Just bout a 2019 ram Laramie 1500 and a little disappointed in the auto air. My 2016 ram worked alot better. This air in this truck just doesnt seem to get very cold and the blower seems to run more which is a little annoying. I see some threads on the a/c in here but wondering if there was anything to resolve it?

I've had mine set on 74° pretty much untouched since I got the truck last August. The passenger side has been sitting at 73°. In the winter when the temperatures were in the 50's I bumped my side to 75° a few times because it was blowing cooler than I liked when I hopped in and started driving.
The system works as well as my auto air did in the F150 I had.

This has been beaten to death in numerous threads. There are some that complain but a majority seem to think it's just fine.

For some reason Jus Crusin has been replying to these threads for 11 months now telling people his AC is fine. I can only hope at some point his transmission stops working so I can reply to his thread and tell him mine is fine and how I just leave it in D and it does everything it's supposed to do.

My A/C is okay at best, and yes I also came out of a 2011 Ram which was my go to vehicle in hot weather. Even a year later, I find myself driving other cars and thinking "wow, the AC in here is freezing."

As mentioned above, there are a half dozen threads about A/C. In the last 2 weeks, some people have gotten frustrated enough to clamp off their heater core hoses which most have said makes a notable difference.

RamCares will also be on this thread asking you to open a case. You should.

Please go to your dealer with your complaints so that Ram takes it seriously and hopefully eventually fixes it. Those of us who bought new Rams last summer have dealt with it for a year, obviously there has been a resurgence of complaints and threads now that there are more Rams out there and much of the country seeing hot weather. There IS an A/C related TSB out, however, seems like few people have gotten their dealers to apply it.

Hi everyone,
There was an issue with the TSB (24-001-19) where all of the VINs were not included. This has been corrected and the dealer system has been updated to reflect this change. I have reposted the TSB below. Please check to see if your build date falls within this TSB. This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or after January 08, 2018 (MDH 0108XX) and on or before September 20, 2018 (MDH 0920XX) equipped with Air Conditioning (Sales Code HAA) with Air Cond ATC W/Dual Zone Control (Sales Code HAF). If it does, please send us a private message to ensure this is handled appropriately and we can get you in contact with someone who will work with your dealer towards a resolution. If you do not fall within the build dates and are experiencing this, please send our team a private message as we would like to make sure we have this properly documented to pass on to the appropriate parties. We do apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience.

@RamCares thank you for that. I will revisit my local dealer.

Out of curiosity, I don't see HAA or HAF on my build sheet - I do see HAFS "Air Cond ATC w/Dual Zone Control"

I assume this is a matter of option packaging since the above was standard on my laramie, but would be great to know in advance if somehow HAFS doesn't "qualify" me for the TSB

Here is my idea for a total/partial bypass that will get us through the summer until a proper resolution comes from Ram. This design will allow full flow rate and not increase pressures yet gives complete control. All parts available on Amazon or even Home Depot or Lowes. Pex parts wouldn't be at auto parts stores. If you decide to try it, do at your own risk. I have parts on order. Do not cut the factory hoses. You can add this between factory hoses and water pump, then remove it in future and make truck perfectly stock. **** Next, I will show you how to add a wood stove for winter heat...........lmao.....last part was a joke. Heater works good! The engineers had 100 years to get heat working right. :ROFLMAO: IMG_3083.jpg

Hi Jhill,
Just as a reminder, we do not recommend modifying your own vehicle. As stated in your Warranty Manual on page 11, "Your warranties don’t cover any part that was not on your vehicle when it left the manufacturing plant or is not certified for use on your vehicle. Nor do they cover the costs of any repairs or adjustments that might be caused or needed because of the installation or use of non-FCA US parts, components, equipment, materials, or additives."

I understand and making something that can be removed without a trace is of utmost importance. But.......If you want us to not apply OUR fixes, the push is for a proper fix as this has gone on for 17 months now and summer is ramping up rapidly in portions of country. Engineers had all winter. Owners are going to do whatever to get results. So.....if we use a valve from FCA Mopar parts bin it is then ok? They had a valve on 2013-2018 trucks and deleted it in 2019 redesign. I am sure you realize that probably 20% ? of folks on these sites have installed Carven, Magnaflow, Borla, etc exhausts, aftermarket cold air intakes, Pulsar Commanders, oil catch cans, etc etc. I understand and just am pushing back a little to get some action from engineers so we won't need to modify heater core plumbing. I appreciate that you are doing everything in your power to help us. (y)

Hi Jhill,
I do understand where you are coming from, but I do want to make you and other forum members aware of the warranty issues that may arise from this. Per your warranty manual on that same page, "Examples of the types of alterations not covered are: • Installing accessories — except for genuine FCA US/MOPAR accessories installed by an authorized Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram dealer." Our team will post any updates as we are given them.

We have to fix a problem FCA started, the plumbing mods we are doing are untraceable but if something goes kaput the problem starter (FCA) will have to foot the bill.

I have an 11/28/19 build and live in FL where the temps for the last two weeks have been 95+ degrees. I have had zero issues getting very cold air out of my AC and it appears to be handling the severe heat extremely well so some of you definitely have an issue that needs to be resolved.

Mine worked awesome last year. This year it’s not super cold and takes forever to cool. At idle it’s worse. I sent pm.

Cross posted in the hope it might get through to @RamCares

@RamCares
I was just over on the VWVortex forums and I found an interesting aspect that is included in modern VW products. HVAC software which allows for different AC performance via the blend system and compressor! In the Arteon forum
some customers complain that the AC was not cold enough and they live in hotter climes. In the software coding their is
a selection for "cold country" or "hot country" customers reported that when they had concerns the vent temps were registering in the 50s and 60s...in "cold country" setting, when the setting in software was changed to "hot country" the vent temps were consistently around 40 F, and remedied the customer concerns. This option is deeply embedded in the climate control module I'm pretty sure and you need a VW/Audi dedicated scan tool to access and change it.

Considering that many manufacturers have contracted out such software work could it be that Chrysler has as well, and this feature is actually on Chrysler products? It would certainly explain the odd situation were some vehicles are putting out consistent 40 F air without modifications while others do not.

Please contact engineering and ask them if it is possible that in error this feature is being placed or coded in the WRONG
setting. Thanks.

Here is the forum regarding the VW Arteon issue. Link, click below.

VW HVAC software coding for "hot country" or "cold country" affects vent temps. Resulting in vent temps too warm
