Wish I had seen it too. I got the kickers and drowned out the other speakers. I wired in 4 ohm resistors with good results, but like the idea of the FaitalPros better. I keep wondering if the generic wire wound resistors I used degrade sound quality, fortunately my hack job was only on the metra harnessWish I would have saw / waited to get my dash speakers. This thread answered my questions. I got the Kicker 3.5's and they sound good, but the difference in Ohm resistance has made the door speakers a little less potent. I have the base 6 speaker setup as well. I ordered the FaitalPro 3FE22 / 8 Ohm. Can't wait to hear the difference!!
Just a quick update. Swapped out the Infinity dash speakers for the FiatalPro w/ 300hz bass blocker. I'm much happier with the sound. It's not a 'holy crap' difference, but it is better balanced overall. This is why I love forums. I would have never tried these speakers otherwise. I also didn't realize the dash speakers for the base 6-speaker system were 8 ohm until I saw it in this thread. Must have missed it in the countless other threads (and I wrongly assumed it was 2 ohm all around like my Charger was).Damn you guys. I was perfectly happy with my Infinity 3.5s but now I ordered the FiatalPro 8ohm just to hear the difference
I don't really know if they were needed, but I figured better safe than sorry with the bass blockers. Plus they were only a couple bucks.I'm surprised you need the bass blockers. I know in the HK and Alpine systems they are already crossed over at 300Hz, but it may be different in the base system.
You may not notice as much of a difference in volume going from a 4 ohm to an 8 ohm speaker.
Many have left them alone and been happy. The dash speakers are an easy plug-and-play install for a quick improvement. So what do you do with the door speakers if your staying with the 6 speakers, no amp or subs.
