Driver's seat is brutal!

For whatever reason I cannot get this seat positioned so it doesn't absolutely kill me on a drive longer than 5 minutes. It's very uncomfortable which causes me to constantly adjust my body position. The first issue is how stiff the side supports on the seat BOTTOM are. It affects me on my left side, and it almost feels like there's a baseball in that portion of the support. Eventually my left leg in the hamstring area will start to bother me and it'll get progressively worse, trickle into my lower back and it's completely downhill from there. I put about an hour of seat time in yesterday and by the time I got back home I was physically exhausted from the discomfort and pain. As soon I get out of that seat, there's a huge relief!

It's in the back of my mind that perhaps I have something going on with my back, nerve, something. But the only time any of this is experienced is when I am driving this truck. I'm not sure there is a seat position combination that I haven't tried aside from being so far up and back that I cannot reach the pedals. Perhaps quality control and or the manufacturing process of a batch of these seats was lacking? I'm not exactly a large human, being 5'10" on a good day, and weighing in at 230#. I couldn't imagine being 6'3" 275+ with how narrow the seat bottoms are when factoring in the side supports.

I really want to like this truck, but it's literally painful to drive. Has anyone seen or dealt with a similar issue? There are just north of 5500 miles on the truck at this point, and I was hoping the seat just needed some break in time, but if anything it has gotten worse. Equivalent to sitting on your wallet (which I carry in my right pocket, and never sit on it). I need to stop in at the dealership and express my concern. Unsure how quickly they will tell me to kick rocks but I'm certainly discouraged with this being my first new vehicle, paying nearly 60k a ind its the worse driving experience I've ever had, and that includes some real POS vehicles, lol. Hell, squeezing into my in-laws 2003 Miata is more pleasurable than the seat of this truck!

Truck in question is a 2022 Rebel Crew cab with the cloth/vinyl seats

I'm 6'3" and 227 lbs. I don't have any problem. The seat is actually comfortable. Bighorn crew

Sounds like you are having back issues. I am currently having issues with my sciatic nerve and it is painful to sit ANYWHERE for more than 3 minutes. Prior to my nerve issue I loved the ride and comfort the truck offers

Go drive a Chevy Colorado and report back which is more uncomfortable.

Bring the truck to an upholstery shop they can fix the seat in a few hours time. Would hate to see you dump the truck for a seat issue. These issues can be fixed fairy easy. They can use the same seat cover and all, still leaving you with the factory look.

I got a coxsic cushion on Amazon for about $40. I was setting out on a cross country trip in my ‘19 Laramie and thought I might need it. But the ride in that truck was the most comfortable seats I’ve ever been in. Including bmws and Volvos. The cushion was therefore unnecessary but I tried it out and could see it perhaps as a solution to some of the problems listed here. My new to me ‘21 limited is just as comfortable but the leather is different and less stretchy and forgiving. Also the Laramie seats have strips of suede along each butt cheek whereas the limited has the same leather as the seats. That suede gripped a bit better in corners than the limited which feels a bit slippery by comparison. Wish list would include massaging seats which are amazing once you’ve tried em.

Limited Elite has the strips. Massaging seats are planned for 25.

I just traded a 2017 Laramie for a 2023 Limited and the only thing I've found so far that I liked better about the 2017 is the seats. The leather in the limited seems to be higher quality but the seats are not nearly as comfortable as they were in the 2017. It feels like the newer seats are narrower and the center console is wider.

Whatever it is, it was killing my lower back, and no vehicle I've owned has done that like this truck. Luckily those "worth their weight in gold" Desert Does It spacers came along, no issues now.

We thought we'd love the massage seats in my wife's car but have only used them a couple times to check it out. Never touched it again.

My 22 ram rebel has a power drivers seat that collapsed at 2200 mile, 2nd time at 4600 miles and third time at 6500 miles. Dealer has been awesome, but seats are not. The passenger seat went south at 7k miles. I only wt. 185lbs. love the truck but the seats SUCK!

What do you mean it collapsed? 3 times?

I had the same issue, though my pain started at about 30 minutes. It was painful enough that for a moment, I even thought about trading the Rebel in. Luckily I found a fix for me, which was to adjust the seat until I found the right combo of adjustments.

We have the same seats, my pain was in my lower back. The fix was to adjust the seat back forward slightly more than normal and to tilt the seat bottom higher on the front. Kinda like a "C" shape, while adjusting the lower lumber to the highest setting.

Now no back paint even after several hours of driving. What's interesting, this seating configuration is actually similar to my other vehicles, which are low slung sports cars with similar "C" shaped seating, forward seatback and forward seat bottom tilt, which I don't typically feel any pain either, figures it would work on my truck.

I just bought a 2020 bighorn with bucket seats and having the same issue you were having. I'm trying to find the best position. Have you found that the "C" shaped seat curve has completely fixed your issue? I'm 6'4'' 300lbs. Came from a honda ridgeline. I really want to love this Ram, but the seat is driving me nuts.

My true fix has been the Seat Jackers upgrade from Desert Does It. There is a whole thread talking about it on this forum, but while rather pricey at $90 for a pair of aluminum blocks, it has changed my comfort level greatly. I can go the whole day now without pain, or maybe just the slightest twich, I would say 97% pain free with this mod. Honestly worth it's weight in gold for me, even at today's prices

Give this a try, seems to fix it for most people who have lower back issues on these RAMs and other vehicles as well.

Just bought a pair. I really appreciate the feeback. I'm hoping it helps me. The seats feels fine when im sitting in it and then after a little while i notice an uncomfortable feeling in my back, but the seat is still comfortable. its really odd. I've owned numerous different vehicles and never had an issue.

What's also strange is that my dad has almost the same vehicle with the bench seat instead and im perfectly fine, but i heard that the seats are exactly the same and the only difference is the middle seat/console. So i have no clue, oh well i guess.

Don't go out of your way to take a picture, but if you have a side picture with the seat trim installed and the seat jackers installed could you post it?

The only other question i have is...The seat jackers didnt make the steering wheel too close to your legs did it?
