Anyone know what kit I need for a trailer camera for the new 25 ram 1500 tungsten already equipped for external cameras? I already have the connection on the rear to plug in cameras. IMG_9991.jpeg

Some info here

There are at least two different options. One option is the "Trailer Surround View Camera System" (aka - 360 camera system) which is a four camera system. p/n 82216421AE (this part number was provided by a CDJR dealer and is available through Mopar (note - Ram is no longer including this kit with the Towing Technology Group, even if you see it advertised). These cameras are only viewable in the Uconnect screen at very low speeds (i.e., parking). Hang onto your wallet....

There is another option for a single trailer camera, that displays on your Digital RearView Mirror. When activated, you will see this camera in your rear view mirror all the time. I'm waiting for a dealer to provide me the p/n for the 2025 Ram 1500. I've found the following two p/n's, but believe they are technically for the HDs (2500, 3500, etc): 68527599AA, 68586112AA. PLEASE do not take my word for these p/n's! Do some more research, and cross-check with a dealer. I would like one of these myself, so if you learn anything definitive, post back here. Good luck!

I ma working on this same issue for my Forged Blue '25 Limited with just about all the options, including all the tow options.

I have a good friend who is a parts manager at a dealer, he has dove into this, and come up with nothing. Due to the changes with the 2025 CANBUS system, many electrical accessories that work on years prior dont work on the 25's, and while many of the online parts retailers say pre 25 parts work on 25's, many actually dont.

The 1 port connector...

The 2025 Digital Rear View Mirror with tow mode that uses the "1" port of the 12/1 connector. I confirmed thru him that my truck has the dual input DRVM, part # 68594723AA. The 1500 '25's are the only platform that uses that part #, as it is a new CANBUS. He is reaching out to his MOPAR parts help line to find out a DRVM tow mode camera part # that works with the '25. He told me he doesnt see anything listed for cameras (12 or 1) for the '25s, and wouldnt be shocked if there is nothing out yet. So there may not be a "1" port camera yet for us. One small hope is that 68586112AA might work for us, but until someone plugs one into the back for a 25, we wont know. Ram info has nothing that says it will, and I dont trust the "Beyond" they list in this link. Here is info about earlier HD tow mode cams. https://www.ramtrucks.com/BodyBuilder/service/Image?imageId=MtQrP/FqLY5r/est8MtGjGgHzAHGUTU0WB3rWuqSY7YmQ2vEhuBWBNOxyjrveCL6

The 12 port connector....

The 12 port (which displays on the center stack, (AUX 1 and AUX 2) he also doesnt see anything listed for the 25's.

I think at this point, until someone with a "Pre '25" 12 port camera system plugs it into a 25 to see if it works, we wont know if there is possibly an exisiting solution.. There are 2 versions of the 12 port camera (Trailer 360) and the (Dual) camera system and some appear to be compatible with several model years, and some dont. At this rate, I would not be shocked if a 20/21/22/23/24 systems DONT work on the 25's.

The hunt goes on. The only hope is the '25 HD's use the same system the '25 1500s' do and that forces Ram to get on the ball and offer some options for '25 owners. And even then, they wont be cheap coming from the dealer.

I would love to be proven wrong, and hope someone posts "I have existing part # 1234 and it works fine on a '25". That would be fantastic.

Good info! Thanks.
Your buddy doesn't see 82216421AE as a valid part for the 360 kit? If not, it puts the info I received from a dealer into question. :(

@Jimmy07 might be able to help. He's had input on camera in other threads. Agree, the no-kidding test of connecting a known p/n kit to the back of a '25 is the only way to go. The single camera kits are around $600 and the 360 kits are close to 3x that. Pricey. So really want to be sure before we pull the trigger.

Not for 2025's. Pre 25's its a good part. I dont need the 360 camera kit, I'd be fine with a "1 pin" tow mode DRVM kit or a "12 pin" Dual kit, (which really isnt 2 cameras but thats another story)

The hunt continues.

The question is, do you have wiring to the top port, the Fakra type connector, or is it just a blank back?

I have wiring to the 12 pin but not the Fakra port.

FINAL ANSWER TO TRAILER CAMERA ISSUE.

Well folks I have the final answer to question and it is not good. The 2025 Ram 1500 was NEVER designed to support the Trailer Surround view camera system. There might be a 12 pin connector installed and if you are one of the lucky ones it is actually wired up to the wiring harness. It appears that the bumper was cheaper to acquire at the factory with the connector already installed so that is why some trucks came with the 12/1 pin connector but nothing wired to it.
The 2025 computer system is a complete redesign of the prior models, it has new computer models as well as communication networks to support the wireless system upgrades. Good news is that we can now receive system updates via the wireless interface and not have to go into the dealer. Bad news is that this system is so new not all the dealers know much about it. More bad news is the prior model accessories stand a very good chance of NOT working on the 2025 model if they require any computer interface.

Good news is that I have the 12/1 pin connector that just happens to be wired up to the computer network. I purchased the surround view trailer camera kit on eBay for $450, p.n. 68527709AD which happens to be the factory kit p.n., the exact same thing is sold as p.n. 82216421AE in the retail market. The p.n. starting with "8" indicates it is the retail version.
I connected it all up in my truck bed and discovered that all 4 cameras did show up on the Uconnect display under "Aux1" camera. That proved that I had the electrical connectivity between camera and Uconnect system. So I finally installed all the cameras on my trailer and connected them up to the truck via 12 pin and this is what showed up on the display. Even the extending running boards electrical system is a new design.

The greyed out buttons below the rear view image DON'T work so all I will ever see is the large white box in the left window which is supposed to be my trailer with the 4 views around it that are pretty small. The rear view which I like very much will never change. This is the view I am stuck with until Stellantis decides to update the software to give me more functionality.

The installation instruction page shows Uconnect setup steps that I can't view and are NOT part of the software that comes with the 2025 models. I assume that if I could access these steps the white box representing my trailer would shrink down and give me better view of all 4 cameras.

I attached more images of the box I purchased, the 12/1 pin assembly on my bumper, instruction sheet, bullet list of what is included in the "Trailer Technology Group" from build/price showing the trailer surround view option, and additional screen shots showing what I have for cameras.

I also included picture showing which package will get you that 12/1 pin connector assembly that may or may not be wired up to the truck's computer network.

I urge you all to call into Stellantis accessory support folks (800-846-6727, opt. 4,1) to get this surround view trailer camera system fully functional so we can get the front, right, left cameras to display in the larger image and hopefully smaller trailer image in the left window, (just like the truck's surround view camera display). Tell the support folks to create a ticket to get this feature fully functional so Stellantis's engineering team can add it to their list of projects to work on!

I also learned straight from the horse's mouth that during the 2024 transition period the assembly plant had to deal with wiring harness and computer modules that are completely new and often didn't have the software ready to support some of the features being sold and installed. If you read this forum you will hear stories of folks buying a package or truck with certain software based features that didn't work when they accepted the truck and were told they needed a software update that is not yet ready. Well this transition phase era and complications explains what folks are having these issues.

Best we can do for now is to file complaints with customer service 800-992-1997 to get these issues fixed with their engineering team. Good news is that some of their key engineers are coming back to Stellantis to help us out.

Sorry for another novel but lots discovered to share with you all.

Thanks for all of that. Very much appreciate the info. Do you mind saying who the horse's mouth is? I've been working with a couple dealerships, and as you said, the information is thin and sometimes conflicting. I received info from a shop foreman and parts manager that said he had the surround view trailer system working on a 2025, but that he had to purchase some sort of SW update to get it working. Couldn't get more info on that, unfortunately.

I wrote a complaint to Ram about not getting the cameras with truck, and included my "proof" that the guides and advertisements at the time of my order (July 2024) included this as part of the Towing Tech Group. I have a Tungsten, and below is what the Ramtrucks.com configuration tool showed then, and continues to show today. My letter went out a couple of weeks ago, so I'm going to call soon to followup.
I've also asked multiple times here on the forum and dealers as well -- about the single trailer view camera for the digital rearview mirror. I can't get any confirmation on the p/n or if it'll work with the 2025. I was hoping @Jimmy07 or someone like him might be able to confirm.

I agree with you that we need to continue to push Ram / Stellantis on this. (and including the Active Park Assist and the Smart Phone As A Key). I realize some more recent orders and sales clearly did not include the trailer surround camera system on the window sticker or build sheet, but some of us had orders in before the changes were made. We're either due the working feature, or some compensation. I was really looking forward to hooking this up on my trailer.

Somewhere in there there is an opportunity for someone to make a product for those with 25's with the dual input DRVM. Get the same camera thats in the CHMSL, 3D print a housing, wire it up with wire and a connector that fits the 1 pin of the 12/1 connection....

LOL, the dealer I took my truck had the shop foreman come out and talk to me about what he had done. Apparently the foreman added the XAC sales code for a single camera system that the Stellantis tech support person said was a MISTAKE and I should get it removed. The foreman admitted that he was not sure which sales code to add to the build sheet in the computer system so he took best guess and tried to charge me $195 for doing nothing. The tech person also said there is NO code that can be added to get the trailer surround view system completely working as shown in the installation manual. It is my belief after talking techie to the support person that if a dealer is telling you they can make it fully functional then they are full of BS and just trying to get our money or confidence. You might guess I am getting pissed with dealers telling me one thing then reality is proving something entirelly different.

I really don't want to mention the Stellantis tech support person by name, we talked on good terms and I would like to keep it that way. If a solution is developed the person will be calling me back and I will be sure to update this post. In the mean time all you can hope for are the pictures I posted, for me that is good for now.

Option for the single camera solution is to buy a cheap ($35) rear view camera on Amazon Amazon.com, then find a connector that will plug into the bumper connector and see if the camera will work. If it does then you have your solution to use or buy the Mopar solution. Might also check to see if there are any harness wires going into the back of the bumper connectors, you might have the (special) bumper that was installed but not wired up.

I have wiring to the 12 pin but not the Fakra port.
I have both ports and plugs on the back of the truck.

Just picked up a 68527709AD off eBay should be here sometime next week!

Looks like you have the Laramie trim, I have the Tungsten trim when I get my same camera kit I will let you know what happens plugging in the system to my set up. Perhaps I just wasted $400 lol

Does the camera section on your radio screen show AUX 1 and AUX 2 camera soft keys?

That kit you got (68527709AD) will display the camera images, but won’t work properly, the trailer surround camera keys won’t function, and you won’t be able to switch camera views.

Ugh Hopefully they will fix it so it will someday?

They won’t. Have to wait until alfaobd is up and running for the 2025’s to see if it can even be configured for trailer surround view.
