I am having a similar issue. CarPlay refuses to work. I’ve done everything correctly, - I followed every step suggested in this forum, making sure all settings on phone were correct, 3 different cords, had my husband and mother try their phones and those didn’t work either. I recently purchased a new phone and that phone and new cord also doesn’t bring it up. . I have noticed as well that when I go to Media it doesn’t show anything as plugged into the USB connections even when there - so it’s nit just car play. All of the USBs work for charging so I am thinking it is maybe a truck software issue?? It did work the first week then there were a few days where sometimes it would and sometimes it wouldn’t. Now it has stopped all together. I have the Uconnect 4c w/o Nav - truck is a 2019 ram 1500 bighorn.

Another option, and just for iPhone health/speed/battery performance, is to clear your Ram.

EDIT: Turn Siri off before doing these instructions below.

“Hold down the power button until the “slide to power off” option appears on the device's display. 3. Next, release the power button, and then hold down the home button for roughly five seconds. And just like that — poof — the iPhone's memory, or RAM, is refreshed.”

If your phone ever glitches. Do this and it’ll fix it right on the spot. No need to resetart your phone all the time.

Interesting...that just brings up Siri for me.

Carplay worked first week I had the truck, suddenly stopped working. Went to work and the next day I tried the Verizon usb lightning cable and it’s worked for 2 weeks. Then this evening same problem again. Tried a new after market and a new Apple cable. Both didn’t work. Under my phone CarPlay setting I hit “forget vehicle” to try and reboot it and now my phone won’t find my vehicle. Very frustrating. Did all of the above options to try and get it to reboot including updating my iOS to 12.1, and still not finding my vehicle. Called Uconnect and after a 50 minute phone call of trying to soft reset the nav screen and a number of different options, they are going to give it to a “better” support team and should hear back Friday will keep everyone updated on the outcome.

I actually put my Garmin back in because carplay maps voice lady / navigation stopped talking to me like it would in my Chevy that I traded. I think they may still be working some bugs out, because I noticed another thread about an update being pushed. I have not received the update as of today.

I mentioned in the other thread that I lost lost apple carplay. I got it back by plugging in my iPhone before starting the truck. After starting, the phone buzzed intermittently and my carplay came back.

Spoke to Uconnect service tech, they are rolling out an update for the 8.4” screen in late 2018. Hopefully it helps.

EXACT same situation for me. Currently have battery disconnected for 30min to see if that triggers a reset of some kind. If it works I’ll let you know (not very hopeful).

Well that saves me time. Thanks for letting us know. I popped the hood yesterday to do just that.

Instead I got frustrated when I found 3 random flange nuts in the cowl.

Grrrr

I spoke to service tech Ram Naples Fl, today - he told me CarPlay, not initializing is the fault of Apple, per his contact in Detroit. Apple is to release an update 'soon'.

Anyway.. he was sort of a prude - I asked a question about how my rain sensing wipers don't seem to work, even though I have it set in the system settings and using the intermittent setting for sensitivity. He so much as told me that if I don't know how they work, I need to read the owners manual. Secondly, search YouTube 'lots of good information'...

I highly doubt I'll use the Naples dealership for warranty/service...

Was this resolved? Im having the same issue here. My CarPlay functioned for the first week of ownership then just... stopped. Switching cords/phones has zero effect - nothing helps, unfortunately.

I've had this issue with 2 JLs, a challenger, and a 19 ram, using the iPhone 7 up to the new xs max. Normally it's an issue of not recognizing the phone, pulling the battery cable always fixes it for me. The 19 non nav unit has issues with skipping audio in CarPlay, present in every bighorn I've tried, multiple cables, multiple phones. I gave up and went to a note 9 with android auto and all my problems went away!

Having the same issue, and no it is not the phone. I’ve tried mine, wife’s and my work iPhone 7. Taken it in 3 times, each they run an update, it works for about a day then nothing. I’ve also had issues with no sound coming out of the radio 5 times.

I found that if I wipe the connectors with my fingers before plugging it in, it corrects the issue...usually. I do believe it depends on the cable you are using.
