Shut my engine today and went into a friends house. When I got back in my car and started it car play was gone. Even used another cable, nothing!!! Annoying!
As I drove back home I ran through some ideas. I remembered that I installed a battery kill switch. I'd rather call it a battery reset switch.
I got home, opened the hood and reset my battery for 60 seconds and turned it back on. About two hours later I went back out and started my phone and plugged my iPhome 12 Max Pro in and every thing was back working fine.
What I have found in the last year with my Ram is that from time to time I loose my camera(s) on the review side mirrors. Usually after shutting the engine and opening the car door, the problem resolves itself. However at other (just a few) times my entire in the last 18 months owning my Ram, I've lost my 12" screen to totally black. To resolve this I installed the battery kill switch. It is a real score! When this garbage pops up like, a black screen, no cameras, and now no Car-Play all I have to go is reset my battery. This allows the software running all of these options to reboot and refresh itself. This has resolved my issues time and time again. This definitely and it may work for you. Its a real pain with pliers to disconnect your lead. Especially if you are not in your driveway. Keep in mind you need about 1.5 hours to get a full reboot. Installing the cut off switch only takes a few minutes and you will never get dirty again. I cannot drive my truck with out my cameras. I have depended on them 100% since i bought my truck without them I'd damage a wheel or something worse. I'm betting this is the solution for so many guys on these 9 pages of postings.
