2022 Orders

All I heard was: "Close your eyes and throw a dart at a board and choose Ram it's even, GMC if it's odd, and Ford if you miss the board completely." 🤣

At the end of the day, all these trucks are good, and it really comes down to personal preference and the best fit for your particular use case.
Absolutely, And also, you know, if you feel shafted watching people with VINs thousands of trucks higher than yours get built while you're over here like...

So I tried calling around on the new GMC Sierra just to see. I am hearing from MSRP to a $10k mark up locally. I think I will stick with my Ram at invoice.

got to hit them with the, "I have a ram 1500 order, what can you do to make me buy yours instead?"
I started a few off like that. Most of them played the "time are hard right now" angle right back at me
For me, best part about the $10k mark up, was I laughed and said "Are you serious?" he then hung up on me. Classy.

Yep a lot of dealers will get it eventually. I called a local Ram dealer and they told me every ram on their lot was 2k over msrp. I respected that they at least told me before I drove there.

I had to call 7 dealerships in Austin and San Antonio before I found one to work with. I get X Plan (Ford), FCA Affiliate (CDJR), and GM Supplier (Chevy/GMC) pricing through my company. Ancira in Boerne will do GM Supplier pricing on the Sierra Denali Ultimate, which is who I ended up doing my reservation through. I am not aware of any GMC dealerships like Mark Dodge though, so I think if you want to maximize how far your $ will go, they have no true competitors with the other brands for discounted price without a discount program.

Can I ask for some opinions? I'm waiting on a truck order like most others. In need of a truck for a trip and general use in the meantime. Used prices are stupid and 2021 bighorns have the best incentives. Hoping to.break close to even if I sell the 2021 when my 2022 order arrives. This truck has MSRP of 54,370. Discounted by 6,755 for a final price of 47,620. Decent to good deal?

It's not a bad deal. I would also ask to see if you can get an additional $1500 discount on ramtrucks.com.

Reach out to them now to at least show your interest and make sure its available.

If I were you, I'd go to a site like Shift, Carvana, Vroom, or KBB, and figure out what they would pay you for the truck you are interested in buying. That is, use the VIN of the truck, guesstimate how many miles you will have driven by the time you are ready to trade in, and see what they say. If you can get that truck out the door for say $50k (inclusive of taxes, title, fees, etc.), and one of those sites is wiling to give you $52k for the same vehicle with 6,000 miles, it may be a good move.

At this point in time, and for your particular situation, the "goodness" of the price you pay will be judged by what you can resell it for in a few months.

If I had been told the same thing (and intially I was told by several dealerships that any special ordered Sierra would come with a markup), I'd have passed. But, I know a guy (hint: @PCHokie), who was able to find a dealership that isn't in the business of shafting people. There are a handful of good dealers out there (MD being a great example for Ram), you just have to find them... which is much harder than it sounds.

Quick... someone else post so it doesn't look like all I do is sit around on this forum waiting to post... I promise, I've been up since about 6am writing a motion to dismiss that is due today because a new client came to me at the 11th hour (literally, dude called me at 5:30am) after firing his prior counsel for being a jackwagon. The motion is done, now, hence my renewed freedom to post.

But, seriously, somebody say something so I don't look like a loser.

It already includes that 1500.
Another option, as far as retail value, maybe a laramie or rebel trim. I know they cost more, but they get better resale value.

I have my bare bones rebel, and I'm going to plan on holding on to it until this supply issue goes away, and the electric ram is available in a couple years.

When I first started looking, I really wanted a Denali. I went in to JN Chevrolet in Honolulu in April. They wanted 10K to place the order. Not down, it was an admin fee. Think of the wait I would of had if I had went with what I wanted. Then found Ram, went to 2 dealers both would go msrp, so I ordered. Then I found the forum and affiliate pricing. The dealer I ordered said they would honor the affiliate pricing, that was a 17K swing in my favor.
Great that you guys found a good dealer, not the case in Hawaii, one wanted 10K, the other never returned the email. Now that I have posted, you probably have posted 4 more times. I type slow. Laters
