2025 Ram 1500 Current Owners - Discussion, Feedback, and Problems

A desperate attempt to bring in former or new customers.
I am glad that, finally, "an American" leadership that understands the market needs and love of gas-guzzling V8s is in charge of RAM. I am serious.
I detested Carlos Tovariss and the rest of the idiots who were making decisions for CDJR products. They have no clue about what we need or think we need.

Truck makers like RAM (purely American) need to be owned by folks who understand our likes/dislikes.

I miss my Hemi, would I buy it again -- probably.
My SO Hurcaine engine is much more "peppier" than the Hemi. Do I like it more? by a fraction. Hate no dipstick!!

They need to focus on dismal quality and reliability issues with a half-*** remodeled truck.
See, that’s my basic point.
I think all the people who are bemoaning the loss of the Hemi wouldn’t be nearly as disappointed if all (or even most of) the bugs were worked out before RAM started sales. I think a lot of people unconsciously equate the quality issues to the new engine.

They need to just put the 6.4 liter hemi option in the 1500. It would give Ram 1500 buyers an option they never had before and give everyone, including the guys that say they will never buy a 1500 without a v8, something to be excited about. Anything less than that or an all new more powerful 5.7, will be a disappointment. Message to Stellantis... Wake UP! If you want to keep or win over customers, give us something to be excited over!! The same old same old won't do it.

Its all about the hemi sound and feel. The 2025 so quiet and smooth you don't even realize how much faster it is.When you drive it fast mpg don't change. Hemi you could see the gas gauge move.

I believe they will be announcing the 6.4 Hemi in the 1500 for 2026 as soon as 6.8.25 according to a knowledgeable sales manager I trust.

The 6.4 doesn't make any power, I don't see that as an upgrade. 410hp vs 395hp and 429tq vs 410tq, you're not going to feel that.

Now, if they put the car 6.4 in the truck, that's different but I'm guessing the Tq in the car 6.4 doesn't suit a 5500-6500K truck well

The 6.4 in a Ram is tuned more for fuel economy in a truck. At this point, I'll take any power improvement over the old 5.7 but they could easily tune the 6.4 to put out some more power, which I am all for.

Yeah but we know they aren't or can't tune it for more power

Like I said, I'll take what ever improvement I can get over the old 5.7. If you don't want the 6.4 option, you should write a letter to Stellantis. I'll take the 6.4 over the 5.7.

Another thing to consider about the return of the 5.7 hemi, is that it will only be available with the e-torque system. To be honest, the e-torque system is something that kept me from buying a new truck earlier. I did not want the e-torque system in my truck. So this makes the return of the 5.7 hemi even less appealing to me. I want a V8 option, but the old 5.7 with e-torque doesn't really check many boxes for me.

Interesting. I found the 5.7 underpowered/slow outta the gate without the eTorque and my 19 had the 5.7 eTorque.

I typically drive my truck about 25k miles a year. So I end up keeping it long after the warranty is up. I don't trust the e-torque system to not be problematic or expensive to repair down the road. If it wasn't for that, it wouldn't bother me much. And as an example, when I was picking up 2025, I was talking to a guy at the dealership who was picking his truck up from service for a $4800 e-torque repair.

I had an '09 Hemi (no eTorque, obviously) and a '19 w/eTorque. Both crewcab, 4x4, with 3.92 rear end.

I found them both to be underpowered/slow ... compared to other full-size trucks.

Don't get me wrong. The Hemi is not terrible. But, it's still kinda in last place compared to everybody else's top motor and compared to either SST motor.

Saying "well, it's better than a Pentastar" really isn't saying much.

Bringing it back unchanged seems like a big mistake. I think they will sell a LOT less of them than they probably think they will. I've seen it too many times in my many years riding motorcycles and watching that industry. People SAY how much they would really love a <insert retro vehicle here>. Somebody finally makes exactly what everybody SAID they would love. About a tenth of those people actually buy one. Because, in the end, they say they would LOVE an XYZ, but what they really mean is that they would love a modernized XYZ.

And that's all the Hemi is, now. A throwback. A retro exercise. A bone for the few people that are actually loyal to Mopar and V8s - loyal enough to actually spend real money on a retro engine. I don't think it will be that many.

Has anyone with a night edition replaced their lug nuts with black ones? If so, what did you use? It’s terribly cheap of RAM to not use black nuts on that package 😕

While I'm not against bringing the HEMI back....for whatever reasons, including "nostalgia and feel", all I can offer here is that with almost 20,000 (s)miles on my HO Longhorn, I would NEVER go back to a HEMI. Had one......it was nice, sounded nice, but it's really a slouch when compared with the power, feel and speed of the HO. I was one of those "am I making the right move going from a HEMI to a SST" guy....but I have never looked back. I even installed the JB4 tuner to my truck and I'm telling you, it's really hard to NOT mash the accelerator every time I get in the truck. And on the highway, with A/C on and up and down hills in New England, I'm able to get between 20 and 21MPG and that's at 70-75 MPH. Love this truck, especially the Longhorn interior. I've had no electrical/software gremlins (yet!!!) or mechanical issue, and I do my own oil and filter change.......in a suit....that's how easy it is.....on a lift. The only thing I would like to see is a little better mileage with the 3.0L straight six.....otherwise I would not change a thing. Might even trade up to a Tungsten model....if they change the color of the leather seats. I can not use a work truck with cream colored leather seats.....not with all the stuff I use my truck for. I trust Stellantis knows what they are doing. For all you naysayers about the SST; drive one......your impression will change....for the better. Wheels down!!!

You're in luck, the 26MY Tungsten has a black interior (at least the seats, headliner might still be light).

What mileage were you getting before the JB4?

So FAR, I'm not worried about trying to get more power. But, if the JB4 would improve my mileage...
