I’d love to try this on my 2021 TRX. It’s the one feature I don’t have that I really miss. Write up would be great!!!After approximately 6-8 months, I have successfully installed and activated Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Sense, Forward Collision Warning, and Auto High Beams to my 2019 Lonestar. I got my truck back from the dealer this afternoon. They did a calibration procedure on my cruise control module which FINALLY allowed everything to activate. Persistence on this project was certainly the key to success.
I will briefly recap what's required to do this and approximate cost for those that will ask:
You have to replace the following:
Windshield - $400 (An OEM mopar one will cost more than double this)
DASM - $1,100 (this part has to be new, never installed on a vehicle)
Center Stack 12" or 8.4" (one with a lane sense button. As far as i know you cannot simply add the button. There also does not appear to be a softkey you could enable with alphaobd)
HCU - $200
ABS Module - $130
Steering Wheel Switch - $50
Dealer visit to calibrate after everything is installed - $100-$500 (depends on how your dealer handles this. For me it was a half hour labor charge)
Alpha OBD and Hardware - $100 (PC version recommended)
I am considering making a write-up for the procedure with all part numbers. There is inevitably stuff I do not remember when it comes to everything I enabled with alpha obd, but if several people are interested in one i will write one.
Big thanks to @Jimmy07 , his help certainly made this idea a reality
Check the link above. It has an the info. Others have added it to their TRX.I’d love to try this on my 2021 TRX. It’s the one feature I don’t have that I really miss. Write up would be great!!!
There's a video in the thread. But, yeah, took me a long time to get it out. Lots of patience.Anyone have the magic trick to remove the steering wheel from the 21? I can’t seem to catch the springs from the side holes
Hello, I have a 21 Laramie southwest edition with dsam, auto braking, blind spot, auto wipers, auto brights, I read I can add the acc with just the button and programming. Do you know if this info I got is correct? Also does it matter what speed control button I get? The one on your list , Mopar online says won't fit mine but shows a different model number part. Any help would be great. For those looking for a guide: https://5thgenrams.com/community/th...ne-assist-fcw-auto-hi-beam-to-ram-1500.30924/
I just got a 2021 Ram Rebel it has rain sensing and collision emergency braking front and back. I just installed the steering wheel switch to add adaptive cruise and bought the obd and bypass cable. Would you happen to know the procedure to unlocking this feature?Im really wanting to add adaptive cruise control to my 2019 Laramie 1500. I have the camera in the rearview mirror that does that rain sensing and auto high beam sensing, I believe this is referred to as the DASM (Drivers Assistance System Module), and already has the radar built in for the adaptive cruise control, as well as lane keep assist. Anyone have any background if I would be able to order the switches or new steering wheel with the extra buttons on it and program the truck to have this feature enabled? I have a feeling that camera behind the rear view mirror is already capable of this, but its just not enabled and missing the switches on the steering wheel and above the 12 inch screen.
Did you follow the procedure in the PDF in the first article?I just got a 2021 Ram Rebel it has rain sensing and collision emergency braking front and back. Use the part number without the last two characters. It will give you the newer part.Hello, I have a 21 Laramie southwest edition with dsam, auto braking, blind spot, auto wipers, auto brights, I read I can add the acc with just the button and programming. No I did not I’m assuming I have the right abs and hcu.Did you follow the procedure in the PDF in the first article?
No, you don’t. You’ll need to change those out. The TRX is the only model that only needs the switch (if it has DASM already). No I did not I’m assuming I have the right abs and hcu.
Not sure off hand. They’re in this thread somewhere.Ok so once I change the abs and hcu I’ll be good to go? Do you know what parts I need?
Have you checked the first post? Lots of info in there.Ok thanks for your help.
Ok thanks for your help.
I just realized he’s got some cross posting going on between this thread and the other thread. I started replying to him in the other thread, and I thought it was the same thread the whole time. @rizman22, all the info you need is in the first few posts of the other thread-Have you checked the first post? How to: Add Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane assist, FCW & Auto Hi-beam to Ram 1500
The following is to be used as a guide on how to install ACC, FCW, Lane Assist, Auto High Beam headlights and rain-sensitive wipers in your 5th Gen Ram 1500, also known as the Advanced Safety Group. I’ve also included a guide at the end of this document on how to install blind spot monitoring...5thgenrams.com
