2025 Tungsten - Good/Bad

Sorry you're dealing with these things. It's disappointing.
I can confirm I have the same with #1. I haven't mentioned it b/c I thought I was imagining it. But your description is spot on. I tend to use Apple CarPlay, and use Pandora. The dropouts don't make any sense at all, especially when I'm out of cell coverage and using offline music.
I think it's some kind of poorly coded CPU interrupt handling within the uConnect software. I have mostly been using wireless and trying to spot a trend, it really seems like it happens more when driving in the city which makes me think it has something to do with the Nav software tying up the CPU handling the infotainment. When I'm doing long stints on the highway in rural areas the drop outs are much less frequent. I think most people would think it has something to do with interference - but it definitely is not.

Purely just a hypothesis at this point but I've had enough people report the same thing that I know this is a universal issue with Rams and not unique to my truck or even the Tungsten in general... so far I've talked to 4 tungsten owners confirming the same issue, and 1 longhorn owner.

I've seen so many threads like this as well - Audio glitchy with carplay, low tire warning since uconnect update this week - but they never end with a solution and always seem to derail into other carplay related issues. I think this skipping audio bug has been around for quite a while on uConnect.

I've been reading all the issues here, and knocking on wood multiple times a day. Today on a drive home the FCW "OFF" light came on. A few minutes later I got an alert that autobraking was disabled. When I got home, I parked it, shut it off, and went to get the manual to figure out what the icons were. When I started it back up, they were gone. I'd LOVE to think and hope that was a one-off, but with two previous Rams, my experience has been that they usually come back, and get worse. I'll wait to see if (when) it happens again, and then I'll ask the forum for thoughts. I dread taking this to a dealer.

I had a super weird issue happen this weekend. I was listening to Sirius XM and tried to adjust the volume. I saw the note symbol and the volume go up and down but the actual volume of the music wouldn't change. On the right side of the steering wheel, there is the up down button for the volume. Between the up and the down there is a button and that changes between AM FM, Sirius, XM, etc. I had to hit that a few times before me to be able to control the volume. The last time I hit it I heard a very loud crack noise like there was some sort of a short. I thought I smelled something burning but it could have just been my imagination. I shut the truck off and when I turned it back on everything started working fine. No idea what in the world could have happened.

Yikes - not a confidence inspiring event! I hate it when I think I smell the magic smoke.....

A bit of a rocky start with my 2025 Tungsten - bought it because I fell in love with the audio system and the smoothness of the engine but has anyone else run into any of these issues?

1. Apple carplay audio randomly cutting out for about a half a second? It seems to happen more at the beginning of a drive. I know for a fact its not audio buffering from the source (it's downloaded audio). It doesn't seem to happen on a USB cable, it's specifically when operating on wireless media. I tested wireless android audio and had the same issue. I suspect this is a uConnect thing... the software has been very disappointing overall, which I kind of expected since I had a 2023 rebel and uConnect was pretty terrible in that truck also.

2. Buzz coming from the driver's side dash speaker - comes on at about 285hz specifically if I use a tone generator, which is a frequency hit often in music so I notice it quite a bit. They replaced the grill and the speaker today, it really just made it worse - seems to come on at even lower volume. I can lessen the buzz when I press on the grill, so it could be the section of dash that it's actually attached too that is the root cause. I've temporarily jammed a bunch of foam up between the glass and the grill as well as the a-piller liner and the grill to lessen it. They're supposed to talk to the tech line on Monday to get some advice... not confident. I did notice when I looked up the part number for the dash speakers that they are *not* unique to the Klipsch system, they're just generic to basically every trim line of the truck. I may try replacing them with something else.
3. Engine stops running shifting between reverse/drive (like on a 3pt turn or backing out of the driveway) - This one has only happened to me twice over about 3 weeks of ownership. I'll shift from reverse into drive, and then the engine just stops - doesn't hesitate - it's as if I just hit the run button to shut it down.. and then the truck will roll the dial into park because its in gear and the engine isn't running. Haven't talked to service about this one yet since its only happened twice, but if it happens again I'm going to definitely have them start looking at it. It's not throwing codes for this.

4. Another weird issue right from the factory on mine is that the rear passenger door lock is extremely stiff and will not actuate with power locks... they tried to fix it today and just marred up the grommet around the manual lock pull. Needless to say, I'm pretty disappointed with the service so far. They're going to have to fix it properly and now replace the indigo colored grommet around the manual lock pull.
I'm using Galaxy android, have had no issues with drop out. Maybe I'm just lucky. My rattle and hum was fixed when dealer replaced subwoofer and pins, no issue since. No door rear door lock issue. I hope they get you straightened out, such an awesome truck for sure. I do have one new issue with mine not mentioned.... The annoying Seri coming on for no reason saying "Pardon me" I never use that function and turned off in settings but apparently cannot turn it off!

Same issue as #1 and it’s been happening on my first and second (replacement) Tungsten.

Only other issues so far are my massaging seats make a high pitched noise and my proximity wake is not working. Other than that so far so good.
Replacement?

That sucks. Maybe someone else here will have an idea. Shame to have to take it in soon for service.
My barn doors don’t work on occasion so I drop the tailgate and give it a hard close then the bar doors work.

Almost 3000 miles on the Tungsten 17-18 mpg on average.
On the highway I found 72 mph to be the sweet spot. Always in 2 wheel drive.
So much fun to drive!

Couple issues I’m having

Number 1 from previous post about sound cutting out for a split second

Klipsch app makes the AM and FM search for channels non stop until you reset the radio.

Driving assist side dash lights only work at night, as soon as the system changes for night mode to day mode they stop working. The steering wheel symbol is there but not the red, green and yellow side lights.

Front impact warning light has come on and disabled cruise control twice.
Started working probably both times after I turned it off for a couple minutes.

almost seems like the electronics are a little different ever time I start it🤣

I’m hoping a trip to the dealership later in the month will resolve these issues

Yes! Gauges widgets working or not, maps loaded or not, half of screen stuck in night mode, volume not working, etc. fortunately a reboot has taken care of issues each time for me.

Picked up my Tungsten on 4/10/25. I only have 370 mi to date and these are the issues so far...
  • Yesterday on my why home from work, I was stopped at a stoplight and the Truck went into park randomly.
  • Got to work this morning turned off the truck went and unlock some of our shop doors came back to the truck 1-2 min later to grab my stuff and there was a random clicking noise. Would describe the sound as a electronic switch tripping on and off.
  • Can't get wi-fi to work. I'm not new to the RAM wi-fi since I'm coming from a 2019 RAM Limited. I set everything up in the trucks app. and set a new network wi-fi name and password. Went into my phones setting clicked wi-fi found the new wi-fi click to join and it give me a warning that the IP address is hidden and can connect due to a secure network. 2 sec after getting the warning it redirects me to AT&T website which, AT&T does not service the 2025. I called RAM and the tech tired to help but finally said she had no clue so she open a case ticket on 4/14. A couple of hrs. later i get a call from another tech that asked if i could email them photo so they could research it. Sent the photo right after i got off the phone. No return phone call as of yet.
Update regarding the w-fi: The tech said the issue was carplay. It won't allow me to connect to wi-fi if carplay is running through the bluetooth. Had to remove carplay to get wi-fi to work. I still can access carplay by connecting it with a cord and USB.

I have the same issue as #1, but in all fairness, I had the same issue in my BMW. I believe it is an inherent problem with the fact that Apple Carplay uses wifi in addition to Bluetooth. My only evidence is when I would connect via Bluetooth only to my BMW (no Carplay) the cutting out would not happen.

Update 4/28/25: 1st service visit because the passenger door will not lock.

After a 9 month wait, I finally received my RAM Tungsten from Mark Dodge. After gleaning a lot of information from users on this forum, I wanted to share my experiences after 4 days and 1100 miles:

Good Stuff:
1. Purchased through Mark Dodge (Anthony and team) in Lake Charles LA (I live in MO). The purchase process went well, the price I paid was very fair and in-line with what Mark Dodge offers all buyers. Delivery, and trade-in was seamless and quick. The only minor issues during acceptance were no digital keycard was available (will be sent to me), and the lumbar seat control didn't work; service manager was aware of this problem but did not have a solution. This should have been disclosed. Even with these minor nits, I would still highly recommend Mark Dodge.
2. The truck runs and drives exceptionally well. No drivetrain issues at all, very powerful and smooth.
3. Ride quality is exceptional, as is the cabin comfort.
4. Klipsch sound system is great and as good as if not better that the Bowers and Wilkens system in my Volvo.
5. Hands free driving was easy to use and worked very well (used on and off for at least 150 miles). It did feel to me there was a tendency for the system to hug the left side of the drive lane, but I got used to it.
6. Seat massage function is great.

My first impressions were really good until halfway through my road trip when things started going wrong.

Not so good stuff:
1. Already mentioned the lumbar seat control issue and later found that none of the seat controls in the Uconnect system work (with exception of massage).
2. Automatic Emergency breaking stopped working - service required message.
3. Blind spot monitoring stopped working - service required message.
4. Hands free driving stopped working - service required message.

I don't have any codes for the above issues yet but will share when/if I get them. Taking the truck into the dealer tomorrow and hoping this doesn't turn into a protracted ordeal. At this point I'm pleased with my purchase and expect the issues I'm having to be worked out. That said, this kind of stuff should not happen to start with and point to SW and/or HW quality control problems at the factory. I'll follow-up with dealer fixes.
Did you ever get your AEB and hands free driving service required resolved? The dealer said they cleared a code and it started working again, but today, the crash detection off indicator on the dash was on and got the hands free driving service required message when I tried to activate it.

hands free driving is a oxymoron. if you don't have hands on the wheel you are not driving.....

I hope that the problems here are a small subset of all Tungsten owners experience. THBS, deal killers for me for the Tungsten were the mandatory sunroof, mandatory 5"7' box and the relatively limited payload. No doubt, if it runs right, it is a great luxury truck, but I need the ability to have 4 full sized adults in the rig and a bed full of camping gear. I have not seen a Tungsten with enough payload for our needs.

Dealer could not duplicate; there were no stored codes and this has not recurred. As an update to my original post, my truck has now been at my local dealership for over two weeks. I took it in for a number of minor items including CarPlay audio dropouts, mirrors not retaining settings, proximity wakeup not working, and a loud rear cabin popping noise over road imperfections and while cornering at lower speed. The last item has turned out to be a real mess as the dealership had to call in Stellantis to help locate the source of the popping noise. Working with a local (St. Louis area) Stellantis tech, they replaced the sunroof rails - no joy. Next, they dropped the headliner and found "something" and while working on that, the Stellantis tech managed to poke a hole in the roof; truck has been at the body shop for over a week.

Important to note in this update, I still love the truck! Great ride, power, luxury, etc. Also wanted to note that my local dealer (Lou Fusz, O'Fallon MO) has been great to work with and has provided me with a loaner truck while everything gets sorted out. I'll update with specifics when I get the truck back.

You are probably aware already but I was not at first. I love how the hands free driving works and it works quite well. I didn't find out until later than it only works on pre-approved highways. If it isn't an interstate it probably won't work. At least it doesn't in my area.

I don't know, I've had it work on every street around my house and I don't live in a highly populated area. Also, it works on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge - that is 5 miles long - which surprised me.

The map is online but it’s mainly Interstate highways or a handful of other divided , limited access highways.
