2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

tuner for hurricane -- burger tuning. Makes it fly faster.
Level of technical know-how needed?
I do all my own mechanical work short of warranty work. I’m a retired engineer,
So have some background, but not with engine tuners. HP increase is interesting but really.. the HO is already fast as hell. Better mileage? Now that’d be nice.

I thought someone posted that they might announce soon that the 6.4 is coming to the 1500? Regardless, the 6.4 was just a suggestion on my part to bring something different to the table that might draw more interest than the same old 5.7. I just purchased my 2025 last September, so for me, I have no plans to get rid of it anytime soon.

Ram has only been posting the 5.7 coming back. I saw on the Ram truck site that they announced a Black Express Edition but Ive seen nothing else

It's very easy to set up -- just a few wires. I think the directions are on a youtube video on the burger turning website after selecting Ram for your vehicle. Take a look.

But what about MPG gains… Are there any? Are they real?

I just like power. I don't know anything about MPG gains -- don't really care. That was Riding Deacon in an earlier post about him getting good mileage after the JB4 tune in post #2078. I don't know what it was before. You would have to clarify with him for clarification.

We will find out monday I hope that tictoc video that badge means its a scatpack 1500 with the srt 6.4.
That would be cool, but overall, if I want Hellcat type performance, I’d buy a sports car.
Plus, this is a truck 🛻. I could get a TRX or Raptor If I want all that🤷🏻‍♂️

Well it was my suggestion that they should offer 6.4. Wether or not they are doesn't change my opinion. Bringing back the same 5.7L is nothing to get excited about and kind of a let down. At this point, I wouldn't even consider a new truck with the 5.7L.

I doubt there are any real world MPG gains. MPG's are so important to car manufacturers, I doubt they leave any mpg's at the table that can be so easily obtained with a simple tune.

I have been running the JB4 Tuner since March in my Tungsten and like it very much. You can really feel the difference. It had zero impact on my MPG. I might be wrong, but from what I can tell it tricks the engine into increasing the boost from the turbo's so during normal driving you are not in a boosted condition - hence no change in MPG's. It only seems to change things once you are running it wide open.

My 2025 1500 Bighorn sometimes does a weird downshift when leaving the house and going down a hill. I’ve never had that with 2017 and 2019 Rams with hemis

My 2025 went in for service last week, Ram agreed my passenger seat cover had a defect, and they loaned me a 2024 hemi while it was in the shop for a few days. While it was kind of fun to hear the hemi sound again for a minute, I missed my 3.0 right away. I’m not sure how to explain it best, but it is just a better power plant all around. This was right when Ram was announcing the comeback of the hemi and I honestly feel badly for those who ignorantly choose sound over performance without trying the new motor. Hopefully the 3.0 proves reliable, I know I ignorantly chose an engine that has little history, but does have an extended warranty.

Totally agree. All the complaints were about the engine sound… I get that but I’d rather have the performance and capability. And I certainly wouldn’t go Hemi without the eTorque but, that’s still less powerful and more gas greedy. I just don’t see the appeal
its a hemi bro! lol and it sounds good! *sarcasm*

Maybe a little comfort knowing that the 3.0 Hurricane was first introduced in the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer so its been out there for several model years before they started putting them in RAM's. One of the major issues they initially had was faulty thermostats that would get stuck closed and cause the engines to overheat. Other then that, they have been fairly reliable. Mine has been trouble free since Sept 2024.

I posted this on FB... but I thought I would ask here as well.

Question/Theory for you all about all these dead battery issues. I see a lot of folks saying you need to keep the key fobs away from the trucks when they are off as the fobs keep contacting/waking up the truck. I have not had an issue with my battery to date…

So, my question/theory is this… for all the folks with the dead batteries, did your truck come equipped with proximity approach lights and was this feature working for you? From my understanding the feature is supposed to turn on the puddle lights when you approach the truck with a key fob on you. This has never worked on my truck. I have heard folks talk about the key fobs blinking when trying to contact/wake up the truck. I have tried approaching/walking around my truck several times… and the only time the red-light blinks is when I press any of the fob buttons. Could the dead battery issue be caused by the proximity approach feature on trucks that it was working on? So, I guess I am asking, if you had the dead battery issue, did you have the proximity approach lights and was this feature working for you? And for those who have not had a dead battery same question… Just a thought. Here is what my searches have told me the feature is supposed to do. (This is not working on my truck):

The term "RAM proximity approach lights" primarily refers to a feature on some Ram trucks where the lights automatically illuminate when you approach the vehicle with the key fob. This enhances visibility and provides convenience when approaching your truck in the dark.
Here's a breakdown of the features:
    • Automatic activation: The lights turn on when the vehicle detects your key fob within a certain range.
    • Enhanced visibility: The lights illuminate the ground and the sides of the truck, making it easier to see and navigate in dimly lit areas.
    • Passive entry integration: The system often works in conjunction with passive keyless entry, automatically unlocking the doors as you get close.
