5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

Check out Fox Accoustics. They have decent stuff, but taking a while to get. I waited a little over a month. I got the sealed box so I'd have some space under the seats. Check their site for a better angle. I know they were working on some quad cab boxes. Check their site or call (if you can get anyone on the phone).

I had a shop in Bellevue, WA build it for me. It’s a custom design and build for my 2019 RAM Bighorn. It was CNC cut and loaded with 2 JL 10TW3’s. Had to disable the ANC but haven’t noticed a road noise or engine noise difference. Playing tunes with this beauty all the time anyways...best ANC solution in my opinion.

Pac just updated the amppro to work with non amplified systems. I would go this route but I have everything to replace my 5” radio this weekend with an aftermarket kenwood

Anybody that used that Kicker Hideaway have any issues with it fitting under driver or passenger seat? There’s a bunch of wires/tubes (I think AC?) and I’d have to bunch those or something.

I’d like to just stay with that one as to not lose the folding flaps by using the Fox box.

Thanks!

Alright, I took my back seat out in hopes to mount my amp back there. A few questions come to mind. What's a good sage way to mount that amp. I was thinking some velcro but worry it might not hold when and if the amp gets to hot. The next question. There is a harness back there not connected to anything, what would that before? Last but not least. There are a bunch of wires back there, are there any speaker wire back there I can tap into for the lc2i?

is it true you need to tap into the speaker wires to run them into the FIX 86 from the output side of the stock amplifier?

from the output of the radio then into your favorite aftermarket amplifier. Bypasses the factory junk

My understanding was that the signal is processed at the amplifier and needs to be tapped into afterwards to prevent any issues with the signal or the other options the radio does.

I thought you had the 6 speaker non amp radio.. If you have the factory Alpine or HK then you dont want to use the FIX,, use the PAC. that will give you necessary ouputs and retain the issues you are worried about. I have no experience with the PAC unit other then reading these threads. Try to check with someone that has this Factory Alpine or HK and check their experince.
Good Luck

I have the 6 speaker system and replaced all 6 speakers with recommendations listed here. I have CDT 69S 2 ohm speakers in all of the doors and I currently have JL C2 3.5”, 4 ohm, 83 dB sensitivity (bass blockers installed) in the dash. The dash speakers seem to be too bright and also too loud. I have also tried infinity reference and Hertz Dcx 87.3s. Both were too bright. Does anyone have a recommendation to remedy this? I understand they are wired in parallel with the front door speakers. I just can’t understand why they are so much louder than the doors with the doors being 2 ohm.

According to the wiring diagram which may or may not be correct. All speakers do not pass through the ANC System only the doors.

Looks like we were wrong about the dash speakers; I ohm'd them out from the ANC output connector and they do route through the ANC. Not sure why because what you said makes sense. Anyways, I ended up completely removing the ANC and connecting the Kicker Key amp inline under the driver's seat. Soldered in a couple 400 hz high pass filters on the dash speakers and connected the 4 6X9 to the amp. Wasn't sure what to expect from the KICKER amp, but I'm actually impressed with its performance. After running the built-in DSP setup you have the option to turn it on and off to hear the difference. I'm not an audiophile so I've never been able to tweak my systems to account for things like time alignment so I had no idea the difference a properly setup system could make. The auto setup took care of all the guess work in adjusting the timing, crossovers, and EQ. The sound now seems to come straight out of the head unit and fills the entire cab. Still trying to decide if/when I want to add a sub or two, but for now I'm content. Thanks again for everyones guidance.

Hopefully finish my 6 speaker upgrade this weekend.

I used speaker pop to test my alpine system... (i am getting ready to upgrade all my speakers) and according to it the only speaker that was in phase was the left dash.

Ill do a manual 9v test on all the speakers when i start installing the replacements

This is correct. It is wired that way intentionally due to the ANC it appears. When I replaced all my speakers I made sure they were all in proper phase as I really don't care about the ANC and will be disconnecting it when I add my amps anyway.

I bought a harness to get rid of the ANC also... see how it goes with and without the ANC

Well Folks,,,, I love my wife.. She just bought me the Alpine Halo 308... The Floating head unit. Got her installed for a trial run in the Ram and (H.... S) Not going back.. This unit is awesome, EZ instal and so far i haven't found anything not working with the factory stuff. I have the two backup cameras, both working just as factory.. Didnt loose my trailer brakes functionality, Didn't loose anything. As soon as i get this permanently installed i will post some pics.. There are a few mods i will be doing,, i. e. glueing a section of plastic cover across the entire back side of the factory radio bezel and CNC milling a new cut out. Doing this on one of those $200 China CNC mills. When this is done,, will look like a factory set up... The sound experience of this unit is just 'WOW'...... I mean really WOW.. and the Dispaly over factory 8.4 and killer. I'j really excited, this thing is meant for the Rams.

Hey Guys and Gals, I just finished my upgrade on a 2019 1500 crew 8.4' Non-alpine system using all the information posted on the forum. First, let me start with a great appreciation for those who have paved the way for this upgrade. Without your trial and error, and knowledge, this would not have been possible. Therefore, thank you!

In the 8.4 system, there is an Active Noise Cancellation device Crutchfield is calling an amp. It's not an AMP, it's ANC. There are two connectors on this device, input, and output. The smaller connector in the input from the radio, the larger connector for the speakers. You can tap into these for all your wiring needs, just use the proper wire splice connector.

I used the Audio Control LC6I DSP for $100 on amazon,
Simple to use and easy to install. I mounted mine under the seat, but don't mount it on top of the ANC there is not enough clearance.
You'll also need the 50 Ohm resistors, installed on the positive leds from the Radio, this will keep the radio from turning off. Again, this information can be found in the forum. Additional, you WILL have to disconnect the Mic's that are located in the headliner. These stupid things will reek havoc and produce a boom hum from the speakers. Simple solution, again found hear in the forum, depinned or cut the wires on the larger connector attached to the ANC. I worked for two hours trying to depin, and in the end, I just cut one wire from each mic. problem solved. Used the diagram..
I purchased my speakers from Crutchfield, all speakers are Kicker KS and CS series. 3.5 in the dash with 150Hz bass blocker capacitors. Metra wiring connector from CF. WARNING. These are wired with reversed polarity and will need to be changed. Also, CF wiring diagram in currently incorrect. Don't use it... The correct wiring can be found here in the forum... Thank you to whoever posted it, that was a big help!

For the front doors, I used Kicker KS series 6.5' components with the supplied adapter from CF.
For the rears doors, again Kicker KS Series 6x9.
Foxacoustics makes an excellent enclosure for under the rear seat. It's worth $200. I've built subs for years, and this my first in a long time being purchase.
I used Rockford Fosgate R2D2 10" subs leftover from my previous install. Good subs for the money. under $100 ea.
Crunch AMPS for the Subs and Coax, again leftover from the previous car. I mounted the amps behind the rear seat in the crew cab. There is plenty of room for two average-sized amps. Seat removal is easy with the correct Star Socket... Don't use a 12 point socket...

For less than $500, I now have a Kick *** systems. Still needs some tweaking... I have listed a few items if you are interested.

Great write-up. Thanks for taking the time. Any pics of the amps mounted by chance?
