Well, I have 196 miles and I'm already stranded. The parking brake has automatically engaged itself and no matter what I try I cannot get it to release. This isn't my first ram so I am aware of how to release it. And to be clear, I never engaged it in the first place. I just got off the phone with the tech and he said there is no way to manually disengage it. There are other quirks I've noticed which had me worried, but i didn't expect something like this.

I'm waiting for it to be towed to the dealership.

If you aren't dead set on ram and are thinking about ordering one, don't. My wifes grand wagoneer has been plagued with electrical issues so I should have known better.

Im absolutely furious and besides myself that engineers don't have a manual disengage, or why it's electronic to begin with.

Oh, to make matters even better? Roadside assistance says I'm not covered. Gave them my VIN twice, name, phone number. I'm now paying for the damn tow. The money is insignificant, the hassle and aggravation is enormous. Now I have to hassle with getting reimbursed simply out of principle

What a shame. hopefully all is well after this dilemma with your brand spanking new truck.

Interesting, your wife has had nothing but issues, you believe Rams have issues, but you bought the first run of the most expensive 1500.

Did you try disconnecting the batter and then reconnecting it?

While I understand this isn’t common, it’s one of the reasons I’m waiting a few years for these to sort out.
OP, sorry about your luck.
On my 2023, earlier this year, I came to a stop on a turn around (or Michigan left as we call them) parking brake engaged, I know I didn’t touch it. Stopped, park, disengage… and never a problem since (several thousand miles later).
Hopefully they get it sorted. Tungsten is the trim model I’ll be after in about 6-7 years.

Good luck OP.

Fair point. However, this isn't an all new vehicle. It's a light refresh. And this issue is nothing new at all, the electronic parking brake has been a thing for a while. Additionally we father has had 2 of the next gen grand cherokees with no issues.

I'm fully aware of the issues with first run vehicles but that rule typically doesn't apply to refreshes, at least not in my experience.

I did not attempt the battery disconnect. No tools in the truck and the dealership was a couple of blocks away.

I appreciate the reply and feel better knowing you only had the issue once. The dealer was able to get it to operate normally once it was towed there (tow truck driver could not). My big concern is if they don't see anything obviously wrong, there won't be a fix and I may lose confidence in a vehicle. The code thrown was to check the parking brake switch.

But yeah to be clear, I never buy all new models, I always wait a year for them to sort stuff out.

I'm on my third Stellanis product and found that battery disconnect is a great first shot at most oddities.

Thanks again for the tip.

I'm going to buy a permanent socket wrench for the battery disconnect for potential future emergencies. Hoping I can get the truck back today. Funny thing is I was on my way home to write a glowing review of the truck even despite a few quirks (all related to new features). I'll still do that thread so people have an idea of what to expect should they not experience this gremlin.

I was especially pissed yesterday as I had literally arrived home from a 2 week Asia trip at 6 am in the morning and worn out from traveling.

On the contrary this is a “light refresh” with a completely new engine and “electrical architecture”. So the two things that drive these trucks are brand new.

With that being said I had a GMC sierra denali last year and the head gasket blew with 196 miles on it. Things happen, hopefully this is less of a permanent issue that that and more of a loose connection of some kind.

It .ight be a "light refresh" appearance wise, but the engine, canbus, and electrical system are all new.

My wife GC Limited had constant technical issues. Only one time did they ever result is something 'stopping' her from using the vehicle. But it was crazy. My Wrangler hasn't really had a single issue, and my 1500 needed the battery disconnected to somehow fix the charging pad and rear defroster. Electronics are clearly a hard topic at Stellanis HQ.

I had this happen to me right after i bought my truck new about 350 miles on it . Mine was in the garage and i had to find away to get it out from the way i parked it no rolling it out. I ended up looking online and found some other people with ford vehicles had the issue . They were able to disengage the electric brake from doing a combo of turning the key a few times while hitting start , or something to that effect . I ended up trying this on my truck and got it to disengage. Wasnt sure exact combo that worked but it worked. Had to take it to dealer to clear a few codes i had from abs

Don't think it is limited to just Stellantis vehicles. All modern vehicles have issues.

Neither of those are brand new to stellantis vehicles.

I knew the engine wasn’t but I was under the impression that the “Atlantis high” architecture was. Is that also in the wagoneer?

Ok, so understanding that and that problems do arise from time to time, why are you telling people to not buy the truck? Why not let a small problem be remedied by the service dept and wait to see what the actual issue was?
