2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

This is the 2025 thread so I was thinking Hurricane's (and I also hate the stop/start BS).

You're right. My bad!! It was late! I was sick! There was a fire! The cops were bangin' on my door!

LOL!

I do not know (yet) exactly how the Stop/Start on my '25 works compared to how it (and eTorque) worked on my old Hemi.
 
I've had Stop/Start on vehicles that was annoying AF.

The Stop/Start on my g/f's Mercedes doesn't bother me at all.

Now, the Stop/Start on my '25 doesn't bother me, either. The only time I turn it off is if I'm at a light where I know I'm going to want to punch it hard as soon as the light turns green. Then, I'll turn it off while I'm sitting there, so I don't lose that split-second that it takes to start the engine before I can start moving. lol!

It’s annoying for me for non-light situations, e.g. waiting to make a left out of a parking lot, pulling up to back into a parking space/driveway, etc.

It’s not a rough start; in fact, it’s rather smooth. It’s simple the matter that it prevents immediate acceleration.

I agree with @RedFred, for the minimal fuel saving, there’s enough other times it activates that makes it annoying.
 
I DO agree that they should make it a setting that allows you to disable it permanently.

But, it's probably some EPA/DOT thing related to not allowing it to be permanently made to not meet the fuel economy numbers it was tested to produce.

While there isn't a direct law mandating automakers to use stop-start systems, they became widespread due to fuel economy credits granted under federal emissions rules. These credits incentivize automakers to adopt technologies like stop-start that improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, even if those benefits aren't fully captured in standard testing procedures

That's it, the EPA gives out credits for manufacturers when they implement the auto start stop. But change is coming. The EPA, thanks to the current administration in the White House right now, is proposing a rollback of the federal incentives that incentivizes the manufacturers to include the auto start stop system. So with no incentives, maybe the manufacturers make it easier to disable it and/or don't include it in future new cars at all.

Nah. It doesn’t turn away customers and they can charge for it. I doubt it’ll go away.
There are people who do like it. The ability to say XX miles per gallon is less about EPA and more about wallets. And they’re allowed to fluffy calculate the fuel saving for using it.
I think it’s here to stay.

If it was an option, then yes they can make money on it. But adding it to every vehicles and then having to price their vehicles to remain competitively priced against their competitors, chances are the system could get cut to make base prices more attractive. Making it an option, could be a possibility, but my guess is it will slowly start to not show up in new models.
 
Some GMs made during covid didn't have it, it's listed on the window sticker as "deleted" and IIRC, a $50 credit.

It would be far more useful to ME if I could have my ventilated seat come on on High every time I start the truck.

It comes on on Low if it's warm out. If it's not warm, then it doesn't come on at all. I wish it would either come on wherever I had it when I turned the truck on last, or let me set it so that when it comes on automatically, it comes on on High, instead of always only on Low.

It takes me about 3 button taps to do that every time I start my truck.

The Auto Stop/Start button is right by the engine start button. If I cared and hit it every time I started the truck, that would still be way less "work".
