Auto Start/Stop error

I'm told it was a bad hood switch. Just got the truck back. We will see.

@Walter2050 what has been replaced so far on your truck in regards to this situation? 6 times in and still not right. Argh!

May as well keep the thread going with info for others searching it out later to help them cut to the chase with the fixes as well.

They replaced pcm twice ,wiring harnesses and adjusted the hood . Still no luck

I have a 2020 big horn with 300 miles on it. I got the truck last week and it started throwing the Auto stop/start code last night. A little ridiculous on a brand new truck if you ask me. Well see what the dealer says

Just got my truck back last week after it had this issue, dealer said they replaced the pig tail on one of the sensors and it fixed the issue.

Hi All, this seems to be an issue more than just a few people seem to be having with an etorque engine so I thought I’d add my situation to this thread and keep it alive......

2019 Limited with etorque, just recently passed 23,000 miles. I went to run errands today and truck had a vibration soon after starting, then start/stop error code appeared, shortly after solid engine light and chime occurred, vibration continued through this series of events....Being Labor Day the dealership service department was closed. As others have previously mentioned (on other threads as well) this is aggravating given the price of the truck. I’m seeing common issues coming down to wiring and/or fuel injector. I’ll provide an update soon as I can to help others that will experience this. Any experience others would like to share in the meantime is appreciated.

2020 Big Horn Lonestar with 200 miles. Same issues. Replaced MGU and same problems. I got to drive the truck for 2 whole days! Purchased Aug 9 in shop Aug 11 still waiting.

Wow...sounds like they're just guessing and replaced a perfectly good MGU!

It is possible to get a faulty replacement. Not sure how to test these so cant say for sure. I did give a few suggestions to the service writer based on this forum and he seemed grateful for any help.
Spoke with Ram Corp. this morning and another MGU and parts will be delivered next week and some rack time for my truck is scheduled so fingers crossed this time it works. Will post next week with what happens. BTW RAM Corp. escalated to a repurchase analyst who stated if this didnt work they would start that process so stay tuned.

Sorry for the delayed update, finally have news to share. As suspected it was a bad fuel injector. The dealer was able to order a new one, took a day to arrive and had my truck back the day after. Everything covered under warranty.

Total timeline
1 week wait for the next available appointment (every other dealer was 3+)
1 day to diagnose and order part
1 day install and picked truck up end of the day

update:
truck has been at dealership for 38 days now. ordered second MGU which arrived 4 days ago. They opened it this morning and it is damaged and unuseable. Ram Cares offered my two deals. $5000 and keep after a third repair attempt (2 more weeks wait) or start the buyback (2 months to complete). So lets try a third time. Will update when i finally get resolution one way or another.

Hey guys, I just joined to reply to the thread. I have a 2019 Ram Bighorn with 35k that I bought 45 days ago. I had the same issue last week. I took it to my local shop that I trust. He ran through it and found cylinder 7 was misfiring. It was a bad fuel injector. My truck also had a lot of particulate build up in the fuel system. I had the fuel system flushed, now she's running great. Good luck with your vehicles.

Follow up - The third MGU arrived at dealership yesterday. Guess what, it was damaged too. So still at dealership and Ram said i can start buyback anytime.

I agree. The Ram Cares guys asked the same question. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy that something that can break in shipping is what powers this truck. Imagine the torque and abuse it gets installed.

No kidding...it's like the service techs pick up the item in their hands....get a running start just to slam the part in place, after that it's lunch break.

Just had the auto stop/start error this morning. Turned the truck off and then back on and it went away. 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn Night Edition 3982 miles

I’m experiencing the same issue. Went on vacation for one week....my truck sat for one week, came home and the start/stop warning appears, service engine light/constant chiming, and my truck started vibrating driving and idle. Turned off and back on...no change.
