2021 eco diesel gas mileage

Unfortunately this TSB has been a bit cryptic. Normally they specifically show a date range of affected vehicles, and so far I haven't seen that within this TSB. The only document I've seen is dated early December 2020, so one would assume any truck after that date is fine, but that may not be the case either depending on when/how the control module suppliers start applying the updates to parts in production, and whether they had excess parts on the shelf already with old software.

If you are experiencing issues named in the TSB, take it to your dealer and ask if your truck needs updated. Can't hurt to try.

Yeah I'll just ask the dealer what TSB's affect my vin next time I'm there and list that one specifically. Thank you!

I think its a TSB update like other have mentioned. There is absolutely zero pedal delay or lag anywhere. It drives like my full delete and tuned Cummins. My buddy test drove a used 20 Eco and he said the lag and delay was so bad he walked from it. He drove mine and was blown away at how snappy and powerful it was.

For comparison, my rebel with 3.92s is currently getting just over 19mog city and 26 highway and it only has 150 km on it, but it’s getting better every time I drive it.

First time filling up locally after using the truck for normal driving. Around town, commuting, camping, etc sort of 'normal use' I got 23.96 MPG. 675 miles until the fuel light came on and she took 29 gallons which means when the fuel light comes on, I have roughly 90 miles left before the truck is bone dry. The fuel gauge read 50 miles remaining so there's a 2 gallon 'reserve' for zero. I'll push it further next time and maybe put a gallon of diesel in the bed just in case but I really want to get my 'real' tank range which appears to have been closer to 800 miles before it was truly empty.

I think MPG will improve but 24 around town in a truck is great.

Don't run it dry. You will not get it to restart without priming the fuel system and purging the air.

I haven't ran anything dry in 20 years but my point is I had 2 gallons reserve when it shows 0 range. That's 40 miles. Sharing for everyone's benefit who may have range anxiety when the gas light comes on. When my light came on, I had 4 gallons in the tank.

I imagine that there has to be a certain level of liquid to keep the pump from running dry when you accelerate or decelerate, or travel on hills.

My first car I would drive until it sputtered going up hill from lack of fuel.

I've gotten better than this with my 3.92. I set the cruise at 110-112kmh and that seems to be the sweet spot. Currently averaging about 27mpg with mostly highway driving.

It’s is most definitely the 3.92. There’s actually not that much difference between the two, aside a few hundred RPMs and lower end grunt.

Just wrapped up a trip to traverse city and back. On the way there we had absolutely awful traffic. Nearly 2hrs of bumper to bumper. Good amount of city driving around grand heaven and traverse city. 65-75mph for the cruise home. I wanted to do it all on one tank and I think I would have made it but my wife doesn’t like that game. Per the range when I filled I would of had 20miles to spare.

I am amazed at the fuel mileage on these Ecos. Nothing like filling up the 33gallon tank and it reads 1000 miles + DTE.

Yep, coming off a 2019 Hemi I love it. It's nice not having to fill up weekly.

Update from like a month ago:

TSB for Throttle Lag does not apply to VIN. Occasionally see lag from throttle input; usually at stop signs and red lights. Had it happen 3 times. No further action needed. See Signature for vehicle info.

Alabama to Indiana. Lots of hills on south I-65, got some good drafting when it got flat. ~77mph, 3.92s and Wildpeaks.
