Me and friend are going back and forth on the type of gas to put in our trucks.
So I have a 6 cylinder etorque and he has a 5.7 hemi.

Does it matter what engine you have and what is recommended.

93, and sometimes ethanol-free 90. But I’m filling up about once per month.

You’ll find a long thread on this via the search tool.

89 or 93, mainly 93 as I go to Costco and it’s cheaper then anywhere else

93 at sams unless they're out. It's cheaper than 89 anywhere else

93 when I can at Costco (cheaper than locals’ 87 or 89), which is most of the time.

87 whenever I have to buy gas unplanned, except when towing in the hills, then 93.

Not sure it makes a big diff in this vehicle....

This is the longest such thread that I could find with a quick search on "octane":

They recommend 89 on the 5.7 at least, so that's what I use, but I don't have a heart attack if I go somewhere and have to use 87. I seem to get 1-2 mpg better on the 89, though I'm not militant about checking it, so I figure I'm probably getting a better compression rate = more power = less throttle since I drive fairly easy = less fuel used. Since I pay more for 89, I figure it's a wash but maybe a little bit better detergents so I make out a little.

I only drive 6-7k miles per year with my truck so fuel cost is mostly irrelevant to me.

Used to use 87, but after hearing some light "knock" during onramp acceleration in the Florida heat it gets 89 now.

91 since day 1, that's about as high as it gets around here. Threw some 93 in Austin for about 3 tanks, felt no difference but it felt nice pumping it lol

I use 91/92 because of my tune.
I used to only fuel up at Costco, I stopped because hemituner stated whatever fuel I used was crap.
So I ran two tanks of chevron through before redoing my new data log.

The Costco having bad fuel, or should I say the local one, that surprised a little bit.

89. In my old 2009 I used 87 and truck ran fine, in the new 2020, it seems more sensitive and runs better with the 89 octane
