How exactly would you guys help out on this with the dealer? Curious.

Hi Ortiz7983,
Our team would escalate a case for you to connect you and your dealership with a case specialist who will aide in identifying the best course of action to address your concern. Escalating cases also monitors internally the volume of a certain concern to alert the appropriate parties. If you have any additional questions, our team is always available via private message!

I called my local RAM dealer today concerning the A/C TSB. The build date of the truck I am looking at is Aug 2018, within the time frame of the TSB. I asked them to run the VIN and let me know if it was flagged for the A/C TSB. They told me there was not TSBs for that VIN, but it did have a safety recall for the brake pedal. When I test drove the truck I noticed that the A/C was not cooling like t should and the outside temps here in FL were high 80s. So I wonder exactly what this TSB accomplishes to address this A/C issue and will they service it, even if it is not listed. makes you go hmmmmmm..
Yeah they told me the same thing that the TSB for the AC did not apply to my vehicle. I purchased my vehicle from the dealership in September of 2018.

Hi woolfski and Gladiator77,
We understand why this may be frustrating. As mentioned to your fellow forum members, if you would like to continue working with your dealer to address your A/C concerns, please send our team a private message and we would be happy to have a case escalated for you.

I did this and didn't really get anywhere, but it did get a case number established. They came back and said it was "characteristic of the vehicle". They also stated there were "no related cases or concerns". My case number was 101461459, maybe if they get enough complaints referencing other case numbers registered in their system - they'll do something.

I took my truck in yesterday and was told because it was in spec(45) they will do nothing. Witch will not keep the cab cool. So i asked the question you only test the ac system in recirculation mode fan speed 7. So we are expected to drive around with the ac maxed out all summer. There is no spec to test the auto system or the ac with out recirc on.

I have the a/c issue with my Sept 18th build. I purchased the truck in March when I didn't need the ac. Now, with temps in the high 80's, I can tell that its not blowing as cool as it should. A thermometer showed 49 on the driver side and 42 on the passenger side with a 74 outside temp over the weekend.

I'm taking the truck to the dealer in two days to handle the brake pedal recall. I'll have them check the ac when I am there and hope for the best..... I will also have the TSB printed out for them.

There is no way this truck will cool efficiently when these Mississippi temps reach 100 with 90% humidity in the next couple of months. It's struggling to keep up now.

Hello trook,

Keep us update on your dealer visit tomorrow. Our team can be contacted via private message and would be happy to help with that process.

I am just curious, does everyone in this forum with this issue have a 12 inch display or the 8.4?

I am having the issue with 8.4 and I don't have dual climate either. The driver side is not as cold as passenger and at times it blows cool air. Truck is at the dealer right now for the 2nd time to try and address the issue.

1st time they said that they flashed and updated the display (I don't understand why because I do not have the option to control my AC from the display). I went to the dealer and picked it up drove a block and turned around and dropped it off again (My Service Advisor is a GREAT guy BTW, I don't want this to reflect negatively on him) and I showed my SA the difference in the temp. He went to go get a mechanic but the mechanic just told him its probably low on Freon.

Now they said they are going to flush the freon and refill but based on this thread (which I mentioned to my SA) I don't believe its going to fix the issue.

Honestly I am a little frustrated and disappointed with FCA, and to make matters worse I had to purchase a rental package for $175 because Dodge will not give me a loaner to drive while they are trying to fix an issue that is from the Manufacturer. I understand not giving a loaner for an oil change or service but if your truck has an issue and I have to drop it off I cant believe that a loaner isn't provided. Maybe I'm spoiled because I came from a Lexus but that seems ridiculous to me.

I will not stop taking it in until this is fixed correctly and I refuse to do the temp fix so that later on they use it as an excuse to void my warranty. I didn't pay 45K for a truck to have AC issues when it doesn't even have 700 miles on it yet and be forced to do a rig for it to work as it should!

Im sorry for the rant guys, I'm just a little frustrated. I'm just glad I leased it and didn't buy it!

The cold producing freon part of AC is probably fine and if you search these various AC threads from the last few days you can see we recently figured out that the heater core is "leaking" heat into the airstream and diluting the cold air from evaporator. Member KcRay put a $15 valve on heater hose that supplies coolant to heater core next to water pump and vent temps plunged to 36-40 degree range when he closed valve! Possibly there is a blend door that controls mix of heat and cold that isn't closing off heat when we need full cooling. At least you can add the valve to get you through summer heat until Ram comes up with official fix. Hope this cools you down some. We are all pi$$ed about dealers blowing us off over issues!!!!

We are getting near 100s where I live, and the truck is usable only if you have not been parked under the sun for too long 20+ minutes, when sitting longer at these temps you really have to crank the A/C and it takes a lot to cool the cabin and you have to have it full blast. I never gets cold enough.

The A/C performance on these trucks IS NOT REASONABLE.

Thanks again KCRay!

Rant away, these trucks are so nice to have something like this happening with them. Keep us updated.

THANK YOU I had seen that, BUT I feel like I should NOT have to do this on a brand new truck with only 600 miles to fix a manufacture defect. Also, you take the risk of the dealer telling you that becuase you did that now xyz is not covered under warranty. I live in Miami so its summer 12 months out of the year!

My Dealer just called me now and told me that everything is working as it should and that there is nothing that they can do. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!

That sucks for sure, but I think we all knew that was going to happen, as there is no official FCA fix at this time. We all agree with you. Some day a dealer will step up to the plate, and work with FCA about this. I also completely believe FCA knows about this, but does not know how to rectify the situation, (as per the old TSB they put out for the early builds).

Yes, its a bit strange the TSB has been out since September 18, that means FCA knew about the problem, still my truck is a late February 19 build and the AC performance is still very poor. This might mean the fix is complicated to apply, even in current production.

Ichabod just offered this up on another AC thread as a temporary solution.

I saw that, I am following that thread as well. I may have to try that because I am taking a 4 hour trip on Friday and I refuse to be hot the entire ride in this FL heat! Thank you all for your help!

Do we know if these are "in stock" at HF or an online order thing?
It was 98 here yesterday and my A/C was sucking pretty bad. Been following along and this looks like an easy remedy.

This also may be an option. I would tie wrap it shut to ensure it doesnt open.
