Nope not needed. Good drive into work this am, the large silk dome on these JL’s very smooth so much better than the stock units. You have a bass blocker on the JL 3.5?
Any update on deadening? The dash 3.5s are 8 ohm in the stock 6 speaker layout. I wonder if the 9 and 19 systems also use 8's...
I'm really curious to see how and where others install deadening. That's my next project.
Which frequencies are sent to each door speaker, and why switch from JBL to CDT?For anyone looking to make changes to the Alpine system. I traced everything out and the phases are reversed at the speakers themselves in all 4 doors I have attached a schematic with the connector layout. I swapped all 4 door speakers with JBL GX962 and used road kill on the inside of the door skin of all four door skins directly behind the speakers. I made some foam rings out of 1-1/4" AC foam from home depot ($1.98 each) and 3M double stick tape. Then road killed the backside of the all the door panels. Mid base response was greatly improved. The JBL's in the front doors are much tighter and more accurate than the factory speakers and compliment the GX302s in the dash nicely the rear doors or just fills, ideally you shouldn't hear them from the front seat which I was hearing more highs from behind me because of the tweeter in the JBL that's not there in the factory speakers. Faded the system to the front a few notches to reduce it. Going to run it like this for a while but ultimately I will probably replace all 4 doors with CDT audio CL-69S.2.
How do you know which speaker it’s measuring?
No deadening yet....Any update on deadening?
Just wanted to thank everyone in this thread for the information learned and shared. Using this thread and others I completed my stock 6 speaker swap and sub and amp installs and it sounds great. I did use @Redline96 method of bypassing the ANC. I can post my setup if anyone is interested. Thanks again!
Yes the ANC is completed removed and sitting in the storage box under the rear floor mat. I used the pac harness to feed the radio straight to the amps as Redline96 did. I also forgot to add that I am running 10" subs (had them in my 14) with the adapters for the 12' box. Don't see a need to upgrade to 12s as the 10s are pretty loud already. Have to watch leaving things on the center console if i crank it up because they vibrate off. I had the 2-10" ported fox box in my 14' and really like the sound it provides. He only had the sealed 2-10 box and 2-12 ported when I went to pick it up. I listen to a wide range of music and the bass response has been good for all.
Didnt effect using the phone thru bluetooth?
Pretty sure dash kits for the 2018 replace the front panel of the center stack which has all the openings for the AC controls integrated into it. Those are for sure different from the 2019 DT, unless you have a 2019 DS (old body style) or what ram is calling the 2019 classic. Otherwise a metra 95-6518B might work with some cutting and trimming.I have stock 5” screen no amp no anc.ive put jl c2 6x9 in front doors and 3.5 in the dash.looking to install a 5 channel amp jl subs and new speakers in the doors.i want to upgrade the deck also but haven’t found a dash kit yet.will anything from the 2018 rams work?
