2024 ram push to start not turning off draining battery

Did you ever get a clear answer on this I’m having the same issue. This is my radio after the truck has been off for over a half an hour. At the dealership now and won’t recreate the issue.

Hello all, new to this forum, first post.

Just purchased a 2024 ram big horn quad cab. Had it for about 5 days, no issues, then one day I went to start it, dead battery. Jumped it and brought it to dealer, they diagnosed it as a bad battery. ok. Two days later, I had the same issue, dead battery. Called dealer told them about it. I jumped it again, drive it for two hours that day, restarted no problem. That night I noticed that the push to start screen in the middle of the gauge cluster was not going out after I shut the truck off, locked the truck and walked away. I came back two hours later and the screen was still lit, and every so often it would shut off then immediately come back. The little lights around the uconnect were on as well. This was with the key fob in my pocket and back in the house about 50 feet away. Brought it back to the dealer. It have been there for 5 days and they say they cannot replicate it. once the vehicle is turned off there is no drain on battery. Recent searches here come up with similar issues but from the 2019-2020 timeframe, nothing newer. See photo of dash at night after letting it sit for over an hour.

Any opinions here? thoughts? Ami dong something wrong when turning off/exiting the vehicle? thanks

Exact same issue, three days after purchase and parked for overnight battery drained. At dealership now, will see what they can find.

There is already a TSB for those with a software update. Supposedly an OTA update was failing causing the system to stay powered up u til battery died.

Just turned in my 2024 Ram 1500 Laramie due to battery draining and check engine light coming on while driving. We shall see what the dealership finds. I informed them about the issue but they acted like it was the first time hearing about it.

Heard back from the dealer and they stated I had a bad alternator and the battery is holding charge. No mention of the app or any bulletins so we shall see once they get it fixed in a few days.

I'm having the same issues as everyone else in here. Leased a new 2024 1500 Big Horn three weeks ago and this is the second time I've taken it back to the dealer. They can't replicate the problem, and therefore refuse to do anything other than replace the battery and give it back to me. It's amazing that a dealer sells a product and acknowledges there's a problem, but refuses any accountability for it.

very much interested in the outcome. I have exactly the same problem. After a new battery has been installed 10 days ago, my truck had to go back to the dealer on Saturday, still there. Got a message today "Something is draining the battery, we are working with Chrysler to solve the issue...". I am furious!!!! brand new truck.
According to this thread it seems that there are dozens of trucks that are affected by this problem (not all 2024 which is strange...) I am pretty certain that Chrysler is going to fight us tooth and nail in order not to give in to any "lemon law" which requires them to either give you your money back or a new truck (really?????? after what I am going through I am NOT going to buy another Ram, that's for sure!).

I am in Aust and have had mine go dead flat eight times now with no answer. Get it towed to dealer and they can’t find anything. Obviously it’s a major problem but they all play dumb!!

Update after a few months: Deleted app solved all of my dead battery issues. Everything has been perfect since. If you're still having issues and haven't deleted that from your phone, do it tonight. Best of luck

I bought my 2024 Laramie 12/28/2023. The only issue I have had was the radio not keeping the volume setting for phone calls. Until yesterday. Went to go to church and it made a loud popping noise in the 12” display and would not start. I have read through this post. I don’t see any recent updates. Can anyone tell me if there has been a fix?

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 rebel and it does exactly the same thing. We don’t have Uconnect. The RF hub was replaced a year ago due to the 3rd brake light leak and faulty back window leaking.

Fast forward to now, about a year later to the day, we went out of town for 5 days and came back to the battery dead. Jumped the battery and the CEL went away after it cycled. There were stored codes from the battery dying that we cleared. Next day we noticed the press to start was not going off on the dash and the truck would die overnight. Bought another new battery, same thing but worse. Every dash light lit up, service shifter came on, windshield wipers and all (similar to last year). We did a hard reset and same thing dead battery. We took it to the dealership again. They had it the last 3 weeks. They claim it’s the battery, but we just replaced it 2 days prior. Bring another battery and they said they think there was a parasitic draw (very vague). They said they reset and updated all of the modules and it’s good to go.

We get home from the dealership 30 minutes later and you’ll never guess….press to start on dash is lit up and it’s doing the same thing all over again. Ram cares won’t listen and the dealership has yet to call back. Over $900 plus another battery and it’s not fixed. I know it’s not a brand new truck but still there are several 2019 and up owners dealing with the same thing with no fix. At least it looks pretty being an expensive driveway ornament

F24 is the fuse for the cluster, push to start switch, and radio frequency hub, but that doesn’t mean they are the cause of the issue.
This behavior everyone is seeing is the result of something keeping all the modules on the canbus that are powered by constant battery power awake (which is drawing about 4.5 amps when they are all awake). The standard behavior is- the cluster, start button, and controls on the sides of the radio light up for about a minute, shut of for about 15 seconds, light up again for about a minute, and constantly repeat this cycle. If you are sitting in the truck when this is going on, you’ll also hear a faint popping noise from the front speakers right before they are going to light up.

The first thing I would do is look up above the brake pedal and see if there is a gps device plugged into the obd port, into the wiring behind the obd port, or any other wiring harnesses that don’t look like they are part of the factory wiring. It seems like more and more dealers are installing these on all their inventory, and some of them can keep the bus awake.
Otherwise, you’ll have to do an amp draw test, not by pulling fuses, but rather, by disconnecting modules from the canbus junction blocks until you find the offending module.

Sadly this is also the fix for FORD's battery drain issues as well. Same reports on those forums form users removing everything from the app which means the vehicle no longer sends updates constantly and doesn't go into what FORD calls "deep sleep".

Luckily I have not had any issues with my new to me '22, but I also have the 8" setup in a Longhorn which is part of the reason I bought it vs. the 12" disaster.

Just read through his whole thread. Is anyone having battery issues again or still? I bought a 2024 Rebel 2500 last December. In January I started having the dead battery issue. Truck was to the dealer twice, was told to delete the app, did so and it went from Febuary until just recently with no issues. Even had a 8 day stay at the airport parking garage, I was worried I would come back to a dead battery, but started right up no problem.

Then two weeks ago, dead battery again from sitting overnight. I was able to start it with the jump pack I bought specifically for my brand new truck because of these issues, but I wrote it off because I just had just gotten it back from service, and a trailer towing/blind spot screen freezing issue. Then today, dead battery once again. This time the jump pack would not do the trick. Had to break out the big battery charger and get it going. Just drove the thing less than 12 hours before!

It is currently at the dealership once again. I love the truck, the way it drives and tows, but for a truck that is right at a year old and just over 10k miles, I'm a little disappointed that it's not reliable.

I think my problem was the USB cable staying connected, which normally is not a problem. I had the dead battery issue but noticed by chance that the plugged in USB was dangling on floor as always but this time the other end was touching a metal plate that I had in the passenger front. In my case, I unplugged the USB and haven't noticed the issue repeat.

I did not sign up for the monthly Ram App (it was free on my F-150) Is my truck still trying to communicate? I've had two discharges but they took 2+ weeks of truck not being driven! Edit to add I just (12/23/2024) deleted the RAM app on my phone.
