2019 RAM 1500 hellwig swaybar

Ok, here's a weird one. I know a few complained about an odd lane change assist error message that had never seen in almost a year. Now that I've got the Hellwig sway bar on (I think this is what's causing it) I've gotten this message flashed up about every 3-4 days, Lane keep assist - please place hands on the steering wheel.

Several times it flashed up so quickly I couldn't read it, others longer. I've had my hands on the wheel the whole time so I can only assume the suspension/steering geometry is just different enough to trigger this.

Anyone else? I went back to the 2nd hole for a long road trip (19 hours in two days so far).
Interesting. No issues on my end. Just drove to Katy and back this evening on I-10 and it behaved like it always does.
Well... almost. I just installed the PC, and my truck now feels 2000 lbs lighter. OMG. It’s a friggin rocket.
You have got to get one of them in your Ltd. Thank me later... o_O o_O o_O

Newbie Question, and I am sorry if this was covered, 2019 Rebel with air ride, any issues putting this on?

Ha! Never thought to look at the service manual.
Thanks for doing this. Here are the specs (74 ft lbs)... Why not 75? o_O

I'm guessing that it is initially done in metric units. 74 lb-ft = 100 N-m (a nice round number)

The weight of the tires wont make a difference in body roll because they do not add to the axle / suspension loading. If they are taller than stock then the increase CG and that would add body roll. Bed rails would increase the weight , just like putting stuff in the bed.

The sway bar rocks
10-4, at the top of my statement I was trying to think what was different between my Bighorn to wanderer's Bighorn as a startpoint reference guideline to his comment of "light trucks" compared to all other vehicles and their additional accessorories.

I should have added the 1" taller height difference of the Falken tires as you mentioned, thanks!!!

Now that you have my brain going....lol, I wonder how much different hardware/parts his 4x4 has over my non4x4???

That's interesting. Because my payload is also 1749, and I have the 4x4 level 2 Bighorn. The 4x2 must not be saving much weight?? I find that odd. Maybe there is other differences, like I have bench up front. But that number of 1749 in both our trucks is way to specific a number to be found on both our trucks if they are not exactly equipped the same. Something is off there.

I have the 5 passenger with the large console area thingy!!! Perhaps my bucket seats and console thingy (vs your 6 passenger bucket seats) weigh as much as your parts for 4x4??? I also have the 20" rims/tires---you? your bed length (5'7 bed would weigh less than 6'4)??? engine weight? I have 5.7

Went out and looked at the gray sticker in door and my GVWR is 6900---winging this and learning how to determine payload as I go (reading online what it uses to calculate).

The payload is actually on a sticker in the door jamb of your truck, you wouldn't have to calcuate that particular number.

I just went out to double check mine; it is actually 1751 pounds, lol. Was off by 2.

Yeah I remembered mine from the thread that went around for awhile asking all to post their payload. The other sticker gives your GVWR and other info.

I wanted to understand how to get your payload number to understand why ours are close with the different items we have mentioned. Thus taking the GVWR - curb weight = payload. I was looking at the difference of our vehicles which still puts us within 2 lbs on payload. All is good!

Question on Hellwig Swaybar Install. Did anyone use the supplied bolts for the D-Bars? I noticed that they aren't normal socket bolts, but look more look like allen wrench style bolts. I don't have anything that large that would be able to provide enough torque. is there any issue with just re-suing the existing bolts from the stock swaybar or are they not strong enough to support it?

Installed my Hellwig over the weekend. Today got up to a left turn light turning yellow and normally would have stopped, but decided to take the turn. OMG!!! You'd never know I was driving a crew cab 6'4" bed 1500 because I kid you not, it felt just like I was taking the turn in my Dodge Charger!! That's how planted the truck felt. Oh, and did I mention that I also installed a pedal commander over the weekend as well? So, once I finished out that turn, the City-2 kicked in and off I went to the races!! Not missing my Charger as much anymore!!!

SEEEE its not just me!!!!

And now I have a clunk in the rear end. It has to be this damn bar. Really thinking I regret this purchase.

That is odd. I don’t even know what on the sway bar could make a clunk noise. Assuming you tightened everything to spec and received the proper bushings instead of the wrong bushings like someone else.

Of course Hellwig doesn’t even tell you torque specs besides the U Bushings. I called them and they said their install instructions are wrong. Really disappointed with this company.

If everything is tight (8 bolts total) there will be no clunk unless something is broken, and that should be obvious.

Since it is a stiffer bar, I'd check your end link top bolts too. Those are unaffected by this installation, but some Rams were shipped with loose links - and that will definitely clunk.

How long has it been since you installed it, when did it start happening, and when does it happen? Every time you go over something, when you turn, etc.?
