff (not complaining about that one!). I bought the truck Dec. of 2018 and the manager was driving it at the time, only had about 1,800-2k miles on it.

Unless it's etorque it wouldn't have auto start/stop
 
Didn't go all the way with the Air Dam removal, but did take 10 minutes with a Dremel.... Took about an 1.5 inches off
Thats what I would like to do, gives more clearance but has a more finished look to it.

I seem to remember that some 2019 trucks with air suspension didn't have the active air dam. There are older threads where that was agrued/discussed to death.

Correct.
I want to say 2020-2021 was when it changed from what I saw.
I think I saw someone say it doesn't come on in Aero mode and only Normal suspension.

I just did mine yesterday to install a bull bar. Love the look, just making sure there's no functional loss by leaving it off. I'd have to cut slats into the air dam to reinstall. Not really wanting to fuss with it.

I have a 2020 and I’ve had mine off for a few years now to install a plow frame and I haven’t had any issues.

Was at least as early as 2020 since our 2020 Limited (obviously with air suspension) had the AAD. As did the 2021 Limited I used to own.
 
This will be my first post on the forum... Buenas tardes from the Republic of Panama!
Anyway, I just bought a 2023 Bighorn here in-country. I couldn't stand the look of the front air dam, so I removed it and the AAD today. Someone previously posted the fasteners for the front air dam were mostly push pins with only a couple of 10 mm screws. Well, my truck had 18 screws and 7 push pins on the front air dam. I also removed the four screws that attached the AAD to the two motors, but left the motors in-place. I think it looks much better. My next mod will either be a 3 1/2" leveling kit, or a 2" or 4" lift kit. Then I am going to replace the ridiculous road tires that are installed. We don't have a huge selection of tires here, but I've narrowed my choices to either a Toyo Open Country RT Trail or a Falken Wildpeak AT3.
