I am looking to purchase a Ram later this year, hopefully when the rambox becomes more widely available. I have seen a lot on MPG but as I work offshore it's big concern of mine. I care more about distance between needing a fuel up. With that said, I am trying to find out how far people are going based on different configurations. Mine will be a 4x4 but for general purposes, you can post up any configuration.

Drivetrain: 4x2 / 4x4
Gear ratio: 3.21 / 3.55 / 3.92
Tank size: 23gal / 26gal / 33gal
Engine: V6 / V8 / V8etorque / diesel
Full tank distance to empty

4x4 - 5.7
3.92 rear
33gal
480 miles to empty

And it's been deadly accurate.

Edit: I have a heavy foot and have been working in the new Hemi. The elder statesmen of the forum might be getting better mpg with less aggressive driving.

Distance per tank since new has ranged from 440-510
The MPG estimate in the dash I've noticed has been 0.2-0.5mpg off. Think it depends on idle time for the discrepancy

These are some good numbers. Itll easily get me from Cali to Vegas and back. Not quite enough for Cali to Utah but I'm still excited/impressed. The 3.92, v8 and 33gal seems like a good combo but does anyone have 3.21, v8 and 33gal?

Thanks to everyone who has given their input and helped me out.

I saw this up on reddit. 33 gal tank, easy on the pedal (believe 5.7 v8).

So freaking jealous. Now if only they made a Laramie Sport v6 with rambox. I'd be in heaven. My car I'm L U C K Y to get 400 miles (640KM)...

Just filled up yesterday and after the 33 gallon tank took 29.931 gallons, the cluster was reporting that I had 706 miles to empty.

Best regards,

Oh em gee, these are some good numbers. I literally cannot wait for the v6's to start pouring in. Would love to see some gains in the numbers. As I dont tow/haul anything. Just want the space, comfort and luxury that Ram has been dominating in.

Edit, It was @Dusty1948 numbers that didn't jive...

The numbers don't add up. 706 miles is 1136 klm's... my best range has been 786klm to empty, or 488 miles. That's right around the 15mpg area everyone is in. I guess almost 21.6mpg isn't impossible, but doesn't jive with the average Ram.

Wow @Dusty1948 agreed your mpg numbers are outstanding. Do you have a laid back driving style, in other words do you drive with an intent to get good mileage? 2WD, Quad vs Crew weights, and 3.21 no doubt helps a bit.

Really depends on driving conditions, this is my 4th gen with 3.92s, a level and oversized heavy load range e tires after highway driving. That was right after I filled up and before I reset the trip. My truck has the 32 gallon tank which doesn't read correctly in the 4th gens.

4x4
3.21
Hemi, non e-torque
26 gallon tank
30 mile commute (interstate 75mph for 20 miles, dirt road and city for 10 miles)
468 miles show at first fill-up

My 2012 got better after the first 2000 miles, so I'll keep everyone posted. I drive conservatively for the most part, and don't use the truck daily.
