2025 RAM trailer camera

They won’t. Have to wait until alfaobd is up and running for the 2025’s to see if it can even be configured for trailer

They won't.... because they don't want to, or because they can't?

I'm continuing to follow this as well as any info on the single cam for the DRVM.

They won’t because the BCM is not configured for Trailer Surround View, it’s configured for Auxiliary trailer cameras. They’re not going to change that after the fact.
Every single 2025 Tungsten I search for sale that has the Towing Technology Group, there is AUX 1 and AUX 2 camera keys in the radio pics. Not a single one has the Trailer Surround View key in place of AUX 1.
Some of the earlier build window stickers show the trailer surround view camera system as a line item under the towing technology group, but most newer build window stickers that line item isn’t there anymore. It’s almost as if they’re scrubbing this feature as “listed by mistake”, just like they did with the animated lighting feature on the Laramie and rebels.
So, I wouldn’t count on hearing about this feature from them anymore.

What is the diameter of the coax connection inside your single port on the number next to the 12-way trailer connector?
Based on the camera part number that the 2025 digital rear view mirror uses, the 2022 HD Ram Tow mode camera kit (68527599AA) should work, but all the 2025 bumper port coax connection pics I’ve seen it looks smaller than the one on the HD Ram.

Sigh. You're spot on, of course. I ordered in July, but truck was not built until very late Nov / early Dec. My window sticker matches what you show above, unfortunately. I'm still going to pursue the issue with Ram / Stellantis because it was in the Preferred Customer Code Guide available at time of my order. Regardless, I'll keep following to see if there's a way to make this work, even if I end up having to buy the cameras somewhere else.
I'll post some pics of my Uconnect screens - but they match what you said, too.

I just crawled under the truck and took a pic of the coax. It's RG-58. Do they use RG-6 on the HDs? I'm not an expert on the coax. I'm used to using RG-59 in buildings before RG-6 came out. I understand RG-58 is lower impedance and more flexible. The short runs in a vehicle seem to fit for RG-58.
I also took a picture of the connection. It's about 0.345" outside diameter for the circular black plastic connection. Hard to hold a flashlight and the calipers tonight, but I could get a better reading tomorrow if it would help.
Let me know what else I can get you to help! Thank you!

I mean, the surround view camera system (68527709AD) will work if we find out if their is a way to configure for it on our own with alfaobd, just like we do when adding trailer surround view camera system to a pre-2025 that wasn’t factored configured for it. It’s just that Ram won’t reconfigure for it.
The way it is right now for the 2025’s with the AUX 1 and AUX 2 keys with the 12-way, they are configured for the Mopar dual trailer camera kit (82216068AB)

Yes, the HD tow mode camera uses RG-58 coax, and it also uses the same camera as the 2025’s.
The only thing is, I think the outside diameter of your metal coax ring is much smaller.
Mine is about .3125” diameter. Pic of my port below, and what the connector looks like that plugs into the port:

This end unscrews from an RP-TNC coax connection, so I suppose a different coax “adapter” can be swapped on to plug into the 2025 port.

I'll double check the sizes of my connector in the daylight tomorrow. I'll try to get pictures of the calipers so you can see exactly what I'm mic'ing. Looks like the coax cable for the camera has a male RP-TNC on the end of it, that screws into the adapter. The adapter is just a push on, with the blue o-rings sealing on the inside of the outer ring on the truck? What is the diameter of the adapter next to the 0-rings? If it's a little less than 0.345" then it's in the ballpark.
If it looks like I'm close, where can I find an adapter like that?

Be gentle about my attempt to show the calipers as I took measurements. It's a trick to hold a light, hold the spring loaded door open, hold the phone/camera, and hold the calipers. But it's better than trying to explain in words. The measurements are 0.3125" for the outside of the connector (first pic), and about 0.16" for the diameter of the metal barrel (second pic).
As I was struggling to get my calipers inside the big connector to just take the measurements, it struck me that the picture of what you sent might be hard pressed to fit in there. The RP-TNC connector is pretty deep inside this thing.

I found 68527599AA, and the connector looks like what you have shown. I think this is for the HD, tho.

If/when you get a chance, can you tell me the diameter of your connector between the two blue o-rings?

Ok, those two sizes on yours are identical to a regular fakra male connector.
It’s almost as if your port is designed to accept a plug that keys in and seals around the whole diameter of the port.

Is the connector on the back of the 2025's different than previous years? The outside of either big round plug is just shy of 1.5" (the area you have circled in red above).

Does Mopar make a DRVM trailer camera for the 1500? All I seem to be able to find is 68527599AA for the HDs.

Any suggestions on what my next steps might be?

So I received my kit from eBay, and here is my observations and professional take:
These cameras are not "high quality" when compared to the stock 2025 Cameras on the truck.
Secondly the system is set up with its own "brain box" that creates its own 360 degree vision system that then superposes itself as a single camera then displaying as an AUX camera.
Considering from my research RAM is going to a "wireless" camera system that would integrate to the the UConnect system, and thus not yet parts of the programing and availability in the currently available programing.
So the 12 pin lower connector is AUX 1 of the current firmware system and creates a combined signal of 4 cameras into one image sent through the AUX 1 camera (Meaning in its current iteration even though it shows all the cameras you have no control other than the 360 degree "view" in AUX 1 camera. I will post images of what is displayed.
So it seems that the 12 pin AUX 1 camera system is just a carry over from previous generations and will really be of no use or ever implemented unless they can program the UConnect system to utilize that system. AUX 2 (The single video connection) perhaps with some modifications allow you to at lest use a rear camera that you can mount on the back of a trailer for "rear view" ability.
My gut thinks they never had a plan for this option for 360 degree view on these newer trucks, unless there was some sort of update to the firmware of the Uconnect system.

Stay tuned, I am researching and trying some things out, see my previous post for my findings.

No it will display on AUX 1 *** I posted the image in a prev post. The BOX that all the cameras connect to is essentially a signal combiner that combines all 4 cameras into a single image and then is transferred to the truck as a single video image. The software isn't in the current 2025 UConnect system to allow the user to "pick" the camera views. So the video "quality" is greatly degraded. So the best we can hope for is the ability to gain access to the two available video channels. I will do some work on seeing if I can figure out AUX 1's signal input to allow the use of a single camera on that 12 pin port, and then work on the ability to connect a single camera to the AUX 2 port (top). I might be able to modify the connection point for the cameras I have with the kit I got, to allow the use of at least a rear camera to function. However as it stands even with the 12 pin combining camera system, I still can't get it to display in the electronic rearview mirror. RAM missed the mark on this one!

Yep. Like I said before, these 2025’s aren’t programmed for trailer surround view camera system. It’s programmed for the 82216068AB auxiliary trailer cameras.
This behavior of the trailer surround view camera system on any truck programmed for auxiliary trailer cameras is well documented since they came out in 2022.
That surround view camera system “CAN” work on your truck, just like it can be made to work on previous model year trucks that weren’t programmed for it, but have to wait for alfaobd support to programming for it.

Notice the video distortion with this view, its because the system takes 4 video channels and combines them to output to a single channel on the 25 models and output to the AUX 1 channel. This is a clear result of "reusing" hardware from previous models. They should have made a new connector with just two video input jacks (2 upper pin connections, and deleted the 12 pin connector (12 pin connector utilizes power and signal "switching".).

I doubt that it will work, based on the how the UConnect system is "programed" to work, 2 AUX cams. Result of both programing, hardware and the reuse of the video connector on the bumper from prev generations.

Do you have a source to get the pin out of that 12 pin connector? Diagram of what pins do what? That may be helpful in interfacing to it.

You’re confusing/mixing terms when you say aux 1, 12 pin, and aux 2 port. Aux 1 and aux 2 are both run through the 12 pin.
The top port is simply the “tow mode camera port” for the DRVM.

The resolution that you see won’t get any better once configured correctly, because even though the cameras are digital, they are ultimately using the analog input on the radio screen. Trust me, I know all about how these kits work, as I have the trailer surround view camera system retrofitted in my 2017 Ram.

Good point! Thanks for clearing that up! The more you know the more you know. So that top port is useless? What a cluster F*** RAM did for this.

DRVM? Sorry catch me up.
