Bad fuel mileage 5.7 hemi

Thought I'd post an update for those curious. Up until recently, I was getting ~13 cty /18 hwy, no matter what I did. Flat ground, 55mph, summer gas, and I couldn't crack 20 mpg unless I was going downhill. Then suddenly at around 15k miles, I've been consistently (and easily) been getting 20+ mpg at 65% hwy, 35% cty. I even had a tank over 22mpg. No particular brand of gas or driving style. Maybe the engine just broke in?

Either way, its been real nice adding 100 miles to my range.

Get rid of the 3:92s.There's your mileage.I have 3:21s and am pushing 20mpg.The higher the rear axle ratio, the worse the mpg will be,but great takeoff out of the hole.

Only on the highway... In the city the 3.92's might help alittle.

Figured I would chime in, got 6k miles on my 2020, Laramie CCLB 5.7 non e torque 3.21. Only change I have made is put on E range tires stock size and splash guards. Average is 13.9 mpg to date, way worse than I expected. I drive very conservatively and watch the instant readout, shows about 15-16mpg at 75 and 18 at 65. Any bit of wind makes a huge difference, with a tailwind the instant lie o meter has said 26mpg at 65 a few times. A stiff headwind will sometimes pull it down into 7th gear. Towing my enclosed cargo trailer gets 6-8 mpg depending on speed. Pretty disappointed with this and towing stability, other than that its a nice truck would love it if those two things were better.
To improve your towing stability you might want to look into the Helwig Sway Bar.

I added 1mpg improvement when I switched to a Green Filter. Not a fluke, it was repeated over multiple 2.25 hour trips on same route in addition to my normal city commuting. And I track on Fuelly, so I know what I have got since day 1. I'm at about 16K miles now.

This is very interesting!

Been awhile since I drove the truck. Actually it hasn’t even moved for a month. It had 3/4 tank and we did a 2.5 hour 95% highway trip.

This image was taken almost all the way back home. Truck has 3.21’s, with just my wife and I, about 94 degrees outside. Fuel was 87 octane, the roads were pretty level, speed averaged about 68 mph overall including a 5 mile road construction section at 10-20 mph.

As you can see, barely 9,000 miles on the clock and the DTE was in the mid three’s, when full its about 500. 21.8 is acceptable to me on a 4x CC limited.

I think 21.8 is fantastic!

I have around 7000 miles on my truck and get 19-21 mpg doing 75mph. In the city I get 11-13 mpg.

I have a green filter as well and pulled my carbon filter, my mileage ranges but I hit 19-20 pretty consistently but I also drive conservatively. 65-70, with a 60/40 HWY/CITY took awhile to get there at 15k

You guys care to share which one you used? Or just go on Amazon and search?

I was too scared to pull the carbon filter off, lol. I averaged 19.5 with cruise at 72 after green filter, and was at 18.5 before.

Best I’ve done but it was straight highway and driving like a grandpa. 3.21, 4x4, 22” wheels, only shell 93 octane gas, ultra platinum pennzoil oil.
