I saw the 0% for 84 months and knew it was time to swap out my 4Runner for a truck. I researched a lot of trucks and test drove a Ford & Silverado in the last few months but nothing checked all the boxes like the Ram. I test drove 3 or 4 different models and the dealer let me take one home. I fell in love, salesman got the numbers right, so I signed the paperwork the next day for truck I had taken home. After it was prepped by their service department, I started driving off the lot and looked down to see the battery light was on. I turn around and come to find out the "brain of the eTorque isn't working." I think it 100 miles on it. They are replacing that system now.

Based on what I'm seeing here, this isn't super common and people haven't reported any issues after theirs was fixed. I hope to get it back soon and have it be a thing of the past.

I have 3600 miles on mine now with no etorque issues yet! Several other issues though! Hope they get it fixed and you get your truck back soon

I have a 2019 1500 Laramie eTorque with 28,000 miles and a 2020 1500 Limited with 6000 miles. No etorque issues on either. The 2020 did have a bad injector which caused a CEL and disabled Start/Stop, but that was quickly resolved and not etorque related.

I traded in a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland for my new RAM truck with eTorque and I am very pleased so far. However, like many others here not to happy with the MPG so far and I read in the manual that I should be using 89 octane not a big issue but have to see if that makes any difference.

Bought my ‘19 Ram Hemi e torque Nov. 2019. Had a dead battery this morning (Dec 2020) with 9000 miles on it. Had to have it towed to dealer because jumping or charging battery wouldn’t wake up computer. Tow company had to drag it on to flat bed because e brake wouldn’t release. From what I understand, if 12volt battery dies, it may start for a bit in a limp mode but all electronics are dead and e brake won’t release and truck also will not come out of park. When it started with a jump box, charging system wasn’t charging the battery. This is my 1st Ram and I was really pleased with it except for some minor issues. Fuel mileage 17/20 city/highway. My issue is I no longer have confidence in it if it has to go to dealer if battery goes dead. (Sorry for long post)

I'm sorry to hear that it happened to you too.
It happened to me a few months back.
You'll probably need a new power-pack.

I really like the Ram. I have always been a Ford F-150 guy but decided to take the leap when I bought the Ram. Other “minor” issues like video screen going green, back window binding, water leak by rear headliner, and wired noises occasionally were something I could deal with. Being stranded and not being able to do anything to get it going is something that has me second guessing my choice. I will say it is the nicest looking and most comfortable and fuel efficient truck I have ever owned...and I owned a lot of Fords. I am thinking of maybe trading it in on a non-e torque version.

Love our two 2020 eTorque Rams!

Ram #1: Lone Star 2WD. Four months of ownership, 1680 miles, and not a problem in the world with the truck or eTorque.

Ram #2: Laramie 4WD. Six months of ownership, 3315 miles, and not a problem in the world with the truck or eTorque.

I had someone ask what my post proves as they have low miles so haven’t had the time to develop a problem.

Let me clarify my post...due to COVID, both are not driven as much as they would have been pre-COVID. Therefore, they sit more than they are driven. If the eTorque battery was going to fail as we’ve seen with the 2019 MY, ours would certainly be candidates as they each sit up to two weeks (one sat for a month) at a time without being started. They start up every time and have had zero issues.

Update to my post about having to flatbed my RAM to dealer because of dead battery etc. Tow company had to drag truck onto flatbed because it wouldn’t come out of park. Others may know this but I didn’t. There is a manual Park release behind plastic panel below the light switch. You remove plastic panel, slide a release and pull orange strap (best explained if you google it). Tow company didn’t know that. Good to know. This is my 1st RAM and I’m learning (former Ford guy). By the way, truck is still at dealer.

Read the owners manual guys. I’m as guilty as anyone for using mine to level one of my shop benches but FCA puts them in the trucks for a reason.

Ford, no clue why they put them in the trucks as everyone knows you just call 1-800-241-FORD to have it hauled away and pray to God Ram has some stellar deals going on at the time! 😉. Sorry, I digress reliving a nightmare from many, many years ago.

Remember, these are complex machines and the worst time to pull out the manual is when something goes wrong. Imagine being an aircraft pilot at 40,000 feet and pulling out the manual as you’re on the way down...grab a coffee, a brew or a soft drink and take thirty minutes to get to know that $50K liability sitting in the driveway.

I agree...I’m always telling people how can you buy a new vehicle and not read the manual......I think I got about 1/3 of the way speed reading through it and thought I’d figure the rest out as I go along.....dumb. I am going to let the tow company what I found out

And for those who would rather watch it on video, they do have some topics at: Official Mopar® Site for Ramtrucks | Mopar Videos

Another great resource is to sign up at: Ram Service, Parts & Accessories | Official Mopar® Site

2019 Limited w/ eTorque here, and thru 42k miles my only service item has been grit in an injector rail causing rough running and CEL (I work a mile away from one RAM dealer and live maybe 4 from another). On that issue, the service dept swapped positions to test and the issue followed the one they swapped, so they cleaned it, and everything‘s been good for a year since. Mileage is fine - often well over 20 on extended road trips on the highway. Haven’t seen anything below 16-17 mpg on a tank when hand-calculated even when I’m using the warm up feature sometime (garage is too small for the truck so it’s outside in Indiana winters), unless I’ve been towing in which case the Numbers are irrelevant to the rest of the driving mileage.

Compare this mpg’s with the thread on gas mileage going on at the same time... guys getting 12-13 mpg with similar trucks to yours. You got a good truck then.

Update on my RAM with dead electrical system. 2 weeks at dealer and still not fixed. I don’t know if this is typical with RAM dealers but it’s about useless to try to get updates or even get through to Service Dept. When you do get through, they are in a hurry to get off the line. Maybe they are over worked but that’s not my problem. I drove to dealer today and saw my truck parked out where it was about a week and a half ago. I know it’s the holidays but wtf, at least keep me informed.
