Well, i would have to TEST that in real conditions, side-by-side, towing a boat from NJ to Pulaski NY = some looong hills to climbIndeed, thanks for the laughs; because the 3.21 has a shorter first gear with the ZF than the Tundra with a 4.30, and it has 2 more gears on top of it all. The factual points are, the 3.21 destroys the tundra on 3 key points:
1) shorter first gear (better for off the line pulling)
2) taller overdrive (better MPG when driving unloaded)
3) two more gears for perfect rev matching.
Whatever you're thinking, you need to think again good sir.

before the lock? who knows lolThe other 3.21/3.92 thread got shut down after 3k replies. Wonder how far this one will get lol
Coming from a 2018 Tundra 5.7 with 4.30 Rear AND driving both the 3.21 and 3.92 Ram 1500 , i would say that the 3.92 is more peppy, defined and stout = similar to my Tundra
Three important traits of a strong work truck - lol
3.21 is great all around use except for the factual points that has been elevated on here.
Thank you-all for the good laughter
I posted multiple times that Stellantis should have kept the 3.55 for the hemi. At least its available in the Hurricane.the 2025's have 355's why not meet in the middle? whos is gonna be the first to put 355 in a hemi truck?
"math formula" = i always test on pavementThere is nothing to test, it's a math formula. The v8 tundra with the 6 speed has a first gear ratio of only 3.333 whereas the new Rams have a first gear ratio of 5.
Ram: 5 * 3.21 = 16.05
Tundra: 3.333 * 4.30 = 14.3319
Clearly the Ram digs harder from a stop.
There is literally nothing about the v8 tundra that performs better than the Ram 3.21. The hemi itself already has more power, and it has shorter first gear, taller last gear, more gear ratios to choose from etc. You can also purchase these with 4x4 AUTO, the tundra doesn't even offer that, or a rear locker for that matter. Literally everything is worse in the old tundra. But at least it had tow hooks and a v8, that's more than can be said for the current tundra train wreck.
You can try and make the case about longevity, but two things to remember: the body/rest of the truck isn't going to last longer than the ram, most people only on average 20k miles or so on their car/truck per year which means you'll find many 20+ year old rams still out there, some with very high mileage.
Awesome lol reply - thank youUsing words like “peppy, defined and stout” , I’m perplexed.
Yoyo words probably, who knows.
I think you should hang out with em boys doing burnouts and taking pics for their women. Marking their territory like a ruttin buck.

The math is the only thing that doesn't lie, or get confused, or have a poor memory etc. The math says the 3.21 is a better truck in every way, so it is."math formula" = i always test on pavement
Paper is for the pre-examination of components/cost/price
"There is literally nothing about the v8 tundra that performs better than the Ram 3.21." = lol
In theory, on paper, the math always proves true - until flaws show up.The math is the only thing that doesn't lie, or get confused, or have a poor memory etc. The math says the 3.21 is a better truck in every way, so it is.

We can theorize on paper with flawless accuracy = on paper
Then comes reality where physics and the law of SELECTION takes over = just like marriage
Divorce ensues when the 'paper' analytics result in malfunction and/or depreciation of that which previously was highly regarded as truth.
Many of us who have driven multiple 'paper' products over the past 40 years have all seen this 'divorce' from perfect paper analytics incorrectly applied to real world manufacturing of said paper perfection.
Conclusion: the last word was in Post #463 and the New Beginning is in the RAM I6 which NEEDS continued 'pavement' APPROVAL design modifications, to which i will remain in a state of equilibrium in a RAM 2022 Hemi, by which the pavement beneath my feet will eat my rubber.
Upon proper supervision of the 'paper' engineering department, the I6 should become the Raquel Welch/Bo Derek of the road.
Note: Marriage is authorized on 'paper' but is consummated in a continual state of 3D, which includes friction that is reduced by proper lubrication of moving parts.
Awesome lol reply - thank you
My theory performed flawlessly as those words were chosen just for you AND for all of us to continue the lol on this thread
I got you. You posted not long ago that you were fortunate enough to lay some pipe. You mentioned something about a trencher … we understand.I don’t think I’m smart enough to read this

Lubrication helps.
That’s all.

No. This is what guys who don't understand math like to think, but it is wrong. This isn't marriage where there are feelings and attractions and character flaws.
Example. You have Bob with 2 bottles of 500ml of water, and you have Fred with 1 bottle of 2l of water. You don't need to drink all of it to "test who has more water", you run a simple calculation and discover that despite having 2 bottles, Bob actually has less than Fred.
It's a simple math formula.
This is what guys who don't understand math like to think,
i agree with = "but it's wrong" when pertaining to "guys who don't understand math like to think" - lolbut it is wrong.
