2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

The rain sensitive wipers sound like they’re working as they should.
The intermittent setting is actually the sensitivity setting… as in… how much rain is it gonna allow before wiping.
How much rain it sees at once on the windshield depends on how much it’s raining and vehicle speed.

I've had rain sensitive wipers since '08 in multiple cars. The RAM ones are on crack.

Respectfully, I think at least my truck is not working correctly. This is my third Ram, and I've driven countless rentals throughout my work life, and I'm fairly used to differences between vehicles. But the way the wipers work in this truck is different from anything I've experienced. Just a few days ago I drove a couple of hundred miles on interstate during intermittent rain showers. At one point, my windshield was totally soaked, and yet the wipers did not come on. I use Rain-X and usually it's not an issue for me, but my wife commented on it, so I manually turned the knob and then back. It started working normally.
Then the rain stopped, the windshield was dry, and the wipers were still working continuously - as if on low (not even intermittent). I tried to move the switch to low and back to intermittent, and they didn't stop. I moved it to high and back, and it didn't change. I moved it to OFF (they stopped) and then back to intermittent and they came right back on. Eventually, they did go off.
There were other times when they seemed to work what I'd consider to be normally. As the rain slowed down, the intermittent delay increased. I just never know when it's going to work normally or when it's going to decide it needs to run continuously.

Maybe there is an issue. I know the new versions generally use a sensor that’s housed in the rear view mirror enclosure so, that area not being clean can cause issues🤷🏻‍♂️

Exactly - I agree. I was trying to see how the windshield looked behind the rear view mirror. The other day I swear my window was dry. The hood didn't even have a drop on it (the ceramic coating is amazing).
It's a weird issue. And being an intermittent issue.... it's even harder to figure out what it might be. I thought it might be a sensor.

True. I'll try to grow a pair and pull up a little harder on it....
Finally took two seconds to look at this. It pried up very easily and the wiring harness is very neat to a single multiplug. My problem was quickly obvious. There are supposed to be 6 clips, and one of mine is missing.

Edit: Thought about sending Mark Dodge a note asking if they'd just send me one -- to try to save the hassle at the local dealer.

Awesome! Did it fall into the door panel?

That's a good question! I looked to see if that happened. The area under the panel is pretty well self-contained, like a little tub. There's a small slot against the door panel where it *might* get through, but it'd be a trick to happen by chance. I checked everywhere I could, short of pulling the door panel off. I have a pry tool for the fasteners, but that's never a pretty job.

No, it’s not. Maybe your dealer has one laying around. If not, maybe junk yard. eBay/Amazon thereafter.
That would be my order

Definitely curious to see if the proximity wake-up works.
And it’d be a hell of a coincidence if two batteries in the same truck had bad cells. Maybe buy a lottery ticket! :)

Yep. Proximity Wake Up works like a champ now.

And NOW I realize that PWU did work when I first got the truck but stopped working pretty early on.

My theory is that one battery is responsible for that and it died 2 or 3 weeks ago. Then, that battery being dead put some kind of strain on the other battery that eventually killed it, too.

So, note to self: If PWU stops working, take it as a possible early warning sign that one of the batteries is dead and check it.

Thanks! Fortunately, I didn't need that help.

- Can't figure out the logic behind approach lights. They seem to work once in a while.

The battery indicator is confusing. When I turn on the car, the indicator shows close to Low. When the car starts running, the indicator is close to the middle point, but never close to High. That is on a fresh truck, should not the battery read close to High all the time?

I would check your battery or batteries. Does yours have a smaller backup battery like my Limited does? Probably, but I'm not assuming.

Check them both with a voltmeter (truck turned Off) and make sure they are both at 12V.

The Voltmeter on the dash only shows one reading (on mine, too). Not sure which battery it's supposed to be telling me about.

Batteries should generally be 12V when the truck is off and 13 - 14V when the engine is running.

@StuartV - Did the dealer say that you could have done something to spot the problem early on? I am going to the dealership for my first oil change and want to inquire.

(Btw, nice seeing you here, friend!)

They didn't say anything at all except that both batteries had bad cells.

My own powers of deduction suggest that PWU not working is an early warning sign of a battery being bad.

I debated on whether I should go with Line-X. Decided against it for now. The way I see it, BedRug is a reversible decision. Line-X is not.

Forgot to add... 23.5 mpg over 1000 highway miles. Smile on my face. Zero stops on the way to my destination. Taco was barely 19 mpg on a good day on the same trip.

I've had Line-X and never had a regret. I'd get that, regardless, if your truck doesn't have the factory spray-in liner.

You're going to be putting wet stuff in the back as a regular thing. Personally, I would not get a bedrug, but that's just me. I have been very happy with the $40 Home Depot recycled asphalt door mats I've been using (one end trimmed to fit).

Is your 23.5 MPG report based on a hand calculation, or the dash display?

Mine is already showing to be consistent with my previous RAMs. I.e. the dash display is consistently optimistic. It's almost always around 1 MPG higher than a hand calculation shows, with (so far) a max discrepancy of 1.3 MPG (truck said 18.1 when hand calculation said 16.8). The closest it has been is off by 0.2 MPG, but that was only one time, and still the truck was high compared to reality.

That is based on 8 fill-ups, so far. Almost 2800 miles on the truck now.

My best single tank mileage, so far, has been 18.5 on the HO motor. My best ever on my '19 Hemi/eTorque was 20.0.

My lifetime average on the '19 was 14.1 MPG.

My current average on the '25 is 16.1. But, it has been an unusual month of travel for me since I got the truck on May 29. I've done 4 long highway road trips and very little local driving. My lifetime average will definitely be coming down when my travel schedule goes back to "normalcy".

@StuartV - Big battery is 12.47V. Small - 11.4V. I haven't really driven the truck after coming back from FL, so it just sits outside for now.

Mileage - as shown by the onboard computer and roughly calculated based on the distance between me and my friend's house. I am repeating the same trip soon and we'll do more precise calculation. Look, anything over 19 mpg is a win. Even 19 mpg will be a win given the power and the comfort.

Bed Rug handles wet stuff pretty well. Also, I have a rubber mat on top of the Bed Rug. All my wet stuff goes into bins.

Bedrugs are fine with wet stuff. No mold. Only problem is you need to keep tanto open for it to dry. Otherwise, fantastic and awesome on the knees. Oh, and keep vacuumed or sliding in Sheetrock will scratch on a rock or stick.
All hurricanes have the 2 batteries.

@RamTruckMan - I may do the best of both worlds and get Line-X and Bed Rug. Keeping the options open. Bakflip MX4 should keep things dry and an RC Mat will go either on top of BedRug or Line-X.

I dunno if that’ll work. The bedrug is held in place with sticky back Velcro and the line-x won’t allow adhesion very well… just something to think about

BedRug offers a solution for spay-on beds, it is an adhesive kit you'd get separately.

Thank you!!!! I may get a bed rug now over my factory spray in… I didn’t know…

@RamTruckMan - you can't compare CT to GA. I got experience in both states.

In GA, you can open it up nicely, but I don't want to get into a habit and tempt highway patrol when I am out of state. Folks do 85-90 mph regularly, and it is super easy in a SST.
Yea, I lived in GA for a while. used to run I16 from Macon to Statesboro where I went to school and it was pretty much wide open. I almost got caught once but the highway patol got stuck doing a turn around in the median. LOL
