Choosing Best Tonneau Cover

The amount of water that gets in is so little it's not worth messing with.
We get some very heavy rains down here in FL and my Retrax Pro MX keeps the bed 99.5% dry and I have done no additional sealing of any tailgate openings. There is a very robust tailgate seal that comes attached to the Retrax sliding cover as it slides and hits up against the tailgate that I believe is helping dramatically.

I live in Boca Raton and we get plenty of rain. The Lomax seals just fine to the tailgate. But the tailgate just plain sucks.

I am buying the extang trifecta signature series. I had one before its canvas instead of vinyl. Very durable and looks great. These type covers are easy to remove if you need the full bed length. Just fold an put it in the bed lengthwise. Hard coves are nice but if you are on the road and need the full bed, you cant remove it.. I have a crew with the 6'4 bed.
Did you get it? How do you like it? Pics please.....

I've been REALLY happy with the American Roll Cover by Truck Covers USA. Not the cheapest, but for a retractable cover it "checks" all the boxes I wanted. Releases with a key from the top, OR quick release from the under side. Uses the least amount of space of any retractable inside the bed, too. Does a great job with keeping water out as well. The only place I get water after a car wash is through the tailgate, which has less to do with the cover and more to do with the tailgate.

Super impressed overall!!
What are those boxes you've got in there?

I installed my Lomax yesterday. Best hard folding tonneau ever IMO! I had spoken with the actual designer at Agri -Cover, which convinced me to buy. Super simple so that it is elegant in design! The matte textured black matches the bed rail caps so that the low profile cover just blends in. The way the seals wedge gives excellent sealing all the way around.

This morning I dropped my truck for PPF and ceramic coating so I will post pictures of the cover in a couple days, but the important point is that they took a soap cannon and 1200psi rinse gun to the truck as step one in prep. I popped the gate after they finished and the only sign of water was at the front corner of the bed, driver's side, which is where my spray in bedliner has the tonneau seal a little uneven. I have not had this kind of performance out of a tonneau since the 1-piece ARE lids I've had. Blows the doors off the BAK's I've had for look and performance! I won't miss the vertical fold against the window either. The Lomax is RIDICULOUSLY simple to pop off and pop back on and very lightweight. It sits perfectly on the crew cab rear floor if full removal is needed away from home.

Anyone looking at a hard folder, give the Lomax a look over! Luke delivers at excellent pricing and superior customer service too!

My only gripe is related to the packaging. It's better than most, but needs to be improved. My rails had powdercoat scratched off them because the rail attaching clamps came out of their non-sealing, plastic envelope and roamed all over the box! The rails were only wrapped together and not for protection. Had they been stretch wrapped 100%, there would have been no scratched finish. Had a ziploc been used, there would have been no scratched finish. The folded cover also needs to be in a padded sleeve. These are cheap things from U-line, and this customer would pay the extra $5 for! I am living with the scratches on the rails since they are aluminum and also because you don't see them unless the cover is folded open. In the nice weather, I'll touch them up to make them less noticeable.

How in the world is yours not leaking at the tailgate corners? I cannot get mine to keep water out at all.

So I got the Lomax on, took me about 40 min to get it on correctly. Looks nice, very sturdy, and secure as well. Not so sure about the coat hangar thing to break in, but I suppose if someone really wanted to break in they could, crowbar would work too. But it will certainly keep the honest people honest. Very happy with my choice. And I've taken it thru a power style car wash and completely dry up by the cab and only a few small drops of water by the tailgate. Thanks much Luke @ Truck Alterations.

How is your dry??!! I just can’t fathom how people’s are all dry and mine is not. I adjusted the rails and everything. Lots of water coming in at the tailgate while parked in the rain.

Mine has sat in 3 straight days of non stop rain this week and no leaks. All different inclines between my driveway and work. No leaks. I installed it one time and didn’t have to readjust. Something must be wetland with yours.

Wetland?

I just don’t know how to fix these glaring areas. Pics taken from inside with the tailgate closed.

I ordered the Undercover Armorflex. Should be here on Wednesday. Ill post pics/review when its installed. I did a lot of research before buying this. Bakflip MX4 can scratch easy. The Armorflex has bed liner sprayed on it. Should hold up well.
Autoanything.com has a Military discount so I saved some money by ordering it thru them. :p

Got my Undercover Armor flex installed. Took about 45 mins. Not too difficult. Have not driven it yet to make sure it stays on. I like it so far.

Installed the Truxedo LoPro last week. Basically rained everyday since and I went to the touchless car wash today. Bed is pretty dry. Overall really happy with it.

I adjusted my rails down and moved the clamps to have it installed tighter, then added some weather stripping to the tailgate gaps. First rain since and this is my crappy result. Coming from the cab side corner.
